Zuta was the second company I contacted after the first one proved unhelpful. I was in need of two repairs: A clothes dryer and a dishwasher. Bo responded quickly. He showed up when he said he would and communicated with me throughout. I am currently renting out my house and not residing there, so good communication was particularly important. He quickly diagnosed and repaired the dryer. The dishwasher was more complex. Again, he communicated with me on a regular basis. When it looked like the repairs would be expensive, he walked through the options with me and showed that a replacement would likely be the better choice, even though he would have made money off the repair. In the end, I did choose to replace it and Bo didn't charge me for the time he spent working on the dishwasher. I would definitely use Zuta again. Our Whirlpool Range was having issues. The top oven would not ignite and the burners weren't as efficient as they could be. I called Zuta after living with the busted oven for a couple months and they were able to send a technician that same day. We should have called sooner! The technician, Mark, was great! He had excellent "bedside manner". He explained the different scenarios that might be causing the problem and then proceeded to diagnose the issue. Used Yelp to find licensed services to troubleshoot and fix both my dishwasher and washing machine. Was able to quickly setup an appointment for next day service. Correspondence was great in that the service technician contacted me and arrived early. Both assessments resulted in potential solutions to correct the problems but nothing definitive. The proposed costs either equaled or exceeded the price for new appliances. The technician overall was friendly and informative but I couldn't believe that I was being charged $85 for the dishwasher and $139 for the washing machine and no actual repairs being done. We received great service with Zut and highly recommend them. We have a dryer and dishwasher which needed someone to look at, and Zut Appliance was able to come out quickly. The technician arrived on time and assessed each appliance. We appreciated his recommendation to hold off on the dryer since the cost of replacing the part wasn't going to make much difference in its performance. My almost new Miele washer dies, family is slightly panicking, and I call the top referral on chatGBT, Zuta Appliance Repair, in Berkeley. They were quickly up to speed on the call, the woman was knowledgeable, got me scheduled easily, and answered all my questions without needing to be prompted, including pricing. Mark shows up on time, texted when he was a few minutes out, and from the very beginning I liked him, intelligent, friendly, and gave me great advice. He was clearly interested in saving me from unnecessary expenditure, and was very open to giving advice as to how I could trouble shoot it, offering to come back if necessary. Miele is a difficult company to deal with, and Mark was detailed in his instructions all of which made sense and were easy to follow. And here's where Mark and the Zuta really showed themselves. I still needed help after trying to make the initial fixes, so, I'm calling for more help, more tech support, cause my family now needs laundry done, and instead of getting tired of me, they're answering texts and offering more help. I call the shop,...again, she remembers me by name, and the job, she's super friendly, tells me that Mark is going to be in touch, there are several back and forths, every time we talk she remembers me, and has all the details in mind. She clearly cares, follows through with everything she says, always when she said she would. Mark calls me, and walks me through the next phase of fixes. Mark's on long days, calling me on a Saturday, not trying to get off the phone, very positive, clearly cares, and his advise is solid and very clear. I can't over emphasize how grateful I am to have him and the shop being so supportive, with my family looking at me,...big question marks in their eyes. This goes on for more than a week, Mark continues to call me when I'm needing advice and he's even getting on the phone with Miele (1hr hold times average) and getting info for the fix that I'm trying to do, they're not charging me for all this, I'm stunned, I haven't had this kind of interaction with a business since.... there were Pterodactyls flying the skies. So today, after work Mark calls me again, and this time I find the problem, texting him pics, and he's looking at them and giving me a whole new slew of advice. Again, at no charge, by this point in the process I spent $85 total, for the initial service call. Zuta appliance is the best service experience I've had in years, I feel like paying them for the time they didn't charge me, just on principle and good manners. To begin, the customer service over the phone with the ladies, and in person with the technician, Mark were excellent. They were kind over the phone, and Mark was clear and quick, explaining the reasoning behind what he was doing and why. Additionally, he arrived promptly and was able to come to repair within days. However, the price was a bit unfair. We had a water leaking from the fridge on the freezer side. He said that they just needed to steam the water line and the leaking would stop. The process was quite simple after removing things from inside the fridge, he used a steamer to melt the ice. But, the cost ended up being $300 for 40 min of work! Then, after calling and asking about the price, they said it was a Service/Maintenance fee, which I understand but I'd rather of paid the $85 diagnostic fee and melted the ice myself! Overall, I didn't have a terrible experience with them, but the price was over the top for just steaming a water pipe, and it only taking 40 min. read more

