We went here with a couple of friends for dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant is seat yourself and has more of a bar vibe than a restaurant. The place is family run so all of the family is there in one facet or another. This is a little bit to a detriment because the service was a little slower than we would have wanted. Now we did have appetizers, but from when we got there to when we got our entree it was around 40 minutes. The food though was amazing. Quite possible the largest boneless wings I have ever seen and they were all solid hunks of meat not junk wings with filler and breading like you see at more chain places. The fries were also very delicious because they had the little breading that made them extra crispy. Overall, I look forward to coming back to try all of their sauces! read more

Talk about a hidden gem, omg this place is AMAZING!! I had not been in years until recently, and I was like what is wrong with me, why haven't I been here? Some of the most amazing food you will find anywhere, they have homemade specials daily, and a large variety of other homemade items! Friday and Saturday are steak nights, I highly recommend the Saturday steak bites special. It's the best tasting steak I've ever had for the money!! A pleasant surprise! Their steaks were cooked perfectly and well priced! My only issue was my special that I ordered seemed to be smaller than the regular steak the wife got, and my butter was noplace to be seen even if it had melted 100% by the time we got it home. This is a pretty good local, home cookin', style restaurant. It was Friday during Lent, so we had fish sandwiches! They were HUGE and delicious. We also had the cheese sticks (chees bombs) and they were everything you want, including "molten cheese hot" so be careful with your first bite! The service was a little slow which is why the review is Good instead of Great. Some Service from this place is a joke. Crystal is rude and argumentative. If something is wrong with your order she treats you like it's your fault they cooked your steak well when you ordered it med rare. When I left a message about my order being messed up bc this steak is suppose to be med rare and clearly med well. I was met with rudeness. Good food and the support the owners give to their community is amazing. It's hard not to support this place with both qualities. The blackened chicken bites are my favorite! Caution when ordering the boneless wings. You get more than your money's worth. It will require a to go box if your not sharing a large, unless you're hungry. It's one of my favorites to visit. Their boneless and traditional wings are solid. The price is amazing. If you wait for their wing specials on Wed and Thur, it's even better (10 boneless wings for $6!). Their boneless wings are massive. Imagine three or four average fast food chicken nuggets combined and covered in a wing sauce. They can almost be too big - they are occasionally a little dry. They are usually generous with the wing sauce you ask for though so there's plenty to dip it in. All of that said, you have to get their ooey gooey fries. The goetta + queso topping is disgustingly amazing. Word of caution though: this is the heaviest dish I've ever eaten. Thick potatoes covered in thick cheese topped with thick goetta. It's incredibly tasty, but best shared or eaten in small portions if you got wings. In other words, don't do what I did and try eating the appetizer of ooey gooey fries and 10 boneless wings and think you'll be able to stand up and walk away afterwards. read more

I'm definitely looking for a new regular spot to eat close to home. I've been meaning to check out Hometown Heroes since last September but kept forgetting or my schedule didn't line up or whatever. I may have found my new home away from home. The minute I walked in, I was greeted with a smile by Jade and Jacelyn, who were standing behind the bar countertop. I told them I was new and they told me to sit wherever I wanted. Jade brought me the menu and told me the specials. Jacelyn chimed in that the Mac and Cheese was to die for and that I should consider it as a side if I got the steak tips special. I love how casual, yet friendly the place is. I did order that steak special, which came with a side salad (hold the tomato!), a generous portion of sirloin steak (and a side of A1), and one side. Jacelyn wasn't lying; the Mac and Cheese was cheesy, hot, and cooked perfectly. I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to mac; I loved it and it was exactly what you would expect from a place like this. I chatted with the two young women about the place and the neighborhood. It was as if I was in their personal dining room; I felt so welcome. After I was done, they asked what I thought and suggested that next time I try the wings. I'm leaving a job with a ton of co-workers to engage with every night to work from home alone and I'm worried about getting enough socialization to keep me sane. I need to find a place I can go where "everyone knows my name," as it were. (I'm fine if they just shout "Norm" when I walk in.) Hometown Heroes may be just the fix I need. read more

This is a review of my two trips to this place. The first time went great second was a disaster. The first review can be read at the bottom of this section where I gave them 4 stars. The 2 stars i give it now is a mix of the 4 stars I gave it first and the one star I gave it the second time we went. My wife and an went for the wings and we ordered 10 each and an app of fried pickles. 45 min later no food. There was only like 5 other tables in the place. The server said it was coming right out. 15 min later after an hour of waiting we walked out. As we did we walked past the kitchen where I looked in and they were making 3 burgers. Our food had not even been started yet???? As we walked out the door all we got was a sorry from the server. It's to bad Cus there wings really are good. When you can get them. Home town heroes is a fun little sports bar in Dayton KY With great wings! My wife and i split a cheese burger, wings and the nachos. The wings were outstanding. And the ultimate nachos were very good. The burger was average. There is a few things they could Have done to the burger to make it great. Like toast the bun and maybe season the meat a bit. The service was good and very friendly. And they had TVS every place. We sat out side and still was able to watch the football game. read more

The fiancé and I wanted some comfort food one night recently so turned to Yelp. We live in Bellevue but had never heard of Hometown Hero's. Given the decent reviews, we gave it a try. I was not overly impressed with my boneless wings- I ordered 10, received 9, so not a great start. They were large, but were also very dry on the inside, clearly overcooked. They didn't have much of a batter on them either, so the outside was just tough chicken. The fiancé was very happy with his regular wings though, so those were a solid choice. We also got an order of fried pickles. but they were way too salty. I mean, pickles themselves are on the salty side, but I really wish the batter had been salt free to make up for that. Otherwise, the portion was large and the batter was crisp. Both the blue cheese and ranch were really good and tasted homemade. I would consider coming back, but would definitely skip the pickles and boneless wings. read more

I ordered a burger and was blown away at how good it was. It's easily one of the best bang-for-your-buck burgers in NKY. As great as the burger was, the star of the show was the chili cheese fries. Holy cow, the chili is great! It's Cincinnati style chili that tastes very close to Skyline but a bit meatier. Even after stuffing myself with a burger and chili cheese fries, I regret not getting an order of wings. I saw and smelled the wings on the table behind me and they looked and smelled amazing.
