Bought a house and renovated with this company through VA rehab loan. Initial Customer service was great. The pace of the work was very slow. I had my windows replaced and a couple of the windows didn't have the new windows in stock - the problem was my old window was gutted out and nothing was covering it for over a month in dead heat summer. I had vinyl siding installed on one section of the house and that took the longest for some reason when it is the easiest to install. Overall work took over 3 months to complete when it should have been completed in 2 weeks or less. I don't understand why floors were installed first because they got scratched up with use of equipment in the house. On top of that it was very over priced. $100 to cover an empty breaker slot? They sell that for a $1 at Home Depot. If you can't keep up with a realistic timeline of the work then either don't accept the job or hire more workers to keep up with the demand. I had to move my family into my sister in law's house to accommodate your slow pace of work. Not a good service to New Military Family moving in the Hampton Roads Area. read more

Hometown Remodeling recently installed a new roof on our home. We opted to have the radiant barrier installed as well. We can already tell a big difference of the temperature in our FROG. That room is typically about 5 degrees warmer in the summertime than the rest of our home. Since the new Atlas Pristine roof and radiant barrier install, the temperature has dropped in that room to me on par with the rest of our home. We ware extremely pleased with the service that was provided with all involved. The office staff member Patty provided excellent customer service. One of the owners, Richard kept us in the loop from the start of the project all the way to the end. He even came out a few times to check on the crew. The roofing crew were all extremely nice and mindful of our property. We will definitely be using Hometown for the rest of the projects we have planned on and in our home and we highly recommend them to everyone. read more

Super fast, I gave them paperwork to send off for VA which they said they worked with before but nothing was received for the HISA. I hand delivered... do not give them the paperwork just get the quote and deliver... less headache. I ended up paying out of pocket $15k for the shower which did not include paint. Oh and they wanted to charge $498 for painting a bathroom? I was reimbursed by the VA... and to respond below. You guys rocked on the timing and getting it done in time. It was definitely a tight schedule. I appreciate that! However, Painting should be included in the quote just a suggestion and $498 is a bit much for the size of my bathroom. Unfortunately, Not a good experience for me,  Flooring installation. I purchased a new construction condo and the builder only offered LVP installation on the first floor. I was referred to Hometown Remodeling. Despite the nice, warm conversation at the beginning of this process, the end result was a nightmare. I was under a deadline, Mistake 1,  so I was told by who I believe was one of the owners Richard. In order to meet the deadline, I would have to select from the red dotted items, so I did,  mistake 2. Get what you really want. The project was stated to last 3 days yet it lasted 2.5 months.  Now, once the supplies "actually" arrived the nightmare started. This was a brand new home just built with no damage etc. The carpet was in the residence for maybe 2 weeks before a subcontractor of Hometown Remodeling entered my home. They damage my walls, doors, hand prints on my freshly painted white walls, I cant figure out how all this damage occurred when they were just installing flooring. Please note I was not living in the house yet, so I know it was not me or my movers.  There wasn't any furniture in the condo. Various pieces of LVP were chipped when they placed them on the floor leaving me to have to purchase wood puddy to fill these chips in my flooring.  The installation of my corner rounds or trims (although charged for new) were the old ones they removed. They were dirty, some cracked, also some were not cut at the proper angels, leaving the floor to look odd or out of place. Their attention to details was non-existent, with regards to the finished product as they called "turn and key". Then my stairs, they swear up and down that the stair nose was the matching piece for the LVP I selected, yet I have two different colors, the one I ordered and the similar color that is sold at Home Depot. The company of the flooring sided with Hometown Remodeling, yet I can clearly see a difference, can you?. Well,  paid my balance just to get them out of my home. In addition to paying them I had to pay another person to fix all the items that were damaged during this remodeling (flooring) project. I believe after 18 years their quality of work must be on the downward spiral and they are living off their name. I personally will never refer them as I spent three times the cost, I was charged for the disposal of carpet and the removal of my existing flooring, yet they used the dumpster onsite of the new complex. Life lesson for me. Learn from my mistake and find another company. read more

I had my bathrooms done last fall and the overall experience was stressful and frustrating. The subcontractor they provided never showed up when he said he would and seemed there was a huge lack of communication on their side. We only have one shower and they guaranteed it would be out of service for no more than a week. If I didn't keep calling to ensure they were coming to finish the shower then I feel it would have taken twice as long. The shower was also out for 2.5 weeks. The contractors tried to do a speedy job which if not caught, you would be stuck with. I finally went over everything with a fine tooth comb before the final payment. Unfortunately there were things that could not be fixed (the tile on the shower leans out about a half inch at the top and flush with the wall at the bottom. I felt that my job always came second or third for other jobs they may have had. They mentioned that the shower system I installed (Delta) had a temperature regulator on it and it may not get as hot as desired. It was during the hot early fall time so the water temperature at the time felt fine. Now that it is winter my shower temperature is about 15 degrees colder than the sink in the same bathroom. I emailed the contractor to ask what rough in valve was installed to see if there was anything that could be done but he ignored me. Showing there is no customer service once the final check is written. I would recommend looking around before picking Hometown. Like other lower ratings have said, customer service was me asking why things weren't done and getting excuses over the phone. They did compensate me for some of my bad experience but now I still have to call a plummer to come check the shower valve to see what is wrong since they aren't replying to my email. More money into a bathroom remodel that costs higher than average for the area. After posting this review, they contacted me about the issues I had with the shower and came over to fix the problem very quickly. The plummer that came over was very experienced and resolved the issue in about 30 minutes. I am now giving this review 3 stars since they admitted to their mistakes and repaired the issues remaining. read more

