I have journey far and wide for the best taro bubble tea in Atlanta. This place doesn't even make the cut. I ordered two large taro bubble tea, and I ended up drinking one half way...Couldn't take it anymore threw the other one away, so there goes 12 bucks down the drain. It tasted like wheat mixed with protein powder. Usually when I'm at different bubble tea places such as Sweet Hut or Quickly they know what to put in without asking you some super healthy ingredient. Not amazing. I had been craving bubble tea for awhile now and hit up Honey Bobble for the first time. I ordered a Thai Tea with soy milk. The tea itself was a bit bitter, like it had been steeped too long and we didn't get many tapioca pearls, there were probably only 15/20 in my cup. I heard the girl say they were running out to another employee so I imagine they just hadn't prepped enough. It wasn't a horrible drink but I was definitely expecting more flavor (not bitter). I was at least expecting more tapioca pearls, normally they fill up the bottom of the cup but I was disappointed. I also didn't love the ambiance. I was a devote customer from early 2013 until last month, before I moved out of state. The owners and their family are amazing. The fresh made boba is amazing. The quality of all their teas...amazing. I've only run into issues 2-3 times in 10 years, when they ran out of traditional boba for the day (not a bad issue) or their blenders were broken (I preferred the matcha snowcap slushy). I have only some minor issues with Honey Bubble, other than that, yes, it is as good as it gets! The tea itself is phenomenal. Seriously. I showed up maybe a week or so after the opening, just on a whim as I was driving by. My compadre was skeptical and didn't order anything, so I ordered a large Green Jasmine (clear tea) with Hibiscus Flavor, tapioca pearls and aloe vera jelly. Can I say holy cheet? Because I was all holy cheet! on this bubble tea, and my compadre was really really regretting not ordering one for himself and trying to get some of mine. I hadn't had good bubble tea in a while and it was amazing. The hibiscus is a perfect complement to the jasmine tea, and the aloe vera jelly just soaks up the flavor while adding really sweet (fruity sweet, not sugary sweet) burst of flavor and awesome texture. The mixture of pearls and jelly at the bottom is a special treat to top off some amazing bubble tea. Anyways. The great thing about this place is that they actually brew all of the tea that they use to make it, instead of just adding some powder to water. I'm not much of a milk tea (at least for bubble tea) person, so I've yet to try any of those. I have tried Lychee, awesome, also recommend getting it with the Lychee bubbles if they have them, and Lavender, which is meant to go with milk and was a mistake (still pretty good though). I'm really having to limit my excuses for going here, because I can't be spendin' $4 every time I want some delicious bubble tea- which is basically all the time. That would basically be like going to Starbucks 4 times a week. They do have a punch card, which is a nice touch. So moving on to the rest of the establishment... I haven't tried their other sweets or offerings. Honestly don't know if I'm going to because every time I go it's to anxiously await my fix. I do like: - the decor. it's cute and plush. I tried to do some work in there one time and ultimately felt that it was just too crowded. The tables are small so work space is limited and people are coming in and out constantly so it can be really distracting. Bring headphones or just swing by to get your stuff and leave. - staff. Always nice. As speedy as they can be- they always seem to be working hard, even when there are 5 people behind the counter. Love that. - back parking lot. Park in the back lot. It's gravel but fine. You can tell people not from the area drive to Honey Bubble because they get to the tiny lot out front and take forever to get out of the way while they freak out about the lack of space and no place to park. Don't like: - waiting. I've had to wait about 10 minutes (maybe more?) each time to get my tea. I'm not complaining, because it's been worth the wait, and I think that's a sign that they're doing it right instead of carelessly cranking them out, assembly-line style. All in all: new fave. This place is so over rated. Stopped by today (not my first time) and got a house tea, pistachio milk tea and a salted caramel milk tea. The drinks were so light in flavor. Tasted like a watered down tea plus whatever flavor it was we ordered. The salted caramel had a stronger flavor but due to the syrup, you can't really taste the tea. The tapioca is not good at all. Just because it's in a trendy part of town with fancy seating area and they say they used premium teas (I can hardly taste the tea in all drinks), doesn't mean it's good. So I have literally