Homewise (formerly Airport Appliance) comes through again with exceptional local service! We have bought many appliances from Airport Appliance in the past--which is now Homewise. I was initially a bit worried that the business had been absorbed into a national chain, but it turned out to be just a name change with the same great local ownership. Most recently, our wall oven went dead on the 4th of July. We called Homewise and spoke with Lyla Vo, who was fantastic at advising us on replacement options. While working with her, we also decided to replace our 15-year-old dishwasher to take advantage of a two-item extra rebate! Over the years, we've tried other options in the area, but Homewise strikes the perfect balance: Vs. High-End Local Outfits: Higher-end stores seem bothered if you aren't remodeling an entire kitchen. Even though we'd bought from them before, they lacked interest when we only needed a single replacement item. Vs. Big National DIY Chains: Big-box stores are a headache. Twice, their installers walked out refusing to complete the job due to minor water, power, or circuit compliance issues. While those may have been on our end due to older coding, there was zero flexibility or real-time planning--they are bound strictly by corporate liability rules and won't work with you on the spot. Plus, you're basically dealing with a website, not a human. Why Homewise Wins: Even though we handled everything over the phone with Lyla, the entire experience was seamless. When we had follow-up questions, Lyla even responded from her phone after her shift was over! That kind of personal, above-and-beyond care is rare. On top of that, the installation process was super smooth, and they strictly honored their 4-hour delivery window. Homewise delivers the exact feel of working with a reliable, friendly neighborhood salesperson. Next time an appliance needs replacing, we're heading straight back to them. I was in the market for a new washer and dryer after my washing machine broke, so I looked around and compared prices at several different retailers. From the beginning, HomeWise Appliance had the lowest starting price. It was also during their Fourth of July sale, and I received an additional instant discount of $75 per appliance for purchasing both the washer and dryer, saving me another $150 total. There were also two additional manufacturer rebates available that I still need to submit. I have seen some reviews mentioning issues with receiving rebate money, so I cannot comment on that part of the process yet. However, even before factoring in those rebates, the washer and dryer were still the least expensive I found anywhere. With HomeWise's additional Fourth of July discount, the total price became even lower than every other retailer I compared. Even if I ultimately receive only one of the two rebates, this will still have been, by far, the best overall price. The service was also great. Delivery was available the next day, and I had no issues throughout the entire process. I was charged an additional $50 because my home has more than 32 stairs, which I thought was completely reasonable. The prices they offered for the required installation components were also reasonable. However, I already had some of my own new washer and dryer lines, and the installers were happy to use and install them without any problem. Antonio, who helped me at the Redwood City location, was extremely knowledgeable about the washer and dryer--more so than anyone I spoke with at the other stores I visited. I really appreciated his candor and his willingness to discuss the differences among the various options. At no point did I feel pressured to purchase anything, which was both important and refreshing. It genuinely felt like he was there simply to help me make the best decision. Overall, this was a great experience. Based on the pricing, knowledgeable service, next-day delivery, and lack of sales pressure, I would not buy my appliances anywhere else. Sold a lemon. Strung along. Never refunded. I wish I could give zero stars. I bought a GE dishwasher from HomeWise Thinking that it was better to buy from them than one of the big boys because at least their customer service would be better even if the prices were about the same. I was wrong. First, I was sold a lemon. It broke within the first six weeks. Bottom drawer won't push all the way in. Top drawer catches. Oh yeah, and it leaks. HomeWise sent their installers out to check if it was an install issue. They said it wasn't take it up with GE per the warranty. So we did. GE Sent their tech out. He took pictures. Said it was likely that the cabinet had been torqued and that the unit was not fixable. After about seven calls to HomeWise, I finally was contacted by a manager only to be sorely disappointed. HomeWise refused to let me return and get a refund. They said it was up to GE to replace the machine. I said I don't trust a GE machine anymore, And I didn't buy the machine from GE. I bought it from HomeWise and they needed to make it right. They flatly refused. By now I've been without a machine for over a month. GE says they have to send a second tech out to confirm what the first one said. The second one comes out, And says he thinks he might be able fix it by ordering different drawers (there's nothing wrong with the drawers, it's the cabinet.) And that he might fix the leak by ordering another part. Meanwhile, if that doesn't work, He'll have to put a note into engineering who will argue with him about being able to fix the machine Instead of replacing it. Their own tech knows their own engineers will argue not to replace. They said the next appointment for two weeks later. Two weeks later now we get a notification saying that the part is on backorder and then they will let us know when it happens to be available again. Meanwhile I have two small kids at home, but they don't mind. HomeWise sold me a defunct GE machine and won't stand behind their products, instead choosing to pawn their customers off to the whim of the insurance companies of the manufacturers. Maybe HomeWise is fine if your machine never has an issue. But what if it does? If I had known about their customer service before ordering from them, I never would have. Would you? read more

