This was my second time driving from Columbus for the heavenly food at Honest Indian. It's that good!! Everything we've tasted is flawless. Start with pani puri, dahi puri, masala papad or dozens of other stellar appetizers - all are exceptional. Move on to a generous thali with lots to sample, killer Indo-Chinese (I will dream about their Chili Paneer!) or the special dosa, which was like a work of art. My coworker highly recommended this place (his favorite restaurant in Cincinnati) and I'm glad I got to try it! We tried a variety of foods and they were all tasty, although a bit spicy for my partner and me even at mild. The portion sizes were large and the plates crowded our two person table. A lot of food to take as leftovers! The restaurant was busy with families over Thanksgiving weekend. I got take-out from this vegetarian Indian restaurant, to get a feel of what they have to offer, and found a small, comfortable decor. The host/waiter was pleasant and helpful. And the food was tasty and at times inventive. I tried the cheese-baked pizza, to see what spin an Indian restaurant would make on this dish. And it didn't disappoint. Yes, the breading seemed too thick and tough to eat. But the authentic spices made this a delicious and flavorful bite nevertheless. I also got the dal tadka, and also found it delicious -- I didn't miss the meat at all. Even the butter roti was good -- I love that it was served in a heat-preserving pouch, which I've never seen from any other restaurant. We decided to stop here and try it because another Yelper recommended it to us. It's an Indian vegetarian restaurant. It's excellent. It's a special place! We started with Pani puri, interesting puff balls with yogurt. Delicious. I had the Kattappa sandwich. Serving size here is large, I couldn't finish it and it was excellent! Love love love the food!!! We were told this location follows Gujarati recipes so we ordered all North Indian food. Have not tried any South Indian food here yet. Dahi puri was SO GOOD! The crunchy puri, cold sweet yogurt, spices, sev etc were all point! Pav Bhaji was really good too. The spice level was just right. The pav was toasted in butter and the bhaji was just what I was expecting from a good pav bhaji Paneer Makhani - I thought nothing can beat the dahi puri, but the paneer makhani hit it out of the park! It tasted like wedding food in India. The gravy was so well made, paneer was soft and the rice served with it made it a good combo The best thing at the end was the paan. Their Vada Pav tasted delish!!! This is a 100% vegetarian restaurant and they have all great food options and this is GREAT!. They have vegan options too. Their customer service is good. The place is cozy for dine in. They also do carry out. They have parking in front of them and on the side too. They are located in this shopping mall kind of area and you have more space to park on the side. They are open all day long and do not close after lunch hours. A chain which proudly displays its global reach, this place offers a wide variety of vegetarian Indian cuisine. I sampled a chana puri (chickpeas with fried bread) and a veg manchurian, which I asked for spicy and which were. Despite the fresh onions and a bit of pickle on the side, the chana puri here was not quite as good as the one I got at the Louisville Honest (which was incredible). Still, it is certainly quality comfort food. My manchurian was, despite being the dry version, more sauce than dumpling, but it was a zingy flavor. I would not say the service was the best, as I was waiting around without water having had some spicy and salty food. I would say that there is plenty of deliciousness to be had here. read more

Honest is honestly okay. Not for the ones looking for the most authentic Indian food. However, it somewhat satisfies Indian food cravings and taps into nostalgia. We went in last week to get some Chaat and pav bhaji. I ordered the samosa chaat and my friend got the plain pav bhaji. Upon first glances, it's common to think- wow, the prices aren't too bad. When the food arrived, we realized why. The quantity isn't generous. It's not too little, but smaller than you'd expect. The samosa chaat was okay. It was spicy and needed some more tang though. The pav bhaji was average too. Not authentic Bombay style, but I can't describe what's missing. The flavors aren't perfect, but it's not bad. All in all, I can't sum it better than this: the food is alright, just doesn't taste perfectly authentic. I appreciate the attempt though, atleast it serves pav bhaji. read more

Tried this place because it was close by & i was craving some paneer bhurji & saw they had it on the menu. I ordered it spicy with roti & some onions & peppers on the side. I've had indian food all over the world & this is honestly the only place I've had with paneer bhurji served this way. it's usually scrambled paneer with spices added & this had scrambled paneer in a curry gravy. Quite impressive Mumbai style street food. Table side service is nice but the kitchen was a bit slow and a decent part of the menu wasn't available due to shortages of certain supplies. They do make their own white bread buns which was a pleasant surprise. This is a chain but a new store so I look forward to seeing them work out some growing pains. I will be back! read more
