HomeWell has provided what has been, without exaggeration, the most consistently disengaged and ineffective caregivers I have ever encountered. Over time, we have cycled through three caregivers and multiple management staff, all demonstrating the same troubling patterns: inattention, lack of basic caregiving skills, and a complete absence of accountability. Families should not be misled by warm introductions or polished three-ring binders filled with mission statements and promises of dedication. The reality could not be further from what is presented. Despite repeated and direct requests--both verbal and written--to management and individual caregivers to remain off their phones during shifts, caregivers remain consumed by personal phone use while my father-in-law, who has dementia, is left sitting in front of the television for hours at a time. I have personally purchased interactive games such as Connect 4, card games, and ping pong, as well as supplies for bird feeders, all with the intention of encouraging engagement and stimulation. None of these efforts have been utilized. Meaningful interaction appears to be considered "too much effort." This is especially frustrating because I know--through firsthand experience--that my father-in-law is far more mentally present and capable than the caregivers recognize. Ten rounds of Connect 4 with him is joyful, engaging, and entirely within his abilities. He is very much alive inside, and he deserves to be treated that way. On February 4, 2026, I visited to check his refrigerator and discovered expired raw eggs dated January 16, 2025, along with multiple other expired perishable items--foods that could have been served to him up to three times a week. This alone raises serious concerns about basic safety and oversight. I arrived at 1:04 p.m. By 1:08 p.m., the caregiver--who had been sitting comfortably on her phone--suddenly made urgent phone calls and left, abandoning her shift nearly an hour early despite being scheduled until 2:00 p.m. I immediately contacted management and, to date, have received no response addressing this clear dereliction of duty. This behavior is consistent with prior experiences. On an earlier occasion, I asked this same caregiver to walk with my father-in-law around the Ballard Senior Center. Instead, she ignored the request and sat on a bench until it was time to be picked up. It is not difficult to understand why she appeared uneasy when I arrived unannounced simply to check a refrigerator--basic oversight exposed ongoing neglect. While the primary legal responsibility lies with his daughter, who travels internationally for extended periods, my husband and I step in when she is away to ensure that his fundamental needs are met: bathing, shaving, walking, social interaction, and a properly stocked and safe refrigerator. Rather than welcoming this involvement, the caregiver and her manager complained to his daughter that I "micromanage" and should "back off." It is astonishing to be criticized for ensuring that a vulnerable adult is properly cared for. HomeWell charges $50 per hour for care. At that rate, families reasonably expect engagement, attentiveness, and respect for the dignity of a person with dementia--not caregivers sitting in chairs on their phones while ignoring their core responsibilities. Unfortunately, my hands are tied. I am not the legal guardian and do not have the authority to hire or dismiss caregivers. However, that limitation does not diminish my obligation to speak up when I witness neglect, safety risks, and systemic failures in care. This is not a matter of personality conflicts or unrealistic expectations. It is about accountability, basic competence, and humane treatment of a vulnerable elder who deserves far better than what HomeWell has consistently provided. I hope your loved ones are never placed in situations where their care and well-being are compromised, as we have experienced with HomeWell. read more

They were a lifesaver when my mom needed in home care. We had care 12 hours per day. Very reliable.

My 88 year old father fell and broke his leg. Kerry Hopkins and her team at Homewell provided compassionate amazing care for him as he needed around the clock attention. They went out of their way to make sure that I knew they were available to me 24 hours a day if needed.. My father was very comfortable and praised the team at Homewell every day. Taking care of a parent can be traumatic, especially when they are fine one moment and the next, they have fallen and have 5 broken ribs. From there, being rushed to the Hospital ER at Northwest Hospital, to only then be transferred to Harborview Trauma Center. That is what happened to our mother a couple weeks ago. You find yourself in a situation of not knowing if your mom will be able to resume her independent life style that she is so accustomed too. Over the next two days, our mom was evaluated and it was determined that the only way she could avoid going to a Rehabilitation Facility and back to her own apartment, was that she needed 24x7 Care for the first week and we only had a 1/2 day to get things put in place. The folks at HomeWell Care Services are amazing and let us focus on our mother getting better and Kerry Hopkins and crew took over and made sure that our mom had everything she needed to get back to where she needed to be. Kerry Hopkins met with us the night our mom got home and had a Care Giver in place for overnight care and then continued with 24x7 care shifts for the next week. Their staff is amazing and their staffing manager was spot on in getting our mom the right folks with the right skills in place to address all of our mom's need. HomeWell Senior Care has been by far the best company I could've chosen to help my Grandmother. The helpers Selome and Tsega are so patient and kind with her. My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2015 and they've done such a great job of being true caregivers to her. I feel blessed to know she's receiving the tender care she deserves. Completely disappointed with this company! Did not provide the services that I paid for to care for my parent. Lame excuses to boot . Additionally, they state that their employees bring all their own food, etc and that they don't touch anything in your home. Big joke! They went through some of my parents possessions ! They damaged furniture! They did not give the dignity that my parent and any human deserves. You don't leave someone completely naked and exposed for minutes. These were our experiences. Please don't not only waste your money, but for the sake of your loved ones, this is NOT the company to use. There HAVE to be better ones out there. Totally disgusted. read more

I want to let people know that the service that HomeWell Senior Care has provided has been beyond what I could have asked for when my Great Uncle's illness progressed. I've used this company for 3 years. Our caregivers name is Abe, and even though my uncle can be a bit stubborn at times Abe has always been patient with him. Abe is an exceptional caregiver and really knows how to make my uncle feel safe when his Dementia gets the better of him. After trying several different agencies and one facility, I gave HomeWell a call. Despite both being in their late 80's, they wanted to maintain their independence and stay in their home. My sister (who lives out of state) and I had discussed having someone come in to give them a hand, which they reluctantly agreed to, but they wanted someone who spoke French, their native language. Cory was up for the challenge and amazingly within 2 days had a candidate for us. There were no deposits, no sign-up fees and no commitment my parents had to make. They just had to give it a try. It is difficult as my parents become more frail and you want them to be in a place that is safe, comfortable and happy. That place happens to be their home and HomeWell understands this. You can't really prepare for this - to say its hard is an understatement, but I feel like HomeWell is there with us and adjusting as we go along to make it work for my parents.