These guys remodeled our bathroom. They really did a great job, and it looks so much better than before. The person that came out was very knowledgeable, and gave us a variety of options. The project was started and completed in the timeframe they set for us, so we could plan around it. We had to call a few times to get updates from them - hence four stars not five. If we need more work done on the house we'd use them again. read more

Hometown did a great job on our roof. They came out after another contractor wasn't able to fix the problem, and spent quite a bit of time going over the areas of concern in our home. When it came time for the actual roofing job, they were communicating with us throughout the day, and the owners stopped by SEVERAL times throughout the process to make sure our needs were being met and that we had everything we needed. I have to give one star cause there is no other option. After being told in May that the house would be resided, windows in, and gutters up in 6wks I am still waiting for it to be finished. The siding looks awful with hammer marks everywhere, windows that were broken are not fixed, the siding is uneven and looks nasty, the attitude of Richard is very unprofessional and nasty. Don't make the mistake of going with this company that decides they will change their contract when they want and refuse to fix theiressed up work. read more

BEWARE! We signed a contract with Hometown Remodeling for a master bathroom renovation. One of the workers stole our home safe (an arrest warrant has been issued for breaking and entering with intent to commit felony, and grand larceny). We fired Hometown Remodeling as General Contractor when we learned they made numerous copies of our house key, distributed it without accountability, and even place one outside "on numerous occasions" for their convenience- all without our permission or knowledge. If Hometown Remodeling is currently working for you- ASK them who has keys to your home! If you are considering hiring them, think twice BEFORE trusting them with a key to your home! Additionally, when hiring other contractors to finish the job, we learned Hometown Remodeling had performed the entire project without ensuring any of the required permits were pulled (and thus avoiding any of the required inspections), even though Hometown Remodeling was directly asked by us if permits were required. Is this how you want YOUR project done? My advice would be to stay away from this company entirely. This bathroom renovation has been the worst experience of our life, and has resulted in the loss of irreplaceable items of sentimental value, as well as our sense of security in our home. BEWARE! UPDATE: For clarification- Our home safe was stolen during this contract. The police investigated, and issued an arrest warrant for Grand Larceny for a day laborer hired to work under this contract. This worker was the only suspect. There were no signs of forced entry. After the contract was terminated, FIVE additional keys to our home were eventually collected... read more

I'm giving this company one star due to the lack of service. I requested a repair/remodeling quote via their website and received a call within a few days. We scheduled a date and time, the contractor showed up on the day we agreed on and was very professional and knowledgeable. I was informed at the conclusion of his assessment that I would receive a quote within four or five days and up to that point I would have given this company five stars. I waited two weeks called the company back with regards to the quote and was told I would hear back from someone after lunch if not I would receive my quote via email. The receptionist confirmed my email address and a few days later I received a call from the contractor. He reassured me yet again that I would receive my quote via email within four days or so. It's been 28 days since my initial assessment and I've yet to receive a quote from this company. I feel like they over promised and undelivered. read more

I live in Landstown commons and I noticed my neighbor is having work done on there house, well this is what I have noticed, Day 1 a sign was put in there yard, day 2 nothing day three a couple guys showed up worked for about an hour, then left came back and worked another hour and left for the day, Today they rolled in after 1030 left about noon they just showed back up (1300) sad in the car for about 30 minutes. Theres ladders and all kinds of stuff in the front of the house but there employees sit in the car most of the time and I don't see allot getting done. I was watching to see whats getting done because I need work done, but after viewing this I know I will NOT go to this place if this is the way they do business. read more

I bought a 30-something house in 2017 and the listing stated that the roof was between 7-10 years old. The inspectors and appraisers agreed. My insurance company did not. I've been able to fend them off, but alas, this past October, I noticed water damage on the ceiling in my living room near my fireplace. I have a Synchrony credit card for home improvements and this company was listed as a participant in the credit card. They provided a quote for a roof replacement and new downspouts. Thinking I could use the line of credit I had, I told them I'd like to schedule work. Unfortunately, they weren't able to use the existing credit card and got me approved for another line of credit. They were quick to schedule the replacement, but it took a bit longer for the gutters and downspouts. The ending total was also much higher than what was originally quoted, which is why this is 4 stars and not 5 stars. When I met with the sales team, I explained my budget to them and how much I DID NOT want to pay and sadly, because they had to use the expensive plywood on my roof, I ended up going over my budget by several hundred dollars. There was also a hiccup with the financing because they had already opened the line of credit with Synchrony before they did the work and before I signed any invoice and Synchrony informed me it would be an interest rate 3 times what they told me on the phone. But, they quickly sorted that out for me, but I was pretty stressed out and peeved for a few days until they did. Because of the holidays, the processing of my warranty took about 2 weeks. In the end, I'm happy with their service and the roof looks nice. I had great pleasure sending my insurance company a copy of the warranty and pictures of the roof. I shaved $50 off of my annual insurance premium. Thanks for the roof! read more