been coming here since they opened and it's crazy that I am just writing a review now. This place not only gave me my first Bubble Tea experience, but has not been surpassed in over 5 years. I moved from Atlanta to Houston and still haven't found a place that compares. The tea tastes like real authentic tea (imagine that). I know that sounds pretty simple-- but when you are a tea lover the difference between freshly brewed tea and the fake flavored teas is everything. I always get the large Honey Jasmine tea with Boba and Almond Milk. Right up front I should say - I've never had bubble tea before, so I don't have the expertise that many of these reviewers bring. But for a noob, it's pretty good! I've been twice - once for the Royal Milk Honey Tea, and once for the Thai Tea. The former was much tastier than the latter, which seemed watery. The gentleman behind the counter was very patient with me the first time I came, explaining the concept and steering me away from the many, MANY custom options until I got a taste for it. I really like the decor, which is modern asian - dark wood, hard angles. Good wifi, great music, very pleasant to hang out and do work. ALSO, all of their foodstuffs are local! Local cupcakes, local pastries, local gelato. Very cool. And the coffee is fair trade - another plus. They also have a frequent-drink punch card, which is nice. Parking is kind of a horror show - the tiny front lot is weird to see from the street, and difficult to turn around in, and although I read somewhere you can park in the lot behind, there are no signs, and only scary-looking notices about being towed, so I parked on the street. read more

This place has the best variety of flavor options and tea consistency in Atlanta in my opinion. I love how they actually use TEA in their milk teas, unlike other places who solely use a "non dairy creamer" and powder/liquid flavor (which I can't have due to soy). Great alternative milk options (almond, and now coconut as well). My only complaint is that the BOBA does not have flavor. I know they cook it with honey or sugar but I don't think it's enough, good consistency but no sweet flavor. Overall my favorite flavors to get are: Taro, Honeydew, hazelnut, and LAVENDER which is my all time favorite. read more

Okay, now that was some fantastic milk tea. And the tapioca was perfect. Just perfect. I got a large one, expecting I could nurse the thing along and make it last a while. It was simply too good. I inhaled it. Gone in a fraction of the desired time, and here I am wanting more. But what will I do with two milk teas in my system? Yikes! Honey Bubble is nested in a cozy little "corner" shop on Ponce. The insides are comfortable, with darker colors, some Asian-themed decorations, free wifi, and a friendly staff behind the counter serving up your order quickly and with a smile. There's also a small selection of baked goods, and some gelato, too. Oh, and there appear to be some tea-making paraphernalia and Japanese-style snacks for sale, too. The music is subdued and chill. The prices are quite affordable. (And tax appears to be included in the posted price.) But let me once again extoll the virtues of their Signature Royal Milk Honey Bubble Tea (with double tapioca). Cute little shop in the middle of Downtown Atlanta. However, it is hard to spot out since it's covered by a building next to it. There is a parking lot located behind the establishment since the parking in the front is limited and tight. Honey Bubble sells milk bubble tea, clear bubble tea, imported fine tea, and ayurvedic tea. There are also pastries, macarons, sorbet, and gelato. They also sell tea pots, mugs, and artwork. It is located in good location for students from Georgia Tech and Georgia State to come stop by and study since there is complimentary Wi-Fi and large tables and couches for studying. It beats driving to Buford Highway for bubble tea when you can grab it here. The cool part about this establishment is that there is a room with walls that allow for you to draw and doodle with chalk. The staff is extremely friendly and laid-back. Their bubble tea is good since there are different kinds of bubble tea; however, definitely not worth $4 to $5 per drink for bubble tea since I live five minutes from numerous establishments that have bubble tea. This is what I have come to love about Atlanta. These smaller establishments that you can grow to appreciate, that are part of the community. So excited that Honey Bubble is now open and can give me my bubble tea fix anytime I want! There are a lot of great things about Honey Bubble-the interior designing is very cute with lots of plush couches, tables, barstools, a separate private room for a group to do work. Good amount of outlets and very sunny. The parking lot could use a facelift and there is parking in the back if the front lot is full or you don't feel like