What a delightful adventure with Captain Jessie and Rachel this evening in Key West. We were looking for a non liquor oriented sunset cruise and we found the Sunset & Dolphin cruise from Honest Eco . Janet the captain and Jesse the biologist were really nice, relaxed, and so knowledgeable. We learned SO MUCH about dolphins, coral, the geology of the keys, sponges, sharks, and all the fish we saw. And we loved the boat. The owners worked with their naval architect and created the ideal craft for just this trip: Breezy and open but shaded. Clear and clean so there's plenty of room and you're not stubbing your toe on some stanchion. And the electric power is so quiet! We glided smoothly through the water to the sound of the breeze and the gulls, rather than the heavy throb of a big diesel. Clearly the dolphins love that boat, too. They swirled all around us, playing in and out and through the wake for half an hour. And the snorkeling was magical. The spot they took us to was a wonderland of fascinating creatures -- lionfish, bright green moray eels, sponges the size of a LaZBoy, angelfish in neon blue and yellow, moon jellyfish, a school of yellowtail snapper circling curiously around us. And again, Jesse and Janet made it so effortless. And there were the refreshing snacks of fresh fruit. And Jennifer who took our reservation over the phone was so warm and helpful. Perfect day for a family of 5! This was the highlight of our key west trip. We had the boat and captain all to ourselves for 4.5 hours. Much better than going on a boat with many random people. Our captain Evan was full of knowledge, experience, and had quite the eye for wildlife! We saw nurse sharks, crabs, a turtle, an upside down jellyfish, numerous fish, a sunken boat, and various birds of prey. Then we were able to jump in the water for an even closer look! In-between all of the adventure, we received fresh cut apples and pineapples, as well as a baguette with peppers and carrots served with hummus! Delicious! Our family of 5 did the snorkeling, kayaking, and dolphin spotting cruise. Everyone had a blast. Billy and Katie were kind, professional, and informative. They provided water (that tasted good!) in reusable water bottles, an organic and vegetarian lunch, and snack. We saw many different kinds of fish and a sting ray during our snorkeling portion. We kayaked through a mangrove island and learned all about the habitat and environment. Billy kept in contact with other captains on the water and was able to find several dolphins that swam and played around our boat! We never felt rushed and their approach of taking only smaller groups ensured we were relaxed, comfortable, and able to ask any questions we wanted. This was worth every penny we spent and I would definitely do it again. read more

We booked a 4 hour snorkel and dolphin watching tour the day before departure and so glad we did. Honest Eco is a top notch company. The owner Jennifer called me to confirm and was very nice and informative. The crew included Kelcie and Brady who were both extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, and personable. The veggie and fruit trays Kelcie put together looked like they belonged on a magazine cover and she did this all while the boat was rocking in the waves. Weather wasn't the best but the crew worked hard and we were able to see several dolphins which was our main goal along with just getting on the water. We also loved the eco vibe with the electric boat, yeti water bottles etc.. It made us feel good to be supporting a company that appears to be doing it right all the way around. We found this little tour last minute and almost didn't take it but i'm SO incredibly glad we did. Billy brought us over to the dolphins as soon as we got out, and we got to see SO many. Jacqueline was so incredibly full of info about the reefs, sponges, dolphins and we got to learn all about the electric boat! I loved learning so many things I never even considered about dolphins. Got some wonderful veggie snacks to hold us over on the afternoon ride, and learned all about sponges and corals when snorkelin, plus got to see some awesome fish, a string ray and lobsters! Jacqueline was so incredibly kind to take some gopro pics and air drop them to us as we were leaving! 11/10 read more

