Happy to see Northstar Cafe at Liberty Way and expanding from its Columbus roots. Love the ambiance fair prices and fresh food. Although I like the Buddha bowl, thought I'd try the Northstar burger and chicken avocado sandwich. Today was a particularly warm day for March so they had the windows open which created a nice breeze. The line took a bit of time to get to the front but the staff was extremely nice and was able to make substitutions. There a lot of seating so whether you are a party of 1 or 8 there's plenty of areas to eat. The food took about 30 minutes to arrive with the kitchen backed up. There's a self serve water station so we relaxed and took in the ambiance. There's food emphasizes fresh ingredients and the burger and chicken sandwich did not disappoint. The burger is vegetarian friendly and comes with a good portion of kale slaw. The chicken sandwich was stacked tall and super filling. Would recommend to try! read more

I love Northstar cafe! It's a great spot to bring your friends and have a nice lunch. The service is excellent and quick. You order your meal first then pick where you sit. The food gets brought out to you. My favorite item on the menu is the chicken and avocado sandwich. My friend and I also love the duo dip side that includes their housemade pimento cheese dip and their guacamole. I defend recommend stopping by for lunch or dinner! Northstar has a great variety of breakfast and lunch items. The system is efficient as you order while in line before you get to your table, once seated your food order has already been placed making for short wait times. On my most recent visit I tried the black bean burger and it was delicious, I am not a vegetarian and typically go for a beef burger but this veggie burger was bursting with flavor! Went here for the first time today and was blown away by how delicious the food was and how cozy the atmosphere felt! I came for breakfast and enjoyed ordering as soon as I walked in. I ordered coffee and was given the cutest warm mug to take with me and fill with coffee at their coffee bar. I got to choose my coffee and add any cream and sugar I wanted. From there, we sat down at the coziest table with lots of natural light. There are lots of pretty plants and decor all around, and the atmosphere is so fun. This Northstar location offers a very delicious experience that is consistent with its original locations! Ordering is fast and easy at the counter, and props to the cashier for checking with the kitchen when we wanted to order from the lunch menu 10 minutes before it started at 11am. Had to have that Northstar burger!! The kitchen was able to accommodate and though they warned us our dishes may come out a little delayed compared to the rest of the dishes in our party while they fired the lunch dishes, but our food wasn't delayed at all! The Northstar burger never misses and is such a unique and delicious veggie burger. I'd recommend it for any vegans, vegetarians, or veggie appreciators as it's my favorite veggie burger around! The beets put it over the edge. Yum! My husband had the pimento burger and other favorites in our party were the pancakes, breakfast burrito, and turkey/sweet potato hash. Everything is fresh and colorful and portion sizes are pretty good too. I have always felt Northstar's slightly elevated pricing is worth it for the elevated dining experience. Another highlight is that they offer seltzer water with the plain water in the soda fountain. The wait staff are very attentive and take great care of you after you order at the counter. Everything is taken care of at the counter, and it's sort of nice to not have to take orders and pay at the end of the meal, etc. A little different but works out well! Finally, there's free parking around the corner at a lot. Everything is pretty easily accessible in Liberty Center so Northstar is a great option to stop at if you're in the area for any kind of shopping there. read more