dealing with tight cramped parking. This is the first place I've ever been to where you can get lactaid (2%), regular milk or soymilk which is awesome. Local cupcakes, macaroons, banana bread, and other pastries to enjoy from Highland Bakery, all good stuff! The price is a little high and the first couple of times I came in I thought it wasn't that big a deal since they use very little ice. However, now is it my imagination or are they chock full of ice? I will have to remember to ask to go easy on the ice next time. I think $4 for a small and $5 for a bigger size is kind of steep, but in order to get cheaper you do have to drive out to Buford Highway which is probably how they can get away with it. The bubble tea flavors themselves are really good and rich in flavor. Tapioca pearls are just right--not too soft and not too chewy. Taro is my favorite flavor which I've ordered 4 times...twice it was watery and twice they got it right. The chocolate mint, salted caramel and signature royal milk teas are good but a little on the sweeter side so make sure you want sweet. My friend got the Georgia Peach black tea and also thought it was too much on the sweet side. Haven't tried the snocap slushies, but I am intrigued! All in all I love the flavors and options and that you can make these as healthy as you want them to be (well for what they are) by ordering lactaid or if you are vegan, ordering soy milk. For starters, people that don't consume dairy (me) will rejoice in knowing that their milk tea can be made with not only dairy milk, but a variety that includes coconut milk, almond milk, etc. - freaking A! :) Right on, HB! Okay, so I've had this on my radar because lots of co-workers have highly recommended this bubble tea place. I'm no boba connoisseur and actually just got jumped on the bandwagon this year. For a long time, I disliked tapioca pearls though I had only gotten them in avocado smoothies at Vietnamese restaurants. I have grown to really like Sweet Hut's take on this popular Taiwanese dessert beverage. I even like Quickly's (though I've only been to the Duluth location and have yet to stop by the BuHi institution). There are a few other places that do a pretty good job. What I love about Sweet Hut's and Quickly's is their tender bubbles. This makes the experience so much more enjoyable. Maybe the ones that I've had in my frozen avocado shake got hard from the sub-zero temps? Who knows. Honey Bubble sells their using honey as the primary sweetener. Beware though. The syrups that they use are sweet enough and I actually go the mango green tea one with no extra honey added. And the tea was quite sweet. I'm not sure if the flavored syrups are made with honey as the sole sweetener... I would venture to say, "No," but I am not 100% certain. The tea was very good, a strong green tea flavor. The syrup was good too. I got the pomegranate variety for bf with no extra honey and he liked the tea. But we both disliked the boba. And this place is called Honey Bubble. This makes the place mediocre at best. The pearls are tough and do not even come within a mile of Sweet Hut's fresh, soft and chewy bubbles. The exterior and interior are really cool and this place is located on Ponce de Leon, which ups its cool factor. Throw in that it's a boba place ITP and that makes it a hugely popular place. I JUST got back from honey bubble and had to write an updated review. Since the last time I went, I had gone a few times and ordered myself a Honey Green tea/Honey Jasmine Green Tea with light ice/no boba/no dairy or soy. This is a clear tea I like to get as a refresher since having milk makes me feel lethargic. Tonight I had gone with my hubby to try out the scoutmob deal, we found out that you could only use it on weekdays but that was fine because the cashier (I believe she was the team leader) was super nice about it. We ordered my usual honey green tea & my husband got the mint chocolate black tea. To my dismay, the honey green tea tasted rather.. disgusting. I didn't understand how it could be so bitter because I usually got it so I had to ask if he'd add more honey. (An Asian-American gentleman) He happily obliged and added more honey. I tried it again, but there was something about the bitterness that made the drink taste like METAL. Thing is, when you don't add dairy, soy, etc. and sugar on top of that, you get the tea in its purest form + the honey. No matter how much you try to add honey to it, the taste can't leave your mouth. When he handed me the drink I thought it would be okay, and I personally feel bad whenever I have to ask to make it over, but we left them tip too so we wanted to be satisfied. We headed out, but I tasted it and it still tasted horrible. We went back inside and I was apologetic about them making it over but I assured them I had ordered this drink several times and didn't know why it tasted so bad