I was really impressed with the owner and how much time he took to explain the operation of my vacuum cleaner. It's a bit complicated and I've had the machine for 11years. Very knowlegable, excelent service. Had purchased a used vacuum from him that I thought was a bit of a lemon, Abraham insisted it was an excellent quality machine, and ultimately he was right. All the difficulties I initially experienced were due to a stick my dog had chewed and left on the floor--it matched the color of my carpet perfectly, so the machine had sucked it up, becoming lodged in the hose. Do not recommend. Was quoted $89 for vacuum servicing , told it would be done in 24 hours because I have a baby. No call, after checking in 72 hrs the owner aggressively told me that it is not ready because 'they are very busy.' I showed up Monday morning to take my vacuum somewhere else and to my surprise it was ready, but the charge was $98? Watch what quote he writes on your receipt because I notice mine said 0.00 which he later used to up charge me. On top of being dishonest, he was just very rude, aggressive and gaslight me. I will take my business elsewhere next time to support businesses that don't take advantage of their community. read more

I should've read these Yelp reviews before coming to this place. It would've saved me a lot of aggravation and more disappointment in mankind. I saw 4.3 overall Google rating and just went with that info without reading individual reviews. What a mistake. Dealing with Abraham, a biblical name, but he lacks decency and honesty, and his wife was the most horrible experience I've endured in a long time. After meeting with him the first time, I felt positive to bring my vacuum in for an estimate. He seemed like a nice enough guy although a bit rough around the edges. He said he would look at it and tell me if he can fix it or if I should buy a new one. I brought my vacuum in a couple of weeks later and was assured by his wife that they would look at it and let me know the estimated cost of repair. She told me the minimum cost would be $68. I said fine. I never once agreed to an actual repair. If it's $68, I still want to know before agreeing to the repair. When I arrived a couple of days later, guess what? Abraham had repaired my vacuum and was charging me $68 for it. I was dumbfounded. I said I didn't give him permission to fix my vacuum and he immediately tells me he has video footage of me and will play it back for me. I was beyond disgusted that this guy had 1. secretly taped me without my consent and 2. immediately wants to use it as evidence that I agreed to the repair. The first-time customer was immediately charged and convicted, with video evidence, over a freaking vacuum cleaner, folks. I was absolutely disgusted. When I reminded him that he told me in our first meeting that he could give me an estimate if I brought my vacuum in, do you know what he said? He said my first meeting with him was "in the past", meaning whatever he said didn't apply anymore. Only rules that benefit him apply now. He rejected my offer to pay half the cost and spitefully said he would remove all the parts he put into my vacuum and give it back to me. I said fine do it. I didn't expect my vacuum to be fixed anyway. I had to come back after two more hours to pick up my vacuum. Three trips to this place only to be conned and played for a fool. I've used this shop many times over the past years and it's time I posted a review. They provide terrific service. I buy filters and bags for my old canister vacuum, and did the same for my mom's vacuum when she was alive. Believe me, she was very particular about getting the special Hepa filters :) When the top of my vacuum broke, they helped me figure out how to keep it going for no cost to me. (It still worked, the top just kept popping open.) That's just a few reasons why I buy at this shop. Back in the old days, it was not hard to find vacuum repair and supply shops. Heck, we used to be able to get that at Sears. These days, I feel grateful for shops like this one and hope they can keep it up for a long time to come. read more

Brought my Dyson vacuum cleaner in for an ESTIMATE ONLY,,The hustler Abraham I believe that is his name ,Did $100.00 worth of taking my pads out of my $600.00 Dyson and when I refused to pay after he told me that my vacuum cleaner is expensive and that all his other customers pay when they have Dysons and that he's tired of doing estimates and then the customer just takes the vacuum cleaner and he doesn't get paid! Contrary to April H's racist review below, I had a great experience with this shop. I foolishly used my vacuum to clean my fireplace - better to use the fireplace broom. I got a lot of dust in the motor and clogged it up. Abraham got me in and got my repair done in a hurry for virtually the identical price as his initial estimate - but not without my approval. I asked April directly to take her post down and she actually wrote back that her anti-Hispanic, anti-Mexican views are her belief, and that if the post were taken down, she bragged that she would put it right back up. I reported her to Yelp/Google. They said that someone else had previously also reported this comment. At that time, they 'carefully reviewed' the post compared to the guidelines and decided to let it stay up. If you don't like the service a business or a person provides you, that's one thing. Unreliable service. Two machines serviced by them never worked for more than a week before failing again. Sometimes would take months to get the machines back. Shop technician told us we are too hard on the equipment, but machines serviced by a different company now give us no trouble. Don't recommend if you need a reliable repair. read more