They were clear about the diagnostic cost upfront, which I appreciated. Mark was fantastic. The first time the Zuta appliance repair person showed up late for the scheduled appointment, he glanced at the machine and didn't even touch it to tell me which filter was the problematic issue. My partner (who booked the appointment but had to go to the office that day so I was the one who let in the repairperson) was amazed to hear that the repairperson diagnosed the problem without even touching or examining the sensor. The second time the Zuta appliance repair person sent me an SMS that they were 15 minutes away, but now it's been 60 minutes and I'm worried they are lost. I'm trying to call back the missed call from another line that tried my phone 60 minutes later, but nobody's picking up and nobody's showed up at my door. Well, maybe third time's a charm? Alex shows up on time as expected the following day and debugs my problem in an hour. Our dryer has a borked condensation pump which needs replacing, and likely will be under warranty. Let me start of with the good - Zuta was very quick to respond to my request for service. They are local and scheduled service for the next day. The technician was prompt, polite and respectful. What happened - On the morning of Friday, 9/20 my wife was washing a load of laundry when we had a power outage. When the power came back on our washer would not continue the cycle. it would show error E03 and F01. After doing some research it was confirmed to be an issue with the water sensor/pump/drainage. Nothing I did seemed to work so I called for service. The bad - The technician came by and took the top off the washer. The washer is a Maytag MHW8200FW0. He was able to reset the electronics, unlocked the washer door (so we could take the close out) and started a cycle. He said the bearings sounded like they were going bad and could be part of the issue. While we were chatting the washer errored again. He said the cost to repair the main board and other parts would be $2k (or there about) and a better option would be to replace it. He charged us for a diagnostic visit of $85 and left. The fix - Something didn't feel right with his explanation so I took another shot with Youtube and fixing it myself. I found that this error has some additional troubleshooting steps so I decided to try them. One solution was removing the back panel to get to the washer filter to make sure it was clean. The other option was removing the pump hose and clearing it of any debris. I started with the washer filter. After pulling out the washer and removing a dozen or so screws I was able to get to the filter. I use a bowl to drain the water while removing the filter. Lo and behold the filter was full of coins and other stuff (pic added). After cleaning the filter I reset the washers electronics system using a process I found on a Youtube video. I then ran the Spin and Drain cycle and it was successful. Next, I ran a full cold cycle without clothes and that was successful. Finally, I ran a normal cycle with clothes and that was successful. I have run 4 additional cycles today without any issues and the washer is back to normal. Unfortunate consequence - Due to the technicians suggestion, my parents went out early this morning to a local appliance store and purchased a new washer. Now we'll have to work with that company to cancel the purchase. Final thoughts - I don't know why the technician didn't do the most basic troubleshooting steps for this specific error (that I've found) water sensor/drainage which is to check the filter. Everywhere I researched this was one of the solutions. I depend on their knowledge and expertise to help troubleshoot these issues. I basically paid an $85 diagnostic fee to research and do it myself. read more

I can't recommend Zuta enough: great experience from start to finish. We needed our dishwasher to be properly re-installed after the brackets came loose do to an improper original install. Penny responded to my request on Yelp almost immediately and got me scheduled for the next day with Mark. Mark arrived within the expected service window, and since Penny had asked for the model number on our dishwasher in advance, he showed up with the proper replacement brackets ready to go. He was courteous, friendly, and did a great job explaining how the appliance was installed incorrectly the first time and why the way he was redoing it would be way more secure (he also educated me on proper cleaning and maintenance to prolong the life of the machine). Best of all, he was able to bend the old brackets back into place so that they'd still be usable, which saved me almost $100 on parts. Thanks for the huge assist, Mark! Mark and Beau (Bo?) came back and discovered that the trouble was how the installers had changed one of the settings. Fixed it in a few minutes. No extra charge from Zuta. I tried to use my oven on a random Wednesday and it wasn't working. I cook with my oven almost every day, so this was a huge issue. The first thing I did is turn to Yelp to find somebody to fix my oven, so I sent a number of requests out to various vendors on Yelp. Zuta Appliance Repair was the first to respond to my request and was the most responsive to my questions about availability. They were able to come on the weekend at no additional charge (they were actually available earlier but I had a conflict). The technician texted when he was on his way (as Zuta said he would) and showed up within the time window they provided.