tonight. Something I did notice though was that the air conditioner wasn't on as usual. The tea sits there in a pitcher where the drink makers could just "faucet" out the drinks and I can't help but feel the tea must've gone bad. *PLEASE NOTE: I used to work at a boba shop in California. I know all about mixing drinks & the importance of keeping things clean & fresh. I personally enjoy Honey Bubble because it looks like a great establishment but having the tea sit out there & having little to no air circulating can't be good for the tea. Where I worked, everything was put in pitchers and left in refrigerators for us to mix & pour with in our shifts. (This made our job way more inconvenient than for the workers at Honey Bubble since all they have to do is turn the "faucet" notch to get the tea but it was for the sake of fresh tea) We were constantly brewing tea. As much as the antioxidants of teas stay even when left out, green tea can ferment & still get moldy. I couldn't just throw away the drink because I paid for it and I even went home to add more honey. I'm looking at my glass sadly right now because it still tastes like medicine. I want to emphasize that the employees were VERY KIND and HELPFUL enough to make the drink over 2 times; especially the Asian-American gentleman. I didn't want to come off as a diva and say "y'all gotta brew some new green tea." but I'm going to leave the note here so that the owner will possibly make new rules about how long a tea is left out. I usually go to Honey Bubble during the day time so that might explain why the tea tasted EXTREMELY bitter at night if it had been sitting in that pitcher in room temperature level or worse; warm temperature. Honey Bubble is the closest thing to boba you can get around in this city & it has a great concept. I want you guys to do well so I hope you take this as constructive criticism so your business can continue to grow. I know I can make honey green tea easily at home, but we go to an establishment like Honey Bubble for the experience and the convenience. Worst customer service especially by the two young ladies working today. I came in with a cloth mask and they refused my business, they didn't offer any masks of their choosing. I come back with a bandanna over my mask and they still refused to serve me. This is happened multiple times and it honestly just shows how lazy they are. I even saw them turn down people with the paper masks saying that they were backed up and they couldn't do their order. There was no one in the building and they were just on their phones watching videos. It's ridiculous and this is happened to me multiple times. I have given this business multiple tries considering it's on my way to work and I wanted to stop for a sweet treat. Each time more disappointing than the last. I rarely write reviews on yelp but I felt like I had to considering how my last experience went. I can't believe that I'm just now getting around to writing a review, as Honey Bubble has been one of my favorite places in Atlanta ever since I moved here four years ago. I've brought just about all of my friends and family here, plus out-of-towners, and everyone has agreed that this is the best bubble tea they've ever had. The ambiance of Honey Bubble is awesome. There's cute decor, trendy lo-fi hip hop music playing, comfy couches (though some of them are so low, you'll feel like you're falling on the ground when you go to sit down), and sometimes, anime movies projected on the wall. It's a really great place to bring friends and hang out for an afternoon. I like studying here occasionally, but there aren't very many power outlets and the space can get pretty loud sometimes, so it's best to study at "off" hours. The tea is absolutely incredible. My go-to orders are the Thai Tea with Boba and the Clear Mango Black Tea with Lychee Popping Pearls. They offer milk tea, clear fruit tea, many types of hot tea, and slushes. You can't go wrong with any of it. For whatever type of tea you choose, there are a selection of boba, popping pearls, and jellies in various flavors. Beware, food options are scarce. They have gelato, and usually a couple baked things, such as macarons, brownies, or cookies, which are all good. Just don't plan on coming too hungry, as they don't have typical cafe food, like sandwiches or salads. The parking in the front of the building is minimal, but there is more free parking in the gravel lot behind the building (just turn onto Bonaventure Ave NE and you'll see it). My only major complaint is that sometimes, the staff can be a little unfriendly. This hasn't been a consistent experience and most of the time, they're friendly. But even a few days ago, the staff member who took my order was pretty dismissive and looked like she'd rather be doing anything other than standing there talking to me. But at least my tea was good! Honey Bubble is a