I have traveled all across this country over the past quarter century; every metropolitan city in the contiguous states, many times over. Small bergs and big cities, and I always try a Chinese buffet when I can find one. This is, hands down, the best I have had. The restaurant is clean, lunch or dinner. The steam tables are plentiful and offer more food than a human should ever consider consuming. The staff is friendly and most present you with a beaming smile when you ask for anything. And the food... Simply one of the best, if not the best, hot and sour soup. All of the food is delicious. The meats have clearly gone through a velveting step to make them tender and supple: be it the Mongolian Beef or the Broccoli Chicken. The green beans have snap, not wilted and mushy. Spicy fare is subtle, not over the top, all offerings full of flavor and filling. The old joke does not apply here - you will not be hungry again in an hour. If you find yourself in Chillicothe, OH, or even near it, and have a hankering for excellent Chinese buffet, eat here. You'll thank me later. read more

Food is always pretty good and there's plenty of it. The service is always top notch so tip your servers. But the ambiance needs work... Everything is kind of dark and dated. I love the Asian decor but it needs a clean and update. read more

I've lived in Chillicothe my whole life. We've been to the New Grand Buffet a few times a year and they have never disappointed. The food is fresh and filled regularly. The restaurant is clean and has a typical Oriental theme. The wait staff are kind however they do seem to "want" to hurry you out. I still take my time ;) If you like Chinese food... give this restaurant a try. read more

What a wonderful surprise! The outside looks a little sketchy....but just go inside!!! Very clean upon entering seated right away! Took our drink order and our glasses NEVER hit half before she was back refilling them!! On to the good stuff....they had FROGLEGS!!!! Lightly floured and arson to perfection! Only at dinner though. Seriously everything was fresh tasting and well worth $13.99 per person!! Went on a Wednesday night and it was fairly packed for midweek dinner!! A solid, average Chinese buffet. Decent selection, some interesting items. Good service (for a buffet.) I didn't experience any of the issues some others have. I did flinch at the price- I got here too late for lunch, so I paid quite a bit more for what I'm sure was essentially the same food spread. What is a good value at lunch is pretty pricy for dinner. We love this food and the people who work there. They have become very close personal friends and we eat there regularly. Also I'm diabetic and I can eat there without affecting my blood sugar negatively. Highly recommend this place to eat. read more

Despite the lackluster outside appearance, this restaurant was very very clean on the inside. The buffet stays full and none of the trays are ever empty, my server made sure I had a drink and frequently stopped by to see if i needed anything. I used to eat here a lot when it was newer. I moved away, moved back, and the place is so terrible now! I've been back twice - the first time their sushi looked off, but I thought "eh, it's probably just a different style than I'm used to." Nope! I got food poisoning so badly the next day I couldn't leave the bathroom for hours! Looking back, I think they let the sushi sit out on the buffet all day until it rotted. I went back one other time due to a relative insisting (did not touch the sushi!) and the food just wasn't very good at all. As far as buffets go this is probably one of the better ones in town. It has a large selection of "Asian" food, fried foods, fruit and desert. The waitresses are fairly friendly for being straight out of China. Most of them don't know much English, "hello" and "thank you" is about it along with the names of the sodas offered. I've had a lot of different "Chinese Buffet" food over the years. While this location has a good selection of food, the quality isn't great. I've had much better quality food at a similar price point at other buffets. If you're really craving cheap Chinese food, this might suffice. I wouldn't go out of your way for it though. Food is 2 stars, selection and friendly staff earns it an extra star. If they would step up the quality I would be a regular. read more

I ate here when this place first opened and loved it! Unfortunately my experience last night was not so great. Most of the food was acceptable to good, but some of the noodles served we suspect were expired, because both of the people in my party who ate them had an upset stomach that night and both stated that they tasted odd. The staff seemed to have no interest in their customers at all, and the gentleman that ran the cash register did not even look up to greet us as he took the money, let alone stop talking on his phone. The idea for this restaurant is a good one, but poorly implemented. I do hope they spruce things up here. read more

This is the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The staff is not friendly at all. I was bumped into and nearly dropped my plate at the buffet by a boy that works there without a second look from him. The food didn't look very appealing. I found it tasted no better. Everything was bland and greasy. The beef was grisly, the egg rolls were chewy and the crab rangoon tasted very off. I have eaten at this restaurant several times in the past, but today it was terrible! Very little food on the buffet and what was there was grease soaked. Servers spoke very little English and had no interest in serving you, tried to sit me and my husband in a booth that both seats were torn in many places, bathrooms nasty and left water in the floor by bussing cart where people had to walk to bathroom! I watched to see if servers would clean it up for 30 mins but never did. Food has made us sick tonight, will never eat there again ! We could of gotten a better meal at White Castle!!! read more