We had a somewhat unusual refrigerator purchase to make, and was able to find the right refrigerator at this place. Our counters are a non-standard depth, so if we put in a normal size refrigerator, the refrigerator will stick out nearly a foot. That means that we have to special or a less common refrigerator that has a shallow depth. The staff at this place was able to order a refrigerator that worked. The prices were definitely on the higher side, but you are paying for the more personalized customer service. read more

Came in an hour before closing. Jer-Ray greeted us and actually asked if we preferred to have him talk to us about the dryers right away or if we wanted time to look on our own and call him over when we were ready. It was nice of him to ask because most salesman don't do that. When we were ready he came over and answered all the questions we had. He price matched a competitors price and we bought a dryer. Jer-Ray provided excellent customer service and made the appliance shopping experience much more pleasant than we expected. The delivery of the dryer happened within the window they provided. When we had an issue and needed to have the dryer exchanged the store manager George was helpful and Jer-Ray also called to be sure we were taken care of. This review is about Airport Home Appliance. I see that they changed their name so perhaps they are under a new management. Hopefully a more ethical business. Several years ago we ordered a Speed Queen clothes dryer. We were told it would take time to get this made-in-America appliance. Our first problem was that there was a problem with our order because of an error by the fellow who took the order delaying things months longer. After waiting six months the dryer was finally delivered and signed for by our housekeeper. When I was inspecting the appliance the next day I noticed that one of the information/promotional stickers--that come with brand new appliances such as dryers and washers--was suspiciously placed on one of the corners of the dryer. Sure enough when I removed the sticker there was a big dent. When I called the store they at first said they would replace the dryer but never did. They never apologized for their dishonest deliverymen. Can you imagine denting a brand new appliance and cover the dent with a sticker!! Tired of dealing with this business we accepted a nominal discount and moved on. read more

I tried hard not to write this review. We wanted to support a local business, Homewise had the best warranty and did price matching, and some of our issues stemmed from problems with our building that were no one's fault. We wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt -- and we tried to, directly. But after multiple miscommunications, I made repeated attempts to share this feedback with Homewise privately. The review link they sent expired within a week, before I'd even been able to get answers about what went wrong. I called multiple times, emailed twice to customer relations, and never received a single response. So here we are. Our experience with Homewise spanned three weeks and three installation attempts, and while there were serious communication issues along the way, it was ultimately saved by one exceptional team member. Felipe (Team Verdugo) deserves every star we can give. He was kind, courteous, and went above and beyond at every turn -- including showing up on his own time late on a Saturday night to finally get our unit properly installed. Out of the 10+ people we interacted with across visits and phone calls, he stood out as the most skilled and most genuine. He is the reason the number of stars is not lower, and frankly the reason we'd consider using Homewise again. That said, the communication throughout this process was a consistent problem. Several complications -- corroded valves, an old unit that was poorly installed by previous owners -- were nobody's fault, and we appreciated the team working with us through those. But the miscommunications were frustrating and avoidable. Specifically: The first installer told us a new drip pan was optional and that he could install it for us; the second said it was required. Had we known from the start, we'd have handled it alongside the valve repairs. When scheduling the second visit, we asked about the drip pan and were promised the original installation team -- the salesperson confirmed this (and we later learned this is standard practice) -- but a different team showed up with no warning and without the right capabilities. We were then promised that same original team for the third visit, and again a different crew arrived uninformed about the drip pan situation. Felipe was on that team and was very helpful, but the main person did not wish to help with the drip pan installation, and had we not asked, would likely have put it down without properly installing the drain without telling us. A manager committed to having the original team return that same evening to finish the job. 6pm came and went with no call, no update, and no explanation. We want to be clear: we understand things happen, teams get reassigned, and not everything goes to plan. What's hard is being told something definitive, building your day around it, and then having it fall through -- repeatedly, and without anyone letting you know. Finally, getting answers afterward was harder than it should have been. After everything was resolved, we called to understand what had happened. We left multiple voicemails with no response, and it took several attempts before we finally reached someone who could walk us through the history. We appreciated that she took the time -- but that clarity shouldn't have required so much chasing. We chose Homewise because we want to support local businesses, and the warranty was the best we found. We would likely choose Homewise again for those reasons. But we hope this feedback helps improve the experience for the next customer -- because the product and the warranty are great, and with stronger internal communication, the service could be too. read more

