I had a really disappointing experience at Legacy Hair. When I first reached out, I clearly asked about permanent keratin straightening. I asked this exact question to every salon while trying to find someone who offered it. Not once did anyone tell me they don't do permanent straightening. Instead, they booked me in without explaining that what they actually offer is a smoothing treatment, which is completely different. I do want to say that Caryn was very kind to charge me less because my hair is shorter. That was genuinely thoughtful, and she is a very friendly lady. But even with that, the main issue here is the lack of clear communication. If a salon doesn't provide the service someone is asking for, that should be made clear upfront. I only found out after the fact when my hair didn't turn out the way it would have with a permanent straightening. Their response felt dismissive and focused more on their "no refund" policy than on the fact that I was never given the right information in the first place. The stylist said she went over the process with me at the appointment, but that never happened. If it had, I would've immediately realized it wasn't the permanent treatment I asked for. Instead, I ended up paying for something I never wanted. Overall, the miscommunication, the lack of accountability, and the unwillingness to make things right left a bad impression. Even though Caryn herself was kind, I still wouldn't recommend this salon if you want clear communication and a place that truly listens to what you're asking for. read more

Rude and incompetent owners damaged my hair and refused to accept responsibility. Went to the apprentice for service it took 8 hours to touch up roots!!! The amount of time spent was unacceptable owner Caryn was there all day but only stepped in to assist later in the day after nearly 6hrs in the chair with an apprentice clearly not ready to work on clients! My time was not valued at all. Then when trying to get the situation fixed such as refund they implied they were not at fault and made me feel completely uncomfortable. Will never go back. They definitely put in the effort. The prices are pretty high in my opinion, I payed close to $300 (including tip) for a balayage. I spent 5.5 hours there and was slightly disappointed in the way my hair turned out, so I called them back a few days later and they had me come in for a complimentary redo and I was very appreciative of this, but then spent another 5.5 hours having three different people do my hair and still didn't help me achieve the hair I was looking for... the service was excellent but I wasn't impressed by the outcome of my hair and even showed them a photo of exactly what I was looking for both times I had come in. EDIT: Don't underestimate this place, I was totally blown away by the extra care and effort these ladies put into making things right! I came back in a third time after receiving a call from the owner, and they gave it another shot and helped me understand the processes better and made my hair look and feel amazing! Went for a pura luxe treatment awhile back and it wasn't done properly by the stylist I booked with (this was my first time). Another stylist was kind enough to squeeze me in to fix it and that worked well. I then made an appointment two months in advance with the new stylist knowing that she gets booked quickly. I then got a voicemail "telling" me that the appointment had been rescheduled and that they put me in for XX date. I then called to inquire and hopefully reschedule for a date that would work for me and was told that the stylist no longer provided and that only one did which was the original stylist that did the treatment poorly. I was met with rudeness, a snarky tone, and a well that's too bad attitude. It's really unfortunate that the customer service is significantly lacking. OBSESSED..with the Salon. I was visiting from LA and had just recently had my hair highlighted. The color was just off and way to brassy of a blonde for me. I couldn't take it, I had to have it fixed ASAP, I found Kaur Lounge on line, they had a lot of good reviews so I decided to give them a try, with my fingers crossed. It's always scary trying someone new. Anyways, this ended up being more of a color correction.. but it turned out PERFECT! The most amazing creamy beige, vanilla blonde. Worst service in town! I gave the esthetician there a few extra chances to get my lashes right but quickly gave up when they were clumpy and had way too much glue time and time again. When I went to another esthetician for a fill, I had to start completely over because mine looked so terrible, the esthetician refused to work with what had already been done. Worst of all, the glue she was using on my lashes was industrial grade super glue!!!! Not even the Nova Lash glue. Needless to say, this was reported to Nova Lash. The circumstance that left me the most frustrated was not the lashes however. This happened when I started to go there for my hair. I started off with a few bang trims. I then scheduled an all over color. Unfortunately some unexpected things happened, leaving me broke, so I had to cancel my color apt. When I came in for just a bang trim, my stylist was extremely pushy, rude and not at all understanding, saying my hair looked terrible... when was my bday?