Daughter bought a mattress and box spring on Nov. 1, 2025. We were to pick up Nov. 8. had rented a truck and they did not have it. So they had it delivered Monday Nov. 10th. which was inconvenience as we could not put together until weekend. When we did put it together on the 16th, we did not need box spring. We called Monday for a refund as they denied it. I don't understand that they can not refund when they totally screwed up getting it to us at the time they told us. We bought all our mattresses there, but no more. We will not buy there again if that is the way they run their business. Patrick was trying to help us, but Nicco was determined to refuse our refund. I ordered a mattress and a base in store on January 19th 2025. Since then I have had multiple dates of "delivery" that came and went with no mattress. Had to file a BBB complaint, and when I filed that I by some miracle got a call that day of my mattress being reassured for delivery. Got that, but was told the adjustable base would be delivered in 2 weeks, it is 2 days shy of 3 weeks and was told it would be another week. I would never suggest doing business with American mattress. read more

Finally. I can stop getting weird, shocked, slackjawed looks when we tell people that, yes, we shared a full size bed. Seriously folks, if it's that bizarre, maybe it's indicative of problems in your relationship, not ours! The amount of strange responses and jokes we got while bed shopping (to upgrade to a KING), was absolutely ridiculous. We worked with Alec Baldwin, oops I mean Chuck, at American Mattress. His reaction to us was, "how many children have you had by mistake?" he also made a number of misogynistic jokes during both of our visits, but he's the type of guy that you DON'T want to knock his block off for doing it. Since they don't work on commission, there isn't high pressure to buy the fanciest bed in the store. Alec (Chuck) answered all of our questions, gave us our space to try everything and discuss our options, and in the end was extremely helpful in getting us a great deal. He saved us $700 on the mattress we LOVED. Tip: Ask about clearance mattresses! The mattress we purchased was $700 less because it didn't have some fancy ribbon/beading around the edge of the mattress, instead it was a plain ribbon. Who cares?! You're putting sheets on it anyway! American Mattress does charge a delivery fee, but it was a fair cost. They also have financing options available, I believe up to 24 months. I'm very happy with our shopping experience at American Mattress and cannot wait for our new KING SIZE bed to be delivered tomorrow! read more

I cannot emphasize enough the wonderful service I received here. I was a bit skeptical walking into this store as there seems to be a different mattress store every corner you look. I was so glad I did. They are a privately owned family company. Chuck (I believe that was his name) was very friendly but didn't hover while I browsed. He was extremely knowledgeable and didn't try to sway me into buying the most expensive model. He was extremely patient as I took my time going from bed to bed. It is nice to see that good customer service still exists and I will definitely go back for all my mattress needs. Steve took time to educate me on the various options. He explained differences in many of the mattress sets along with allowing me to experience each style. An Open Letter to American Mattress, Yesterday, my husband, my two children and I walked into your Oswego, IL location. We were met by a slick, well-dressed salesman, whom I will not name in a public letter. He was a good salesman, at first. He followed all the sales strategies I know. He agreed with our needs, he had a particular product in mind, which he kept gently pushing us to, he lied and said he didn't work on commission to make us think that he was truly interested in our needs, not a sale(I've looked into your company, your salespeople work on commission). He attempted to build trust and establish himself as an expert, when my husband mentioned he had, had back surgery, our salesman also had, had not one, but three, back surgeries as well. When he described the products he offered, he used pseudo facts that sounded legitimate to make all other products on the market seem of a poorer quality. In short, he was, in his mind, a good salesman, he knew all the tactics and executed each one flawlessly, right until the end. He called us over to his desk and put on a show of trying to figure out how to give us some extra discount to close the sale. "Are either of you teachers, law enforcement, military," he added a few others that I don't remember. My husband, who had resigned himself before entering the store, to play the sales game, responded, "I'm a Vet." This revelation launched our salesman into his next attempt to connect with us, and we found, to our surprise and, total disbelief, that our salesman was also a vet and served in the USMC, the same as my husband. Our salesman asked when he served and my husband revealed he was a Desert Storm Vet and the two men praised each other for their service, shook hands, and briefly spouted classification numbers to establish the validity of each person's claim. Whether our salesman actually