EDIT: After posting the original review, Homewise Appliance reached out to us. Jonathan was very courteous in his communications with us. He reimbursed us for the $350 emergency handyman fee and also got contractors out to our home within a few days to adjust the dishwasher positioning for free (this was a separate issue that had come up in our communications with the store). We really appreciate the effort to correct the original poor service we received. For this reason, I raised the rating to two stars. It is not higher only because of the overwhelming amount of time (2mo+) it took to resolve this issue; and because we should not have to write a bad review to receive basic customer service. **** We had a terrible experience with Homewise Appliance after their contractors caused electrical issues in our home - and they then refused to reimburse us or even apologize when we had to call out an emergency handyman to resolve the issue. We ordered a dishwasher from Homewise Appliance in Jan 2026 through their website. They got back to us quickly and the first installer team came out within the week. After that first install, we noticed that the dishwasher and our microwave kept shutting off. It was clear that the dishwasher was downstream (electrically-speaking) from the microwave, which wasn't necessarily the installer's fault, but it did mean the we couldn't use the dishwasher. Just to confirm it wasn't an installation issue, we called Homewise to have their contractor come out again. The second installer came out and while they were checking on the original issue of the electricity shutting off to the dishwasher and microwave, they messed with our fuse box and shut off electricity to multiple rooms and hallway in our house. (We only realized this after they left, when we tried to turn the lights on at night). Another team cam out the next day to try and fix this additional damage caused. They couldn't figure out what had happened and told us that it was not their fault - they said "likely you have rodents chewing on our electrical wires" (what?). This made no sense. We had a full home inspection done only months before and there were no issues flagged with the electrical system. We ended up having to pay $350 for an emergency handyman to come out that night and fix the additional electricity issues. He confirmed that the second installer had shut off a whole row of fuse box switches during their visit. Coordinating all of these contractor visits took a huge amount of time and caused us a huge amount of stress in addition to having no electricity in most of our house for a day. We went back and forth with the ecommerce team and even visited the San Jose Homewise Appliance store twice to request reimbursement of the handyman fee of $350. Tldr, they flat turned us down, ghosted us, and never even received an apology. We have never received such poor service from any store and will certainly never shop here again. read more

We went to the store knowing we wanted to buy a front-load LG washer but were concerned about how one would fit in our small laundry room. Salesperson Ixchel Ruvalcaba recommended a somewhat smaller LG model we had not been aware of, and it was just right for our needs and at a price we were aiming for. I had read reviews of Airport Appliance and other retailers and saw they all had a minority of reviews about delivery problems. I asked Ixchel about who delivers. She explained it was a third party they worked closely with. She explained carefully how to make sure the delivery was satisfactory before signing off on it. Elliott Jones in sales was so helpful finding me a replacement Speed Queen stackable unit, and I was able to handle everything via phone/email. We initially ordered white, but Elliot kindly called me a couple of days later and offered to switch to matte black so that I could receive the unit right away. He was easy to communicate with and quickly followed up on everything. The installation team was great, and offered to wipe down the floor in the laundry room before installing the new unit, which was very nice of them. Very careful installation up stairs and around a tight hallway and closet without any paint damage. Very courteous, professional installation team. read more

Malfunction persisted but no more updates from Bosch. This is an incredible amount of inconvenience and time bosch put on me and i am at the end of my rope. Frustrating and disappointing experience here with them despite many strong reviews They continued to fail to dispatch a power adapter I potentially needed for my dryer. I caught this the first time when my delivery was about to go out and when I called customer service they couldn't give me any explanation and only told me the adapter was "committed upon my order." I then had to call the sales folks to see if they had any visibility but they didn't. I cancelled my receipt of my washer dryer that day as a result and waited for the goods to be returned to the warehouse. A salesperson I spoke to reached out the following day insisting the adapter would be with the delivery the following day, but of course it wasn't. Thankfully I didn't end up needing the adapter. Additionally, the dryer came very dirty with black residue on the outside face. After I cleaned it, there's still a scuff mark I can't get out. Needed to replace a tenant's fridge spur the moment when it crapped out. Worked with Todd Malone of Airport Home Appliance in Emeryville to find a model that was the same size as the model currently in the unit, and this is where the fun began and why Todd gets 5 stars. The delivery service gets to the tenant's unit and tells both the tenant and me that the opening is too narrow, won't install the fridge, and leaves. I immediately call Todd and tell him the problem and he reaches out to the delivery service and shows them the spec sheets for both fridges and that they are the same width 29.75". Delivery service does not turn around, and does not come off their position. Todd immediately helped us find another model is slightly narrower with roughly the same capacity. He gets five stars for understanding the problem, empathizing with my tenant and me, quickly working to find a solution, and holding the delivery service to account. Please note that it is my understanding that the delivery service is a third-party vendor, and I give them 0 stars for their shenanigans. read more