must-try for every bubble tea aficionado, as well as first-timers... I've converted lots of people into bubble tea lovers by bringing them here! Honey Bubble has been popping up on my Facebook newsfeed (thanks to Tom E), and has been primed in my mind all day. At night, me and some friends were talking about bubble tea or something, and I brought up that there was a Honey Boba opening in Atlanta. They are HUGE fans of Honey Boba in LA, but to our dismay, this was Honey BUBBLE. We decided to give it a chance anyway, so we called to make sure they were still open (they close at 10pm). It is located on Ponce right before Chow Baby. The windows were a little foggy from the rain, so we missed it the first time. Once we got inside, I was completely wowed by their design/decor (see pictures). It almost feels like it should be a froyo joint. The workers also will greet you with a "ni hao" which is a Chinese greeting, even though they aren't Chinese. Today happened to be their grand opening and first official day, so by the time we got there, most everything had sold out including their Signature Roya Milk tea and macarons :( And they're still working out some kinks and perfecting their recipes. COCONUT PALM ($3 Med/ $4 Large) The coconut flavor is one of my favorite coconut milk teas I have tried. It seems like it has a hint of jasmine tea in it, or something floral. However, it is made out of powder and was a bit powdery, but they're still perfecting the texture. CHAI TEA ($3 Med/ $4 Large) This looks and tastes like Thai tea, so I'm just going to call it Thai tea from now on. The first cup they made was really strong since the ratio of tea to cream/sugar was a little off. The manager Lynn came over to ask us how it was, and brought another cup of Thai tea that was more balanced. We really appreciated her gesture and openness to feedback. PAPAYA ($3 Med/ $4 Large) This was my favorite drink among the ones we tried. The papaya milk tea is perfect - not too sweet, not too creamy - and the papaya flavor wasn't overpowering. I highly recommend it. They also are wise enough to stick to what they're good (bubble tea) and know when to outsource when needed. They've contracted with Alon's and Atlanta Cupcake Factory for baked goods, and have Honeysuckle's delicious gelato. All great things all in one place. As I mentioned, they're still working out some kinks, and since it was their first day, I'll let some things slide. The absolute WORST SERVICE IN ATLANTA. If you are black you will be treated like a second class citizen. Don't be fooled by the one black , per shift that they have working there .... the black female plays right along with them they will pretend you don't exist to fit in , I'll never spend another penny here I should have known better when they didn't endorse The mask rule. I ordered a Strawberry Oolong with strawberry boba topping. To my dismay, my drink tasted like straight up WATER, the only flavor being the tapioca strawberry boba. I had my two friends try it and asked them and they also verified this was legit water. I paid $4 for this... so I went back to the counter, and the clerk said, we probably didn't put enough tea in.. Which could have happened (??) but also I know what oolong - especially STRAWBERRY oolong - tastes like and it does NOT taste... tasteless. When she gave it back there was a tint of brown and I tried it and I could kind of force myself to believe there was a bit more of tea taste, but it was still so so weak. I've been here before and I definitely think theyre better at their milk bubble teas but wow I am beyond disappointed and the fact that they didn't make a new drink - rather "added more tea" - not to mention brushed it off like it happens often, made my impression worse. read more

I've always wanted to like Honey Bubble because of its concept, but I think the actual execution is lacking. The staff couldn't tell me anything about the different teas they offered. They couldn't even tell me basic details like if it's a green tea or black tea. On top of that, their menu says you can make a bubble tea with any of the teas they offer on their menu, so that's what we did. However, what we got was extremely watered down. It's as if they steeped the tea for 20 seconds and just added boba and milk. What we got tasted like watered down soy milk. I'll take blame in not saying anything immediately when I saw the dirty soap water coloration of the drinks. Previously, I've had their snow caps (a slushy-like drink), and those are good. You can't really mess up blending ice and syrup. If you come here, I'd suggest getting that and avoiding a tea, unless it's one of their 4 pre-made options you can see at the counter. Overall, I think there are plenty of other boba tea shops in the Atlanta area that serve consistently better drinks. On the plus side, they sell Honeysuckle Gelato in the store and you can ask for free samples. read more

