I've never been here before, and while I'll say the food was good, my first impression was not. We walked in, stood at the door waiting to see if we should take a seat or go up to the counter to place our order. We were asked by the lady at the register how many we had. We said "two." She hollered back that they had a waitlist. So we went up to the counter to add our names to the waitlist. While standing at the counter, two separate groups of two walked in and took the two available tables. The same lady at the counter then said "Oh you can take an available table." What? We just lost two other tables for your imaginary wait list! She said "We just needed to clean off the tables, you can sit anywhere." We both ordered the Shrimp Bento Box which came with soup and a salad. What's strange is only one of our plates came with fried vegetables. Darn good, start to finish. I should have gotten hibachi, their specialty, but I was already leaning away from that since I wasn't starving and it was hot and muggy outside. I figured sushi maybe. And they have a good selection, and I ordered a roll, but also saw a daily special: crab Rangoon nachos. When they brought those out they were HUGE, and I asked to cancel the sushi roll. Luckily, they still could. I barely finished the nachos. Crispy fried wontons, with shredded krab on top, essentially krab salad with the meat, some creamy cheese, scallions, etc. They were not skimpy with the krab. It was good, chilled so refreshing on a hot day, and reasonably priced. Service was great. There's a lot on the menu I want to try. I have relatives in town so maybe we'll be back (and it was funny to look at the Yelp pictures and see some of them.) Free street parking on weekends. Cool space. Get here when you can. read more

I have family who have always spoken highly about Hometown Hibachi so we decided to finally stop here! We both chose the hibachi meals one because of the amount of food you get! We wanted to have leftovers for later lol I had the combination of chicken and salmon hibachi with fried rice! Very good choice. My wife ordered the chicken hibachi and fried rice! Both had an excellent flavor and a generous meal! The atmosphere is definitely laid back but small seating. There is a few outside tables so on a sunny day it would be nice to eat outside! Our server was very friendly and kept our drinks full without having to ask for a refill and in my opinion thats a major win! Came to Chillicothe to do some sight seeing; I'm originally from California and my boyfriend and I came to visit his family and stopped here to try some sushi/hibachi. The food portions are big! We didn't expect to receive so much but it was a lot for how much we paid. The sushi was good, a little heavy on the sauce but overall I enjoyed it! I loved the tempura and the gyoza was pretty tasty as well. My boyfriend enjoyed the chicken hibachi too (: The interior was really clean, a bit smoky from the kitchen but aside from that, I liked the decor and ambiance. The service was awesome! My wife and I always visit this restaurant when we are in Chillicothe. The hibachi here is better than any of the others that I've had in my life. It is always comprised of fresh ingredients and they have fast service. Each meal comes with a side salad, soup, and yum yum sauce. You can also let them know you would like no vegetables and then you can get both rice (a ton) and lo mein noodles; whereas it is usually one or the other. The base sauce for the chicken and rice was very good, adding the yum yum sauce made the food great! The dining area is so cute, with touches of downtown Chillicothe. Our food was enough for 3-4 people, so great for the price. When we got carry out during a pandemic, I called immediately at 4 PM to put in an order ready at 5 PM. It was ready and hot. I love the soup and salad that comes with every meal. Each meal is enough for three servings for me, so I know I am getting a good deal. The Yum Yum sauce makes me return every time, it is good on the noodles and chicken and shrimp. Thankfully the food is worth the wait (35 minutes from the time we placed the order). Also the fried rice portion size is huge so for the price you're getting a meal and a half. I was also pleased with the protein portion size. Like the majority of hibachi meals, it comes with a salad of iceberg lettuce and clear soup. It really hit the spot on a cool evening! This is a great addition to Chillicothe's downtown restaurant scene. The menu is simple and what they do, they do well. My wife and I typically share a hibachi entree, which along with an extra soup and salad, is plenty. The gyoza appetizer is excellent and the spring rolls are typical but also very good. My grandson, naturally, loves the Japanese "marble soda" (a marble built into the bottle) The owner and primary chef is a proud Balinese gentleman and his wife runs the front of the restaurant. I think it's great that someone from the other side of the world has settled in our little town. Chillicothe has welcomed this restaurant with open arms for good reason. A must try! read more

There were few people there when my husband & I arrived. We ordered an appetizer of Tempura vegetables. I ordered the chicken Hibachi & my husband ordered the combo plate of steak & shrimp Hibachi. The meals came with clear soup, a salad, fried rice, steamed vegetables & the meats. Everything single thing we are was absolutely DELICIOUS! The prices were very reasonable & the service was excellent. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant! I NEVER write Yelp reviews but this restaurant was so absolutely AMAZING that I was compelled to write one for this place! I reeeeeeallly wanted to love this place. I've had the food twice and both times I've been disappointed. My husband had shrimp tempura with veg tempura. He said his shrim was tasty enough, but very greasy. The veggies were so laden with oil that he didn't eat them. I had shrimp fried rice and a side of scallops (just 4 scallops in the side portion...the quantity should be noted on the menu) they were cooked well, but terribly over seasoned with a very salty soy based concoction (and I like salty things) The side salad was just sad and wilted and frankly, I didn't touch it. I tasted the salad dressing and wished I hadn't. It was cloyingly sweet. The shrimp in my fried side was terribly mealy and overcooked. There was also almost no presence of egg in the dish, despite my request for extra egg. The clear soup was a sad, unseasoned afterthought. I know people love this place. I'm rooting for them to improve the quality of the food and train their staff to be polite. The restaurant itself is super cute...with an awesome mural on the brick wall. read more