Fast and Furious! Ha Ha! These guys are awesome!! I took my vacuum in and after a quick explanation by visually showing me on my vacuum what cable had broke, and how to prevent it in the future, I was offered to wait for 8-10 minutes and they would have both the cable and a new belt (belt was my request) repaired and replaced right there and then for under $60! Being the forever very busy person that I am, that equals "Excellent" service. Time is money baby! And in this case it was worth every cent! read more

Far as I knew, my Hoover upright vacuum was clogged with hair and sawdust. After days of trying to unclog it myself, I called the Vacuum Shop recommended by two very different friends. The man I spoke with sounded distracted and I wasn't sure he got my message. He said he'd call me with an estimate. My friend took the vacuum in to the shop for me and she felt the man she spoke with didn't hear her either. So, the communication aren't perfect. I called, a bit outraged and grumpy not to have heard from them, and learned it was repaired for much less than expected. At the shop the incredibly handsome man who was working the floor was so outraged at my having vacuumed up two pens it made me laugh. [I'm older than dirt and don't see too well, especially needing to wear a mask and work without my fogged up glasses, being allergic as heck to dust. I only need my glasses to see.] We had this cycle of his outraged waving of arms, my laughing, both fueling each other. Why he thought I meant to vacuum them up is beyond me? Why I would vacuum them up was beyond him. He demonstrated that the upright and attachments both worked before my taking the Hoover home, a plus. So, not good communications, but superb and very inexpensive repairs. That's the point. The man on the phone tolerated my grumpiness, so points for that too. I see why my friends recommended them. I randomly walked into his shop to borrow a screwdriver and not only did he lend me the tools I needed, but he also assisted me with the removal of a screw that seemed impossible to undo. I also witnessed him interacting with a few customers and noticed that he provides really great, friendly customer service. I would definitely come here for anything vacuum related. This is a prime example of how a locally owned business should be run! The service was quick and efficient. Great prices also! Spoke to Abraham about repairing my vacuum, and he quoted me a price and told me it should be done by the end of the day. It was the morning, by the way. Got a call a couple hours later, saying my vacuum was ready for pick up! Before I left home with my vacuum, they gave me a live demo showing that my vacuum worked. Looked and sounded great! Got home and tried it out, and it seemed like a brand new vacuum! Couldn't believe this was my vacuum because I was ready to throw it away! i've been in this place a few times and always appreciated their quick, efficient work -- but i won't be back. After an initial visit to show them the split hose that needed replacing, and given a quote $8 - 10 for parts and labor, and 3 more phone calls, I went back in today to get the hose replaced. The part they installed was used -- and i don't care about that, since it looks in good enough shape -- but i do care that he charged me $26 for a used part and labor of 10 minutes. I told him that he had initially quoted me a far lower price, but he wasn't interested in following up. A shame, because I wanted to support this business. Bait and switch is no way to establish a good relationship with your customers and cultivate their return business... read more

A few months ago, we purchased a very expensive Sebo vacuum, and I can honestly say I hate it. It weighs a ton, the bag is very difficult to change, the full bag light doesn't work, and the vacuum doesn't work any better than a much cheaper vacuum. It might last longer than a cheapo, but it makes vacuuming such a miserable experience, it really doesn't matter. The owner was nice, hence two stars, but that Sebo makes me want to buy another Dyson, even though I think they're very overpriced. read more

I dropped my uncle's vacuum off here a couple days and picked it up for him today. Since it is not my vacuum I had no idea what brand vacuum it is or other characteristics about the vacuum because I barely looked at it. I gave Abraham and his employees my uncle's name when I came to pick the vacuum. His employee asked me what brand it was, what shape it was, and what color it was. I said I am not sure what brand it was but it was a somewhat big vacuum that is black and red. The employee could not find it although all the vacuums that are ready to be picked up are in one place at the store with the receipt on wirh the name of the person the vacuum belongs to. Abraham then stepped in to try to find the vacuum abd was very rude to me raising his voice at me and talking me like I was dumb to the point where another customer in the in the store laughed at me. I definitely did not appreciate Abraham's service. I feel like that is not a way to treat customers especially if you want them to come back someday. I hope the vacuum works well. read more

