We had a horrible experience with JLKB. Our contractor ordered 3 vanities and 3 sinks through them. The JLKB made at least two mistakes in the order. We waited for 5 months for the items to arrive. One vanity and one sink arrived broken. One vanity had the cabinet hinge on the wrong side. They were poor communicators and didn't offer any remedy for the MONTHs we went without a functioning bathroom due to their ineptitude. Wish we had not worked with them. After so many months of waiting, I am now going to order a replacement vanity via Home Depot. What a flail! read more

I am remodeling my condominium, while investing in bathroom furniture's and fixtures. Jerald was my representative. Down to earth professional, I could tell he had many accounts going. That being said he definitely went out of his way to cater to my needs as busy as he was. The staff was also helpful. Last Wednesday the Toto toilet in our front bathroom was declared dead. The plumber recommended we go to Ashby Lumber to see what they had, but they closed at 5:00 and it was close to that. I went to the Toto site, asked for showrooms in the area and Jack London Kitchen and Bath was the closest. Happily, they were open until 7:00. I called and spoke w/ Shannon Lopez. She was extremely helpful, laughing w/ me over my refusal to consider a white toilet, sending me photos of the one they could order in Bone or Sedona Beige and then sending me a photo of a Bone color sample. We completed the entire transaction over the phone. She said it would take 1-2 weeks to be sent from Toto. I gave her my credit card number over the phone and we were good to go. The next day she gave me the bad news that her boss had told her the toilet was backordered 2-3 weeks. She and I were both unhappy about that but there was nothing to be done. She told me if we canceled the order she would understand. I said we'd stick w/ it, but then Alan and I discussed how there was no guarantee that the toilet would be here after the 2-3 weeks. I have had experience w/ backorders taking far longer than estimated. Tuesday afternoon I went to Ashby Lumber. They had a toilet they could order that would be there the following day. I ordered one and it came in yesterday as promised. Yesterday afternoon I emailed Shannon to let her know our decision. She was understanding, as promised, and the refund has been made. Shannon was a joy to work w/ from start to finish. All the excellent reviews for Jack London Kitchen and Bath are well deserved. read more

Store is beautifully laid out and is stocked with very high-end items. But it's a pain in the butt to get information about the items (e.g., price, availability) and the sales staff, while generally friendly, do not seem very knowledgeable about the store merchandise or motivated to sell it. As a kitchen and bath designer it is rare that I find more than one favorite showroom. Jack London Kitchen and Bath Gallery is the best! They have a wide range for me to show my clients in both style and budget and they work with me, not to sell my clients the highest priced item, but to find the best solution. I've been working with them for about 10 years and if for some reason the associate that I usually work with is out with the flue or something, another associate graciously steps in to assist me and my client so that I don't need to reschedule. As with any showroom I recommend calling in and making an appointment just incase its a busy day, but they welcome walk-ins too. read more

Anyway, in my despair, an architect friend suggested I try Jack London Kitchen & Bath Gallery. Yay. Go JLKBG! In particular, Valerie Simon turned around my miserable experience of having to find a new bathroom sink. She was full-on w/customer service. She checked prices and availability with two companies and relayed all info to me as quickly as possible to me, so that I could act quickly. My builder is waiting to pop this in. Reading other reviews here, I wonder what happened because nothing like those came close to my experience. I will tell my friends again and again to use Jack London Kitchen & Bath and to never never ever go to the big swish showroom (that I won't name) in SF. I live in Mill Valley, but will always return to this shop if I need more items. They are great! read more

Although this place for Bath fixtures was conveniently located and had what we were looking for, the service was beyond lousy. We felt like we were not really wanted there, like our presence and questions were a burden to the staff. We dealt with 3 different people, all of whom gave us negative impressions. Upon our second visit, when we were already in the store ready to buy bath fixtures we liked, we were told we should have made an appointment. Once we placed our order, there was no follow-through, no calls to update us on status of backordered items. The person who helped us (Trudee) then went on vacation without letting us know. Most of the backordered items came, finally, after 3 weeks, when we were assured of no more than a 1 week delay. Highly recommend AVOIDING this place. I suspect they will not be in business much longer. read more

I have to admit that I did not check out Yelp prior to buying a large dollar amount (over $5k) of bathroom fixtures from this store. This was a mistake! I experienced extremely poor service and a bad attitude by everyone at this place, from the sales staff to the owner. First, the staff could not give me a straight answer as to when my fixtures would be available. I had to repeatedly call the store until I finally got a straight answer. Then, I got an expensive bathtub fixture with one small piece (a tiny plastic part) missing from the box. Both the sales person and the owner refused to give me a replacement fixture and insisted that I purchase a brand-new fixture just to replace the missing part! After much haggling and grief, the owner finally agreed to give me half credit for the second fixture I had to buy. Never again! read more

All the negative reviews are accurate. We had the same experience, and you will be incredibly frustrated at having given any business to JLKB. I don't think Ken will fix the problem because Ken IS the problem. We bought over $30K in fixtures from Ken Avery. He is incredibly knowledgable, but he will not respond to your emails, and will not return your calls. He will not tell you if something that you thought was ordered was not actually ordered. He will not tell you that something you thought was shipped is actually backordered. You might find this out after half a dozen emails and countless unreturned voice mails. But by then your contractor will be asking you "where are the fixtures? They were suppose to be here last week." And then your project will be way behind schedule. Save yourself a lot of pain and buy from someone who actually appreciates your business and understands customer service. read more