I've been here three times while traveling for work, and every single visit has been outstanding. I've tried the Shooting Star, mint iced coffee, ricotta pancake, Sunrise Burrito, warm Applejack cider, Liberty Salad, Mexicali Salad, and the dark chocolate truffle cookie and everything has been absolutely delicious. Northstar Cafe is THE best lunch spot in the area, hands down. Why? Consistently amazing food. Simple at times, but always elevated, and always worth slowing down and enjoying the experience. The food is still 5 stars. Though their menu varies seasonally, which I love, this time around, I ordered the Simple Salad and Black Bean & Chicken Chili. Yes you will love this, and together makes a satisfying, healthy meal. The salad alone is probably the best salad that exists! It will make you like kale, be sad about all the salads you make at home, and realize that loads of dressing does not a salad make. Fresh, fluffy, fantastic...I would eat it everyday! The chili was unexpected, and better than what you'd make at home. The chicken was (seemingly) a slow cooked, pulled chicken, and though I'd say there was too much cheese on top (I bet people ask for extra all the time), it was still well balanced. Even though the meal was excellent, on the chilly, snow covered day, I ordered their Hot Chocolate. OMG ORDER THIS! It is heavenly bliss in a cup, delivered at the perfect temperature. The melted Belgian chocolate puts ALL other hot chocolates (powdered or not) to shame! This is meant to be savored slowly, and because it's so decadent, possibly shared with a friend. But I consumed it all, and have no regrets, other than I cannot enjoy this at home! It's comforting, can cure depression, and dessert and winter warm up combined in one unassuming mug. It's been a while since we have been here and since my family was back in town, they wanted Northstar food. I ordered chicken chili and my wife ordered a pizza, sausage and pepper. They don't have many options to add to their pizzas but it was good. I could have done without the smoked Gouda but it was good. The chili was good and had just enough spice for flavor. $18 for a decent size pizza , the chili was $9, I think. For a bowl, that seems to be reasonable for this area. I know restaurant prices are not what they used to be but if the food is good, I don't gripe too much about the prices. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I came here on a work trip and tried northstar my first night after being recommended their famous veggie burger. then I came here two more times just to try more of the options. every thing I got was top tier. the cheese burger was cooked to perfection. the veggie burger had a wonderful chew and consistency. the chicken sandwhich was juicy. everything was flavorful. each sandwhich came with a bun that was soft, buttery, and perfectly cooked to get a wonderfully delicate maillard flavor. Northstar never disappoints. I was in town for the holidays and had to make it a priority to stop by one of my favorite spots for lunch with a friend. I've tried several dishes on their menu at this point - at both this location and their restaurants in Columbus. This time around, I was in the mood for their Mexicali Salad. Let me just say that this is not your ordinary salad: this is packed full of memorable flavors and textures. The buttermilk biscuit croutons are easily the star of the show, and they're so crispy and crumbly that they almost resemble corn bread. My friend and I also split an order of the french fries and rosemary aioli - which was the perfect little shareable while we waited for the rest of our food to come out. I asked several questions about the food since I hadn't previously eaten at this quick-serve restaurant but she never showed the least exasperation with me. The music was a little loud. Too loud to carry on a private conversation, but perhaps an acceptable volume for large parties. The interior decoration was pleasant and modern. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries. My burger was exactly as I ordered it and the French fries were hot and crisp. I enjoyed my food, the service and (mostly) the ambiance of this Northstar Cafe. I recently enjoyed a delicious lunch with a friend at Northstar Cafe. Parking was a bit of a doozy but worth it. Northstar provides excellent service and great quality food. My friend got a southwest salad and I got a cup of black bean chili. The chili was good, but I wasn't blown away and didn't love the raw onions on top (I would make sure to ask for the soup without those next time). We also got a big order of fries and dipping sauces to split. They totally hit the spot-- especially with the rosemary aioli. The interior is decorated so nicely. We decided to stop in today for a girls lunch, it was my mom's birthday-first time visiting. You get a menu, decide what you want and order prior to seating yourself. We ordered the two dip appetizer, chunky guac and pimento cheese, a cheese burger and fries, a liberty salad, pad Thai, sausage and peppers pizza, an extra side of fries and four waters. We weren't told get our own drinks, when they dropped off the duo of dips we asked about them and she pointed. It was a counter with glasses, condiments, salt & pepper shakers and other pour yourself drinks. The food was ok. The salad was fresh, the burger.. was a burger. The pad Thai had a bunch of mush mash frozen vegetables, a half a cup of peanuts and VERY LITTLE chicken. Take a look at the picture- it had about 3 shredded pieces. It also had a lot of corn in it.. never have ever had corn in pad Thai and no egg, no onions.. The pizza was underwhelming. Very soggy and about 2 inches of edge crust. The stars of the meal were the fries + rosemary aioli and the chunky guacamole. The pimento dip was slightly sour- not sure if it was old or just an odd ingredient used. It was very oily. The color and look of it was so off putting too. They also give you 6 chips. Not sure we will visit again- It was $120 for lunch for four people (including tip). I don't mind paying that when the food is great... but it just wasn't. I definitely wouldn't have left a $15.00 tip (you leave that at the start when you order) if I had known that we would be serving ourselves drinks etc- and all they were going to do is drop off the food- but we weren't told anything other than order here- you live and you learn :) read more