-- maybe someone could treat me to color (yes-- I'm not even exaggerating!!), in the end she talked me into an oil plex treatment that was supposed to be cheap. When I went to pay for my bang trim and oil plex I was shocked at the price- but paid anyways. The worst part of all- was when I went back in two weeks later for a lash fill, she informed me that they "forgot" to charge me for the oil plex treatment and that I still owed them. Paying for that unplanned left my bank account overdrawn and me VERY unhappy. I realize people make mistakes. But I've also worked for multiple businesses and I know that the customer is ALWAYS right and you never pin your own mistake on the customer. If you mess up, the company takes the hit and that's part of having a successful business. I found this to be VERY unprofessional and a terrible business model. 3rd Appointment with Cheryl for Partial highlight.$ 190.00 plus 20 cash Tip Pricey but I believed they had ethics and were professional. One highlight job, she did Great. Then 2 other appointments had highlight service, hair was too dark and brassy, she acknowledged too dark and wrong color. Breakage in front from too much bleach or improper technique. Cheryl corrected and did redo. Looked fine. Put my faith in Cheryl again, assumed she kept records and would have no repeat problems and valued me as a client. I was wrong. Took photos and sent message within the hour after service. Untimely response, went in next morning in person to have Cheryl or Owner Caryn look to see what we could correct. Neither of them would even take 2 minutes to look at my hair in salon or come outside to me. Used Covid as excuse. Argumentative and no concern for my time or dissatisfaction. Now, Cheryl and owner Caryn, refuse to credit my card back and will not acknowledge my concerns. I will seek out a professional stylist and get my hair corrected and lightened. I have requested a refund from Kaur. Cheryl refused prior and today left me a voicemail saying no she will not allow me to come in to correct!! I will repost, hoping they demonstrate business ethics and do the right thing. Shocked the owner Caryn, spoke to me so disrespectful and accusatory. Hope this helps another potential client from the Distress and expense and most importantly, have a better Hair experience. A few months ago I was looking to get my poorly done balayage fixed. I stumbled upon this hair salon and got in contact with one of the stylists Paris. I was skeptical due to MANY poorly done hair cuts and colors from very expensive salons. I closely reviewed Paris's work/pictures on previous clients and was very impressed. I ended up getting an appointment to seeing her the same day. From the start she was very warming and professional as she explained what she was going to do to fix my hair. Long story short she is amazing. She made my hair color exactly how I wanted it! My hair is extremely damaged and she magically made it softer. While the place is quite nice, but experience with the $450 Pure Luxe Smoothing Treatment was not. Part of my hair wasn't treated, so it's still frizzy. I assume the stylist (very new and only trained at the salon - not in a school, which is apparently legal in WA state) just ran out of the solution for my hair and didn't want to use more. The fact that part of my hair was missed was confirmed by my highly experienced hair colorist. I contacted the salon and communicated with the owner. Once I sent photos back showing the frizz, I never heard from them again and my subsequent follow ups were ignored. read more

After having bad cut after bad cut, and at home hair coloring (black, which was way to dark) I was in desperate need of 1) color correction and 2) a cut to help blend in the mistakes of others. I had an initial consult with Sheridan and immediately knew that she was the professional I had been looking for. A week later I returned to have everything done. I've been smiling ever since. I have been going here ever since I moved to Bellingham about a year ago and my hair has been perfect ever since. I see Sheridan, I show her a picture tell her the things I like about it and what I want I want that's different and she nails it every time. I recommend this place exclusively, every single person I work with and my boyfriend gets their hair done here. We all have different hair types/styles, curly, thin, straight, bleached, colored, thick, shaved designs you name it. I have never left dissatisfied I only go to Sheridan, most of the people I know do as well but I have seen cuts and colors by the rest of the staff and they look great. I keep my hair an icy blonde color, probably get it dyed/cut 3-4 times a year primarily to color the roots since the color never gets brassy and barely fades. I highly recommend this place, great atmosphere, wonderful staff, Sheridan knocks it out of the park every time and is incredibly versatile. Keep up the good work guys! read more