Very poor customer service when you buy online. I bought a fridge online and paid for the installation (they only had to plug it in). There was no option to pay for door reversal so I thought the payment for the installation would take care of that. The delivery guys did not want to do the door reversal. They just asked me to call customer service which I did the same day. I didn't hear back from them so I called twice and left a voicemail. After speaking today to the manager he said the door was not reverse because I did not pay for it (again, there's no option to pay for it on their website) and that I had to pay $20. Do yourself a favor and do business elsewhere, this company is clueless re: customer service. read more

I rarely give a one-star review but today was such an odd experience I felt it important that the company knew what goes on in the store. We are doing a full remodel and need to buy all new appliances: dishwasher, washer/dryer, stove, oven, refrigerator. And we want good stuff that lasts. This is our last remodel of our only home - so we want it right. When we arrived we were greeted by a delightful 'trainee' who was helpful, nice, professional and not too pushy. She even suggested we look around on our own, which we prefer to a hard-sell. Then we asked about the Wolf Stove/Ovens and Sub-Zero Refrigerators. She immediately told us that she was in training and that we needed to speak to a salesperson would help. She gave our name to the dude (can't remember his name) and we waited. And waited. And waited. Understanding that he was with another customer, but he never even made eye-contact - it felt like he was avoiding eye-contact. When we went back to the trainee to ask for other assistance she apologized, made clear to the dude that we were waiting, but again, the guy never looked up. Then we waited some more. Finally, we split. We like to shop local - we are small business owners ourselves. But screw it - we will go online or go to Walnut Creek. This is our last remodel of our last house. We were ready to drop a big-assed chunk of change. It's cool that others were being served, but the dude could have taken a moment, introduced himself, offered a card or suggested a better time to call - or told us to come back another day. None of that happened. No one - other than the trainee - gave us the time of day. Dude didn't even look at us. The dude could have acknowledged us. We were the only ones in the Wolf section - plainly visible. And so, we left. Not sure who is in charge of Wolf Range sales on a Saturday at the Emeryville store, but he cost the store lots of bucks. We have bought there before but never been treated like this. Were we too "alternative lifestyle" for him? Excuse us for having fun while we shop. Were we too mixed-race? Again - excuse us for being who we are. Hard to imagine any salesperson unable to even acknowledge customers looking for the best product. If you take action, give the trainee his job. She was eager to assist and quite nice and professional. The dude behind the desk doesn't seem to have the energy to get up off his chair and help long-term customers. Sorry to be so tough - but we were greeted by great salespeople all day for lighting, tile, counters, etc. Shopping at Airport Home Appliances felt like walking through the desert, searching for a glass of water. read more

He was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and personable. I wish all the Salespersons I met were as helpful as Elliott. We did not get a call back. We called HW, left messages, waiting times 40 minutes. Issuue did not resolve in a month. Even cancelling was hard, got an answer after I contacted my CC. I recently made another big ticket purchase of GE5.1 coming Vic ft front loading washer. As usual I see my man Get-Rey a very good salesman expert at his craft. Got a great sale price before tariff kicks in and paid for home delivery. Cool. A week or so later my wife says when filling machine is making noise. After inspection and support from GE it turns out water lines AHASold me were too long causing vapor lock making lines bang. I called service to report and return lines but CSR said they wouldn't take used parts back or exchange. Following day called sales and they refunded Cost as should have occurred first time. We started our home renovation February 2025. We are nearly finished and were due to move back into our home February 2026. We purchased a SubZero refrigerator, Cove dishwasher and Wolf range in October 2025. We were promised a delivery January 2026. We received the SubZero refrigerator and dishwasher but were told today (January 25, 2026) that Airport/Homewise 'no longer sells that range' and cancelled our order. This will delay our renovation and potentially increase our cost (higher prices now and delayed move-in). Airport/Homewise doesn't seem to care about that. No alternative plan, just a refund. Our problem with it is, we've waited over 3 months, not a word about a problem with the order. Now, all the sudden Airport/Homewise just cancels our order and no other recourse? No professional at all. Unreliable. Do not buy from them. read more

They've been using the wrong email address for someone who lives on the opposite side of the country. I don't live in California. They won't stop contacting me for somebody who got an appliance from them. I've told them multiple times to remove my email from her account and they won't do it they seem pretty stupid to me. If these people can't figure out how to actually contact and communicate with their actual customers, maybe people should rethink it and maybe buy their appliances somewhere else. read more