I have many issues with this place, starting with rude service. I have only been there a handful of times and only half of them have been pleasant. The owner is particularly rude and I would not give her business to begin with just because of her rude attitude. Today my boyfriend went in to get me a bubble tea as a surprise. He told me she steam rolled over him and would not explain the process to him. She asked what type of tea he wanted and he said green tea and she finished with "honey green tea" and then he told her he wanted tapioca and pointed at the Aloe jelly for my "extras" there was no Tapioca, which he did not know until I told him. I tried to drink it but it was disgusting. I actually had to spit it out because it made me nauseated. The tea was bitter but also overly sweetened and like I said-no tapioca. Only this weird Aloe jelly that didn't go with the drink at all. They asked him what type of milk he would like and only told him he could choose almond or soy milk (which cost an extra 0.75¢). I couldn't drink it and honey bubble is not convenient to where we live. I called them and the rude owner blamed him and said she could print a ticket on the computer that would prove she made the right thing (but never mind she was the one who put the order into the computer so if she messed up the order printing out a ticket would do nothing to verify what was said) I asked if I could come back tomorrow and she refused saying only today and she will not make me a new drink any other day. Well I took a picture of the drink that I was then completely unable to drink because it CURDLED. NASTY. Now I know why I felt so sick trying to drink it. The last two bubble teas I got... One was the ga peach green tea and the tea was steeped for too long so it was very bitter the other was a taro with black tea and it was sweet but the taro powder they use to flavor it didn't have any well... Flavor. Just generically sweet and slightly earthy. The coffee jelly I added to it had the most flavor in the drink and overpowered the rest of the drink. All in all not impressed. Also their hours, they are not open until 11AM, seems kind of counter intuitive for a coffee and tea place to not be open in the morning... As for decor... There is a grimy old couch that is practically falling apart and you can see stains from people's butts sitting on it. Gross. I will NOT return and I think everyone would be better off just to avoid. Updating because the owner did exactly what I knew they would. If you look and search the reviews for the word owner you will see what I mean. They dismiss any negative feedback as the fault of the customer and say that they are liars and the business is perfect. Terrible business practices. We did not add anything to the drink as you can see it is still sealed and as I said when we spoke it made me feel sick to try to drink it. He was getting me something as a surprise and he most definitely asked for tapioca. And to your assertion that I could have come to one of you to resolve the issues; obviously your responses to my attempt to have this mistake fixed have proven otherwise. read more

Honey Bubble - Bubble Tea Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

First off, it's about time they opened a bubble tea joint in midtown! I'm a self-professed bubble tea addict and end up having to drive towards Doraville or further to get my fix. Honey Bubble has a very cute cafe atmosphere, complete with free-wifi/outlets, plush couches, and even a sort of-secluded study room. The walls are huge chalkboards - which patrons are allowed to freely doodle on, which is pretty amusing. During the first few weeks of it's opening the baristas would yell out a friendly 'Ni Hao' whenever the door opened - in a 'Welcome to Moe's" kind of manner. I think they've retired it though, as no one has done it during my past few visits. The customer service here is great though, everyone's very friendly and helpful. My favorite thing about the bubble tea here are the milk options, they offer regular milk, lactaid milk, or soy milk as the base (please add an almond milk option!!!) - which I wish they would do at all bubble tea places. The thing about the bubble tea here though is the inconsistency - it never tastes the same. I typically order the Salted Caramel and sometimes it's better than before - other times its worse. Their bubble tea just doesn't compare to my all time favorite: Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe on Buford Hwy (Sweet Hut is also cheaper); but still it's usually pretty good. They also offer pastries from surrounding midtown staples such as macaroons from Alon's and cupcakes from Atlanta Cupcake Factory and killer gelato (as well as regular tea and coffee) that pair pretty well with bubble tea. All in all, three stars - it's good but not the best. read more
