Whenever I visit my sister in Cincinnati, she always tries to take us to new restaurants that we haven't tried before. This time, she took us to Dilly Bistro Bar and Bottle Shop. I don't have too much to say about the drinks as I just had water, but the food was tasty and exactly what we needed on a cold afternoon. To start out, we ordered the famous beer cheese, and crab cakes for the table. The famous beer cheese was similar to a fondue but it was prepared well and had me wishing I had more. Very tasty and perfect for sharing. The crab cakes were equally tasty and tasted fresh with a nice consistency. As a table, we ordered the mariemont salad, the Cuban, the famous burger and a bowl of chili. I don't have too much to say about the burger. It was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. The salad was unique and was shared by 2 people at our table. The Cuban was filled well and good value. Its always nice to see a restaurant not skimp out and deliver a nice product. In my opinion, the star of the show was the chili. This was a hardy, filling and extremely tasty chili! And of course, it was exactly what I needed on a cold, cloudy day. I ended up ordering a second bowl, it was that good! I would reccomend this place for a casual meetup with friends or family. This is a restaurant you take your in-laws, your boss, or someone you wanna impress to with a slightly elevated vibe that'll make you look put together but that's also fairly affordable. ‍ I got the Salmon Burger. It's a salmon patty on a ciabatta bun with basil pesto, arugula, tomato, and garlic aioli. It was DELICIOUS. A lot of times, fish based patties will be too flaky and won't mesh well with the flavors of the sauces. The balance on this dish between its flavors and textures was top notch. I am highly intrigued to go gather some friends and take them here try more of their menu! Good food with big portions! I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was overflowing with pork. It came with regular Ruffles potato chips and there weren't any side options- that's the only thing I wished was different. They have lots of sandwich options to choose from and an extensive beer and wine list. It's bigger than it looks from the outside and there's lots of outdoor seating too. We stopped at the Dilly after watching a movie in the local theater. It is a cool place to see a movie if you've never been. Kind of a throwback to an earlier time. We decided the Dilly for dinner would be a good choice. We were so right! It was Wednesday wings and my wife and friend ordered them. Both raved about how excellent the wings were. But I want to showcase the Korean tacos I ordered. They were exceptional. So much so, I wanted to go back the next day and order them again. The tacos had a little kick but the sauce wasn't over aggressive. Even the side of corn on the cob was delicious. If you go to the Dilly, don't hesitate to order the tacos. I ordered carryout online. It said the order would be ready in 30 minutes. I got there when the food was supposed to be ready. I was told the order would be ready "soon or soonish". I was then told it would 30 to 45 minutes before the order was ready. I had them credit my credit card for the amount I prepaid and left. It will be a long time before I go back. read more