Take this excursion if you can. Captain Billy and Captain Molly have a tremendous amount of knowledge about the history and future of the Keys. My first time snorkeling and I was so apprehensive. I made it! I enjoyed it so much! We had only 6 people plus the captain and first mate. We had a geographical lesson o. Florida keys, some history, fresh organic apples for a snack, we chased dolphins (in a very safe way to not disturb them), we have fresh veggies, we arrived at our estimation to snorkel, they provided everything for that including wet suites, we searched for fish and other friends in the ocean. Brady, took underwater photos of everything we found so we could just experience everything for our selves. As we each located things we shared with each other. We saw a stingray, a triggerfish, several lobsters, moray eels, giant sponges and many tropical fish. The boat is totally run by solar, quick and very spacious. After snorkeling we enjoyed a fresh fruit platter and they provided towels and blankets. You could also hose off all of the salt water if needed. We rested on the way home and enjoyed the beautiful sunset. I also saw a larger stingray jumping out of the water headed back. What a treat! I was looking for a getaway day in nature. My family booked the 6-hour dolphin watching, snorkeling, and kayaking tour with Honest Eco on 12/27. Captain Jesse and Corbin were super friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The group on the boat was small (us and 3 other families) which really made the experience enjoyable. Yeti water bottles, freshly cut fruit, and a delicious organic and locally made vegetarian (with a ton of vegan options) lunch were all provided. We were one of the only boats that day to see dolphins and we got some great up-close views of a mom and calf! Corbin led us out on the snorkeling and kayaking excursions. He took photos of everything we saw underwater and a few shots from kayaking and shared them with the group on Google Drive. The trip was a perfect combination of adventure and education - we learned a ton about the conservation efforts surrounding the coral reefs in the Keys, research on the dolphin population, and mangrove ecosystems. We did 2 trips. They do smaller groups. The staff is awesome! They educate you on the area and snorkel with you to help spot wildlife. We did the dolphin watch and snorkel trip. Saw several dolphin and a couple swam right next to the boat. When snorkeling we saw a nurse shark, tarpon, lobster and many species of fish. The 2nd trip was the snorkel and sunset sail. We saw some of the same wildlife snorkeling. On the way back they raise the sails and we had a beautiful sunset cruise back. read more

We had a private charter with Rachel today and it was wonderful! She was so knowledgeable about the ecology, marine life and local history. We had a wonderful time out on the water, snorkeling and kayaking. Since it was a private charter we were even able to bring our little dog. We booked our trip a couple weeks in advance. On the day of our tour it was pretty windy out, which was not forecasted in any of our weather apps. I am prone to seasickness but can tolerate the sea well if it's a sunny, low wind kind of day. I really didn't want to cancel the trip because I was truly looking forward to seeing dolphins and had heard such good things about Honest Eco as tour guides. I also didn't want to lose out the money we had paid in advance for the trip. At the same time, I didn't want to get seasick and ruin my time or anyone else's. I was incredibly torn. Standing on the pier, hemming and hawing, I got a call from Captain Mel asking if we would still be joining the tour. With heavy heart, I explained that we would not and the reasons why. She was very understanding and agreed it was a windy day with rougher than normal seas. I didn't ask for a refund because ultimately, it was my decision not to go. Others with stronger sea legs could still enjoy the trip (and did, from what I see of their reviews already). I was pleasantly surprised when I checked my credit card statement and saw that they refunded my money. Honest Eco is a small family owned business that treats their guests with understanding and care - even the ones that never quite make it on the boat. I know for certain that had I booked with a larger, corporate business I would have never gotten a call from the captain to talk out the situation. And I certainly would not have received a refund. It's so nice to work with a company that isn't bound by red tape and can make fair and compassionate decisions based on circumstances. I'm looking forward to our next trip to Key West. Next time, when the sea is less rough (fingers crossed) I'll be booking with them to see those sweet dolphins play in their natural environment. read more

We picked this trip based on reviews and I am so glad we did. We went kayaking through the mangroves saw lots of wildlife and learned all about the eco system in key west. Then had snacks provided on the boat and snorkeled. Ang, our guide, was absolutely amazing! Very personable and clearly hard working, wants you to have a great trip and learn a lot as well. I'm so glad i decided to take the dolphin watching/snorkeling tour with Brady and Bella. Brady is the Captain and Bella is the first mate. These two really make you feel comfortable and welcome. Bella was fantastic!! So kind and full of knowledge about the ecosystem, marine life, geology and so much more. I feel as if I could have talked to her and Brady for hours. They are both so passionate about conservation and sharing their knowledge about marine biology. You can really tell that they wake up every day and love what they do! There aren't a lot of people that put that much heart into their work. These folks truly do!! My husband and I had never been snorkeling and it was a wonderful experience. We saw a few moray eels, a Lion fish, schools of grouper, snapper fish, along with sponges, and coral. It was an amazing experience that I would do over and over again! I'm so thankful I decided to check out this trip! It was beautiful and peaceful. I can't rave enough about Brady and Bella. We even were able to watch the sunset on our afternoon trip. This is a great independently owned and operated company. We were on the Squid and it was awesome. Jeff and Caleb were very knowledgeable and friendly. We also had the fortune of meeting the owner Billy. All three of them were awesome. They really care about conservation while providing you a great experience. This was our first trip to Key West and my wife was petrified of the ocean. They did a great job making her feel comfortable and she snorkeled/swam in the ocean for the first time.
