The old one was protruding, you can see the old insulation, and it was unsightly. Paul was able to remount the appliance and place it back to its original position. YAY. But more importantly, Paul discovered two live wires hidden under the insulation that could have caused a fire later. He took the initiative of installing a junction box to hook up the wires. It was hard to find a competent company, that didn't sub-contract out the work, for these large column fridge installations. I called for a quote and it was very competitive and said he could come in two days. He let me know I would get a text 30 minutes before arrival which is super helpful for me to plan as I have a newborn at home. He also answered all of my questions in an easy to understand manner. I got the text and Paul and his team arrived right on time. I asked them to remove my old speedy wall oven and install a new combination microwave wall oven in the same space. They did a very thorough job. They insured the power requirements were correct and capped off my 240 V outage and converted it to a 120 V since that was the requirement of my new appliance. I had to replace an older Bosch washing machine that was stacked with a still working Bosch dryer. Airport Appliance who I bought the new LG washer from doesn't install stacked machines unless you buy both of them from them. They also couldn't guarantee (understandably actually) that the LG washer and Bosch dryer could be successfully stacked with the Bosch stacking component currently in place. I reached out to Bay Area Appliance Installation and they said that they could do it - they would bring some extra attachment parts and were confident that as long as both machines were the same size that they could make it work. They had a bit of a wait for installation but it was well worth it. They installed and it was all very smooth. They also handled that the installation was for our rental property with total ease. No calling me for appt confirmations etc. Not asking our tenants to pay for the services. Was able to pay via Venmo - even better! All in all - very smooth, very capable. I recently contacted Paul of Bay Area Installation after GE's installers were unable to install my new oven on the day of delivery. The old electric/gas connectors in the back of my cabinet space were in the way. After reviewing the installation requirements of my new oven, and the cabinet space, Paul suggested easy modifications to the electric/gas connectors. He gave me a detailed estimate of the proposed work, which I thought was fair. On the day of installation, Paul and JB completed the work effortlessly, and in a timely manner. My new oven fits perfectly in the old cabinet space, and it looks wonderful. Paul and JB were also very careful moving the two ovens so as not to bump into any walls and doors. Before leaving, they set up my new oven to bake at 350 for an hour, to clear out any new oven fumes, and cleaned up the work area, which I really appreciated. Paul and JB saved the day! We had some issues getting our Miele stackable units delivered on time, and the previous installer we had scheduled weeks in advance became sick with COVID. To be without a washer and dryer for over a month was miserable! Contacted Paul (after seeing the amazing reviews on Yelp) and he added us to his very busy schedule ASAP. When the day came for our Miele units to be delivered, Paul and JB showed up RIGHT ON TIME for the hand-off, and brought the units upstairs for installation. We were horrified to learn that we were missing an essential piece that allows the units to be installed/stacked and a power adapter. Wow we are so glad we found Paul!!! He is as great as everyone says he is. We needed to install a microwave that's attached to a vent (or microhood some people say). From the very first call till now Paul has always been so responsive and great to work with. We were assured that he knew exactly what he was doing based on the way he addressed the concerns we initially brought up with him regarding our kitchen setup. The next open slot for service appointment was 2 weeks out and this was absolutely worth the wait. Our 48 inch built-in SubZero refrigerator was intermittently turning itself on/off. After an appliance repair technician ran some tests he identified the problem was likely an old loose electrical outlet. We emailed Paul at BAAI pictures of our fridge & plug area and got a response within 15 minutes. They were able to come out the next day to roll the refrigerator out, replace the old crappy (yes it was loose!) outlet with a new one. Everything working great now. Paul and JB rescued my range and downdraft replacement project! They are pro-installers with the right approach, the right tools, and got the job done cleanly. His prices are fair given the expertise. You won't pay the lowest price but his team's skills and willingness to go above and beyond are worth every penny. I moved into a house that had an old gas range and a non-working downdraft hood in the island. Because I did not want to cut through the roof for an overhead hood nor get a new countertop for the island, my only option was to replace the old set with new appliances. I chose a GE Profile gas range and a Kitchen Aid telescoping downdraft vent. Downdraft hoods are not that common. Big box stores and appliance stores will not install them. This downdraft vents through ducting that runs in the crawlspace and we were hoping that we did not have to move the ducting. Before finding Paul, I hired a contractor. They sent a tech who did not know what a downdraft is. After unpacking the new appliances and rip off the old ones, the clueless tech carried the new one to the countertop opening to try to see if it will fit in the original cut out and stand at the right height. I'm not an installer but I knew that's not how you would go about doing it. He then told me that the vent is not aligning properly and will have to go under the crawlspace to see if he can move the ducting. I decided that this contractor was not going to work. I was thankful I finally found Paul, Bay Area Appliance Installation on Thumbtack with a review that he's done great work on their downdraft. I called him in the evening and was surprised he picked up. He took time to hear my concerns, and offered that he was going be in my area the next day and could fit me in. He texted the next day before arriving and got to my house during the timeframe indicated. He and JB arrived each work together very well. They measured the new appliances with measuring tapes several times and measured the countertop cutout, and vent ducting several times before even lifting the appliances. They determined that ducting did not need to be moved. They just need to cut the granite countertop on one side by about a half inch. Paul thoroughly described the game plan which included turning off our main gas line to change out the gas connection in the island and moved the location of the electrical from one side to the other. He gave us an estimate and said he could get the work done in the same visit. He had the proper granite saw and vacuumed to keep the dust down. He made sure to give me a tutorial on how to use the new downdraft, and made sure the gas range, and all electrical outlets work properly after the work was done. He even swept the area where there's sawdust from needing cut open the cabinet (for more working room) and replace the wood nicely back. After turning the gas back on, our water heater, which was situated in a hard to reach spot, would not turn on. He stayed 20 minutes and talked to our plumber and got the water heater gas igniter to light up. My gas range and downdraft has been working flawlessly in the last two months.