I did a major remodel 10 years ago and purchased many items from this company, Overall I had a very good experience with them and the sales associate with whom I worked. Recently the hose on my ($800) kitchen faucet began to leak. I went to the showroom and spoke with Ken Avery. He called someone who said the part is no longer available due to some new CA regulations about lead. The someone told him they weren't sure if there was a replacement part. They would check and get back to him. I waited for about 45 minutes for the call back and left with his promise to call the next day. When he didn't call, I called him and found out he was off that day. The next day I called him and he said that he had not heard from the person, but would call and get back to me within 24 hours. That was about 2 weeks ago. In the meantime I called the manufacturer's customer service number and found out the part is still available. They had one they could ship out right away. I asked them if it had ever been discontinued in CA due to lead in the part. They said they had never heard of it and it had never been discontinued. Not sure what to make of all this, but I'm disappointed that I did not get better service. I realize there wasn't any money in it for them now, but I had spent several thousand dollars there during my remodel. Given the high end nature of their store, I expected high end service and I didn't get it. read more

We returned a few times to look around and consult with Brandon as our bathroom remodeling vision began to take shape. But this is exactly the type of dishonest exchange you can expect from this place. I could have kept it open to cause problems for them but I'm not that kind of person. So I'd give 5 stars to all presales. When you order however expect delays, damage to the products and horrendous service after the fact. To start we ordered a tub by giving them the measurements of the bath room. They ordered the wrong size so we had the delay of having to wait for a second tub and the cost of buying two tubs because they don't take back tubs. So now we have an extra tub that's small if anyone wants it. The deliver of the tub was even worse. The delivery person just left the tub in the back of the driveway. My contractor gave him explicit instructions on how to access the garage to drop off the tub and the guy couldn't be bothered to walk down a flight of stairs and push a button. They didn't call anyone to say it was being left outside so the tub just stayed in the driveway overnight. Ordering was a nightmare. My sales person went on vacation and I was sent through a maze of people to try to place an order of two drains. They over charged me for parts and their computer systems being down delayed my job by 2 weeks. The sales manager called the manufacture of one of the vanity I wanted to order from a different showroom to block the order so that I couldn't order it from anyone else adding additional delays to my order. Look on google for other showrooms that offer great selection and pre and post sales. These are the kind of people you WANT to deal with. This is one of those stories about a store that REALLY understands customer service and is willing to go way beyond reasonable expectations. About 12 years ago, we bought an entire kitchen full of appliances for our home from Jack London Kitchen and Bath. Recently the nozzle on our Grohe faucet failed. OK. No problem. These things come with a lifetime warranty, so I contacted Grohe. Well, they were purchased a few years ago and the new owners require the original sales slip if you want warranty service. Who has a receipt from a dozen years ago? So I contacted Matt Hooper who is the Showroom Manager at Jack London Kitchen and Bath. He called Grohe for me and told them I was a good customer (Matt was not even there when I bought this stuff years ago). Grohe shipped a replacement faucet nozzle at no charge to me and I picked it up from Matt. He could have easily said there is nothing we can do as it is Grohe's policy. Instead, he made the extra effort to see that I was treated fairly. You can bet if we redo the kitchen or do a bathroom that I will be shopping at Jack London Kitchen and Bath. read more

If you want a high end Bathroom with WOW factor, I'd recommend checking these guys out.. I worked with Lino Cruz and his service was excellent. Quoted everything up front and most of the prices were competitive. I'm a DIYer so I usually know what I want and buy things online, but I purchased a decent number of items from them and got some great ideas from Lino. He's basically your design consultant and will cut hours and hours from scouring the internet etc. for the perfect hardware, medicine cabinets, faucets and vanities. Bought all of my fixtures here after a recent renovation. I worked with Geri, who is mostly helpful. One star off for being pretty consistently unavailable on the phone. Communication wasn't great. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a company. The personnel are rude, unfriendly and uninformed. Although I was considering a large purchase, I was made to feel ignored and a nuisance if I asked or requested information, I have never written a review before on any matter, but I feel compelled to warn people against dealing with this company. I have to post a second update because my third experience at JLKB was as stellar as my second. Megan is fabulous. She was so great with the bathroom fixtures that I decided to check in with her when I started a kitchen remodel. Megan is incredibly knowledgeable and responsive. I asked her to quote prices on myriad faucets, drawer pulls, sinks, and Caesarstone countertops. I changed my mind several times, which required new bids and she never balked or made me feel like I was being annoying. I went into the showroom several times and emailed with her regularly over the course of several months and she was always wonderful to work with. Once I placed my order, she gave me an accurate estimate of my delivery date and I was able to pick up everything without a hitch. I already ordered (and received) a faucet, a separate instant hot/filtered water faucet, soap dispenser, sink, and disposal and I plan to order cabinet fixtures in the next couple of weeks. read more

I have to let everyone know how amazing my experience was at JLKB. My contractor (see review for Alward) gave me a list of places to check out for my fixtures and tile and I almost missed this place as they had it listed under a different address in Oakland. I yelped it found the address and was greeted by Kevin. I was a wee bit skeptical as the reviews were not the greatest but I proceeded as they were mostly years ago. Kevin was super nice and patient. I'm pretty picky and he played right along with me!!! He never seemed bother by my snubs of his suggestions and even gave me incredible ideas on how to save money in some areas in order to splurge in others. I compared their prices for TOTO and Robern against other places in Oakland and San Leandro and they were the same. So for those who say they are pricey I can't agree...they just have quality products so go to Home Depot if you want cheap stuff. He then introduced me to Mlis for tile. I told her that I had found somewhere else to get tile and she asked if she could just take a look at my job with no pressure. WHOA WHOA what a smart chic she is! She asked me a few ?? after seeing my yucky space she gave me the most beautiful tile options. She gave me all kinds of price ranges to pick from. I made so many changes that I was sure I would get the stink eye from her but no she was sweet, patient and clearly an expert in her field as she would just give me other ideas to choose from.