When i dropped it off you told me I would be called with an estimate Ans: ummm well your part did not come in Well don't you think someone should still follow up with the client no matter Ans: Umm well your part did not come in OK, well when will my vacuum be ready as I am having a party and would really like it. Ans: Ummm well we have a shipment but I don't know if your part will be in there but it may be done Will you call me and let me know Ans: Umm if you part is in there We hang up and I forgot he never gave me an estimate like he said he would on day one. I call back Hi I just called and I actually did not get a quote Ans: Ummm well your part did not come Ok well you said it was the brush so how much to change out the brush Ans; Ummm well your part did not come in and if it did I have not checked the shipment. If I have time to check it I will call you and I may fix it today. I will call you. Obviously i felt like this guy does not care so I said you know what I wil call you ate 230 to follow up with you. So if you have the part I will get an estimate and you will fix it today. Ummmm if the part came in. I don't know I have not checked the shipment. Mind you it's noon and they got it in this morning. No wonder there were so many vacuums not done. With this type of service the only reason I can imagine they do ok is because there are not alot of vacuum shop. I guess it boils down to I need them and they don't need me. When that happen you get what I call bad matter of fact service. First, I came here because I needed bags for my old Miele. I had just moved to Richmond and knew where NOTHING was. I found this shop was just down the street so I decided to check them out. Yay! they had my bags. Next, my machine was getting weak and it's old so I brought it to them and they made it like new. It's still ugly but now it REALLY sucks :-) It did not cost an arm and a leg either. AND the people that work here are polite and helpful. I dropped my dirt devil vacuum cleaner off here a month ago. They lady told me that my brush was bad and they would have to order a new brush. I said okay. A man called a week later and quoted me a price of around $70; around $40 for the part and $30 for labor. I gave them permission to do it and he said to check back in about a week. I followed up about 2 weeks later. The same man told me that he had to go through a different distributor and to give him week. I agreed. Needless to say, I followed up and he told me to give him ANOTHER week because he was still waiting on the part to arrive. I showed up today, October 23rd, to inquire about the vacuum. The same guy from the phone calls looked around for my vacuum and found it in the back. As he rolled it up front, he says "Not fixable ". So I ask, well when were you going to call me and tell me?????? It's been over a month!!!!! He starts saying that he called me and spoke to me and told me about the part. I responded by saying he only gave me the impression that the part was coming! If it wasn't fixable, then SAY THAT! This place is a waste of time and doesn't know how to be straightforward. Waiting on a part doesn't mean it's not fixable. Be clear! read more

I would not come back here again. It took almost a month for my vacuum to get fixed. Reason: it took awhile for the belt to arrive. The cost: $43.00. In the meantime, the guy (possibly the owner) sold me a used vacuum $38.00, in which the belt broke after 2 uses. I brought it back in and I get a sermon on how to vacuum and that I have to be careful not to vacuum big objects. How about maybe he sold me a vacuum with a faulty belt or an old used up belt? He sold me a new belt and was going to charge me $12 for installation. I installed the belt myself while in his shop, which took me 5 min. This is the only vacuum shop in n a 20 mile radius. Communication is poor. I took a commercial vacuum in for an estimate, told him m it was commercial and it says commercial on the vacuum and he has several commercial customers that have commercial vacuums. He told me he would call me later that day or by the next morning at the very latest. 4 days past so I called him. His wife answered the phone and said he just got around to opening it and he would call me within 2 hours. Another few days passed and still no call so I went back to the shop. She told me the part had been ordered and I would get a call when the vacuum was ready. I told her I didn't authorize any repair and just wanted an estimate. She said in that case he will call you. He is out of town for 3 days and will call you when he returns. 3 days after he was supposed to return still no call so I go back to the shop again. He is there this time and he gives me every excuse in the book. Oh this vacuum is commercial, the part is on back order. Once again I told him I was only looking for an estimate, I didn't ask you to order the part. Oh don't worry he said, if you don't want the repair I will not charge you anything. I took my vacuum back and don't expect to hear from him. I don't know what the big deal is? Find out how much the part is and decide how much to charge for it plus labor. I called Bissell and they are shipping me the part and I will get it in 2 days. I should have just done that to start instead of being without a vacuum for over 2 weeks. read more

Been going to the shop for years and today made the last. They called me to tell me the price for fixing my vacuum, $50 bucks. WTF! I bring my vacuum here every six months to have the belt changed (belt part cost $2.00) I have never paid more than $20 (which is a lot already given the price of the part). I have to be an idiot to have kept taking my stuff to them. let me start by saying that my brother in law gave me two carpet cleaners and i took them to be repaired, they charged me like $90.00 a peice. the machines dident work after them repairing them. I took them back and they wanted to charge me again. So that dident teach me a lesson. i took my own personal vaccum cleaner to be fixed, and it took them three try's and finally they fixed it of cousre charging me each time. i kept going back because i to live on Mcbryde ave, so it was much convenient for me stupid huh. last thing ,took my bissell carpet cleaner to have it repaired and again on the third try it is still not working correctly. i was charged all three times. In my opinion they need to close down. they are not proffessionals. Well finally i learned my lesson. Am know searching for someone to fix my cleaner, someone who knows what their doing. please, please take my advice do not be an idiot like me and keep getting dissapointed by these ripoffs. read more