served, or was had just done some research to know what to say to service members, I can't be certain, although after what happened later, I think it was the latter. Then our salesman pretended to crunch a few numbers and gave us a quote for the bed we really didn't want, but he wanted to sell. It was about half the listed price. I said that was reasonable and we'd consider it. However, my husband let him know he didn't care for that bed, because he felt an unusual pressure across his upper back when he tested the floor model, and here's where the situation turned ugly. Our salesman, realizing he needed to keep us considering the offer, not the quality of the bed, used the last tactic in his sale's tool box, creating FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt). He looked my husband in the eye and said, "You felt something on your back? Huh, did you sniff too many gas fumes over there?" Meaning, while you were in Kuwait, slogging through the burning oil fields, while in WAR, did you inhale gas fumes that gave you brain damage. Let that sink in for a minute. I know our salesman was just using a sales tactic, he knew I was the primary decision maker, and he knew he needed to discredit the validity of my husband's statement so that we would still consider buying that particular bed. I also know he said it as a joke. HOWEVER, this one statement could not have been in poorer taste. In case you don't know, let me explain a little about what the Desert Storm Marines went through. First they sat on ships that aired television broadcasts from home for months leading up to their arrival in Kuwait. Those broadcasts estimated, at times, casualties of 50% for soldiers about to enter the country. So, my husband, stood with shipmates, watching those broadcasts and wondered, will I be the casualty, or will it be the man standing next to me. Then in Kuwait, he and his company were met with the miles and miles of burning oil fields. You see, Saddam thought that if he lit the oil fields he could keep the soldiers out. It did not, brave Marines trugged through the sand and smoke and heat for days. There were times the smoke was so thick you literally could not see your hand in front of your face. They had nothing to protect their lungs from the smoke, because if they used their gas masks and encountered chemical warfare later, (which, again the media predicted), their gas masks would have been useless. So, they marched through the clouds of thick black smoke with only bandanas and shirts to cover their faces. This is the situation the salesman made a joke about. Imagine if he had said the same thing to a 9/11 first responder. It would have been in no less poor taste. I have run out of room. Great place to get a quality mattress reasonably priced with long term warranties. The customer service is just outstanding! We bought our mattress 8 years ago and unfortunately it started to recently sag. The mattress was under warranty and Chuck the manager helped us get it replaced with a new one that was comparable. Went all over looking for mattresses, other local mattress stores didn't have the best customer service, so we ended up at Ashley furniture and put down $200 on a king size mattress that ended up totaling close to $3,000. The next day we were shopping by American Mattress store and decided to go in for a price comparison and just to browse. There we met Chuck, the guy was a manager I believe. He was a people person, lots of experience and knowledge. Rather than putting us in increasingly expensive, plushy, over the top mattresses he continually had us trying cheaper mattresses, stressing that plushy, expensive mattresses aren't always the greatest thing. We ended up finding a mattress that we loved for less than half the price of the competition. He was professional and friendly. He worked with us a bit on price and worked to even find a one-off colored mattress that would cost less but was the same. Then they delivered it fast too! And on time. They told us they were going to deliver around 3pm and were there at 2:58 ready to deliver. Also the delivery guys were extremely friendly and treated my fiance very well even though I wasnt there. I cant say enough good about this store, Chuck and his delivery crew. Thanks guys! Ill be back and Ill be sure to recommend you guys. Last autumn 2010, we had a new mattress delivered to our home. They took out the old and set up the new. Unfortunately, when they left with the old mattress, they also left with my wife's wedding and engagement rings. I went to pick up my barking dog and left them alone in the bedroom for a minute. It was an oversight that the rings were left there. We alerted the store and were told that "they would never do that". They also suggested that it may have fallen off the dresser and they would turn up eventually. One driver had worked there for approx 10 years and the other a few months. The police investigated. While they had their suspicions, they could not prove anything. Fast forward to now, months later and the rings never did turn up. They stole them. The police suspected they likely went to a pawnshop very soon after the robbery. Just please beware of who you let in your home and never ever take your eyes off them ! read more