A big thank you to Cheryl for the beautiful job she did on my American wave! This alternative to a perm has proved a big improvement to the feel, texture and overall health of my hair. After 30 years of perms on very straight hair , the American wave has left my hair with beautiful, long lasting curl without damagining my hair. In addition, this shop has the best customer service model I have ever seen! I am always greeted immediately by more than one person when I arrive and offered something to drink and asked if they can do anything else for me. ( They always remember to offer me the newest people magazines, they know it is my guilty pleasure.) Every employee in the salon acknowledges me with a smile if I glance at them. Every time Cheryl washes my hair I get a wonderful, slow, scalp massage, and their sink chairs recline so my feet are up and relaxed to enjoy my pampering time. It is hard not to feel like a queen! For starters, I am a hair stylist. Whenever I call a salon to make an appointment, I do not disclose this information, (but it normally is brought up within the first five minutes of my appointment.) I had never been to this salon before and was really excited for a new change of scenery. Today I had an appointment at 1:45 for a balayage with a root shade. I arrived five minutes early, was greeted and offered water by a friendly receptionist, who then told me my stylist was running a few minutes behind with another client but would be with me soon. I know first hand how things can easily get backed up so obviously had no problem with this...at first. About twenty minutes later (now 2:05) my stylist came out to tell me she was doing a blow out on someone with "a ton of hair" and would be with me soon. I appreciated the fact that she kept me updated but was starting to get curious how much longer she was talking about. I waited and waited and was finally taken back to her chair at 2:37! If she originally told me it would be another half hour I would have gladly rescheduled. When we finally got to my consultation she tip toed around trying to tell me we didn't have enough time to "fully saturate" my hair and there was "more to do than I told her on the phone." She then went on to tell me that the whole process would take over three and a half hours which we didn't have time for even if she was running "20 minutes behind" .....at this point I had been there for an HOUR basically to be told to reschedule for a longer appointment which made me think she was trying to dupe me into getting a color correction (super expensive & unnecessary on my hair) when all I wanted was lightener applied to the ends and a root shade.... I was and still am annoyed that she tried to say I only waited for 20 min when I wasted a huge chunk of my afternoon there. A client's time is just as important as a stylist's, and I didn't feel that she understood this at all, so needless to say I left without rescheduling. At the end of the day, expecting a first time client to wait an hour is unacceptable. Would give two stars but the space is clean, bright, & well-decorated, and the receptionists were friendly. read more

I had the most horrible experience at this salon today. I was asked what my price range was when I arrived during the consult, I said $200..then the upselling started like I had never said anything. I was urged to spend almost $100 more on my cut and colour. We agreed on a number and proceeded. I had to keep checking to see what she was doing to my hair was included in the price we'd agreed on. I was kept in the chair a total of 6 HOURS! The place was cold so I froze... for 6 hours. I got a great hair cut from an attentive stylist but the colour was not what I'd wanted after all of that This was ignored and I was basically told it WAS what I wanted. Amazing! I had brought in pictures of the colour I wanted, I referred to them often, there was no room for ambiguity! No apology was made for the excessively long wait and no one acknowledged at all why I was annoyed. Not only were no ammends offered but they took an opportunity to try to sell me product I had already refused TWICE when I finally got to the cash. I hate being treated like a dollar sign. The total was $30 more than I had agreed to and I had had enough of it all at this point. I refused to pay the extra. I was treated like a criminal and asked to keep waiting some MORE while the owner was called about the matter. After 5 minutes of actually waiting (ERG!) I paid the amount I had agreed on and foolishly tipped my hairdresser and left. I left enraged. I found out a very aggressive message was left by them on my phone. AVOID this salon!!!!!! read more