I've been to North Star a lot lately, and my main takeaways are, tasty and clean food, great atmosphere when there isn't a crying baby, and fair prices for what you're getting. My new favorite is the chicken chili, it's a generous amount, the chips are big, just wish it came with a few more. Flavor is great. My go to is the burger. Haven't tried the crazy cheese one, so the classic does it for me. Something about putting the tartar sauce on it they give to you for the fries, elevates the burger so much. And the fries in the tarter keep me coming back. The burger is usually on the pinker side. Does feel like alot of bread at some times, but overall really tasty. read more

One of the few gems within Liberty Center. As much as I cannot stand what is Liberty Center, it's nice that they do have a few great things about it. Northstar Cafe is easily one of them. Highlighting my stubborn stance on experiencing anything at Liberty Center, I've actually participated in two YELP! events at Liberty Center that wound up making me a fan of each place. Northstar Cafe is one of those. Our first visit was part of a YELP! Elite Event. That was separately written up. But, our second visit was tied to our first. During our first YES! visit, there was an issue with one of the meals we ordered. It was easily corrected but took a little time. As a sign of good service, the Team member at Northstar Cafe gave us four business card coupons for a free entree the next time we visit. Not wanting to be the person/complainer looking for something for free, I was grateful and figured we'd one day use them. Fast forward several months and three of us visited again and we used three of those four cards. Two of us each ordered a pizza and one ordered a burger. My order was the Sausage & Pepper Pizza. I have to say, it was pretty great. It wasn't your typical pizza an for me, it reminded me more of a true wood-stone oven Italian quality pizza. They definitely know how to use their wood-stone oven! Fresh ingredients and the crust being just right absolutely nailed it for me. Great pizza. The others liked their pizza and burger as well, along with the sides of fries that were ordered. They do have their own brand of fountain drinks. I personally liked the Root Beer. Funny story - Remember how I mentioned the free entree coupons from our first visit? We used three of the four of those during this visit. Apparently there was a mix up in the kitchen and the burger meal at our table arrived about 10 minutes before the two pizzas. Not a huge deal, but it happened. Our server was also the same young lady who took our order. So she was well aware of using our coupons when we ordered. When she brought the pizzas, the placed them on the table and sheepishly said, "since the pizzas came out so much later...." And with that, she slowly brought out three free entree coupons. Knowing we had used them we could not stop laughing about this. Again - this was not a major issue, we weren't complaining and it seems a bit over the top. But this is an example of the type of service that Northstar Cafe offers. Atmospherically, Northstar Cafe is BIG. It has almost a retro vibe to it. Reminds me of an airport out of the 70's for some reason. But it's clean and nice. Very open and, because of it's design, it can be a bit loud and echo-y. Not crazy loud, but you know what I mean. Lots of space to eat in at one of the many tables or booths. Would I go back? Yes, and not just because I've yet to actually buy a meal from them! Their food has been great both times. I'd love to try their breakfast sometime, but I do hear they get pretty busy. There's likely very good reasons for that. If you've not checked it out already, get over there and give Northstar Cafe a go. It sure beats some of the other chain and sub-par restaurants that people seem to flock to within this mall village. read more

The problem is, most of the times that I've ordered for carry out, it tends to be wrong. I keep returning because they always seem to strive to make things right, which I appreciate. Today my large carry out order was correct, however, upon opening my hash, it had 5 tiny chunks of tofu. Given that this is some arugula, sweet potato, and your protein of choice, I'll let you decide if you think this is a $17 meal. The food here is always great. The prices just for even soda water is a bit much. It is farm to table so I expect to pay a bit more for the type of food. Portions are just right. The cherry preserves and biscuits are just right. Grab your condiments at the drink stand bc they aren't on the table. The staff brings food out however and makes sure you have what you need.