Very upset. I made a reservation and when I showed up, there were no chairs at our table. After a wait, FOLDING chairs were brought out. Our service from Kelly was excellent! I appreciate that the restaurant offers gluten free buns. And they are the best gluten free buns in the city! Another server, Sam was helping a special needs patron who was dining alone at the table next to us. Sam was so patient with his multitude of questions and special requests. He maintained impeccable professionalism throughout all of his interactions. As a healthcare worker who occasionally works with special needs clients I appreciated the care and courtesy shown by Sam to this man who clearly benefited from Sam's kindness. Right in our neighborhood, and great food! We always sit at the bar, and never have an issue getting a bar seat (except on Wednesdays--wing night!) Their wings are (IMO) the best in the city! I had the chicken parm and my friend got wings. We both got the sweet potato fries. All of the food was delicious! I would get the same thing all over again. I have loved the Dilly's burgers for years. Also the beer cheese appetizer. Last nite we went there for dinner and we both had those items. Our burgers were charred and dry. We showed up for our dinner. The hostess was clueless when we asked to be seated on the patio. Manager said no it looks like rain. Then we proceed to a table inside that was perfect to be told that it was reserved for 2 hours from our reservation. Hostess then said "that is how the cookie crumbles". Great wine selection and service but the food lately is very disappointing compared to previous visits. Chicken sandwich was dry and lukewarm, and the salad was dry and seemed old. Plain potato chips were served with sandwich instead of fries like before, which seems an odd choice as they seemed to come from a bag. Seven or eight years back, I started writing a lukewarm Dilly review which would mainly complain about "the upper-middle-class, suburban, monocultural complacency this restaurant evokes in my mind." I was going to say that the Dilly Cafe "captured the 'Truman Show'-esque side of Mariemont quite well." Further, I was going to gripe about the Dilly's "dull grey decor and drab soccer-mom music." I also was going to suggest that "maybe the food isn't good enough to justify these prices." For whatever reason, probably indifference, I never posted that review. But now, things done changed. Or maybe it's more accurate to say that I have--in other words, I guess I'm getting friggin' old. Because I find myself enjoying the Dilly in the last year or two, mainly because of the pace and noise levels and atmosphere, all of which are quite low-key and pleasant. (For you whippersnappers who worry about such stuff, the crowds lean a bit older, but this being Mariemont, that shouldn't be very surprising to you.) And then there's another positive thing that HASN'T changed all that much--Dilly's prices. Compared to a good slice of the restaurant competition, Dilly's haven't increased very much. It now IS a good value for what you get, and we've been going there relatively often in the last couple of years. The menu has some staples, but it also seems to have some things that shift in and out by the season. Recently, have had good luck with the pan-seared salmon, meatloaf, a pork chop, and fish and chips. A more recent menu addition is the Korean-style steak tacos. All of these plates clock in at 20 dollars or less, come in very healthy portions, and are quite tasty. On weekends at least, Dilly runs a couple of specials. These can be terrific; the kitchen has done an excellent job with halibut, for instance. Or they can be a great-sounding ideas that fall a little short on execution: A rabbit and duck confit plate (featured as an entree) was tiny in size, and both meats were overcooked. Also on weekends, there is live music, FWIW. This usually seems to be a small, pleasant, quieter jazz combo (maybe just a guitar player and a singer), although on the one occasion we went with my mother-in-law and her husband, whose ages both begin with an eight, there was an actual rock and roll band (they started pretty quiet but revved up the volume to conversation-prohibiting levels as the evening went on). In our visits over the last couple of years, our servers have routinely been affable and efficient. Dilly offers a decent selection of mostly local regional beers on draft, plus an okay wine list. Overall, Dilly provides a good very deal as a relatively mid-priced dining experience. read more

We love this little gem. I ordered the Bourbon burger and my wife ordered the grape chicken salad. Both meals were excellent and our service was even better. Even on a busy Saturday afternoon we were able to be seated quietly. It's nice that they have outdoor seating as well. read more

What the Dilly. I like this bar even though this seems to be a snobby area. The atmosphere seems casual enough. It has lots of local beers. The food has typical stuff like wings and healthier options. It looks pretty nice from the outside. It has a really nice patio. The crowd out there was too big so I went inside to the bar. It also looks pretty busy inside. There aren't a lot of good bars in Mariemont. I had a March First Cider. The drafts are about $5 for a pint. For the food it was a Summer Salad, which was the healthiest sounding thing on the menu. This comes with avocado and pecans. It's about $12, which is a bit too much. This was amazingly good with the sour vinaigrette. This has to be one of the hipper spots in Mariemont. It's in a place that doesn't have that much in the way of cool. They are close to the movie theater. read more

We split the beer cheese, which is so good you can eat it with a spoon (which we did). I got the ahi tuna sandwich with sweet potato fries and both were amazing. The sandwich came with marinated cucumbers, arugula, and some sort of magical garlicky sauce. My fiancé got the burger, which he said was great, but was envious of my tuna magic sandwich. Our waitress was attentive and the service was speedy, even though the restaurant was almost entirely full. We chose to sit further from the stage because we were worried about being able to hear each other with the band playing, so the noise level was perfect from our spot. I had dinner here tonight with my family, and Jill M was super accommodating and great with her recommendations. She steered me in the direction of the Cuban and it was delicious!
