my fav place to come when i'm home from school. they recently changed their chicken tenders and they're SOOOOO much better. lots of breading on them. they sell everything individually so don't forget to order fries. they do give you a pretty large amount. my fav appetizer is the tumbleweeds, they're like super thin onion rings. read more

This place is a real hole-in-the-wall, and not in a fun way. I have to give at least one star, hence the rating, but the only thing good about this visit was the one employee we dealt with at the counter, who was very sweet and pleasant. She was the only good thing about this experience. HoneyBadger Grill is perfect if you have an overwhelming craving for grade school cafeteria food. Otherwise, you should just keep on driving. My husband and I wanted to take a drive to look at the Fall colors, and he decided to drive from our home in O'Fallon, Missouri to Troy, Missouri because it's not far from home, and it's kind of a rural drive, so lots of trees. Even though the drive does indeed have a lot of trees, there's also a lot of trailers and rundown shacks with broken down cars or farm equipment in their front yards. So much for the view along the way. My husband had found HoneyBadger online and we stopped there for lunch. They have menus in a holder on the wall, and you decide what you want and order at the counter. The menus appeared to be printed on a home printer and placed in plastic sleeves, and the one I grabbed had runny print from liquid having been spilled on it, despite the plastic. My husband got the BLT and I got the ham and cheese sandwich with tater tots. My sandwich was a couple of slices of ham and one slice of American cheese, on a bun, and that's it. If the bun was toasted, per the menu description, I sure couldn't tell it. It had the taste and texture of a Wonder Bread hamburger bun taken fresh out of the bag and put directly on the plate. One reviewer commented on how fast the service is, but honestly, how long does it really take to open a bag of hamburger buns and put some lunchmeat on one of them? It's also really cheap, but I'm sure it's just because they'd be embarrassed to charge much for this "food." The tater tots weren't fried like you usually get in a restaurant (I can't believe I'm talking about tater tots, but here we are). They seemed to have just been heated up in the oven. I took a couple of bites of the sandwich, and I was struck at how unbelievably dry it was. I took it apart to see what kind of sauce or condiment it came with (mayo, honey mustard, something?). Nothing. Just bread and cheese on a hamburger bun. I walked over to the self-serve condiment table, and they had literally everything BUT mayo. Luckily, my husband's BLT had a packet of mayonnaise that he hadn't used completely, so I was able to squeeze some mayo from his meal onto my sandwich. I asked him how his BLT was, and he said the bacon was really hard and way overcooked. The cherry on top was the nasty aftertaste that was stuck in my mouth all the way home. Overall, this was just disappointing. The decor wasn't even cute - it had an industrial warehouse kind of a vibe, which I could have overlooked if the food was edible, but it's just not. I have followed them on social media for so long and am just now getting the first opportunity to eat here. They have the friendliest staff, quick service, and the best food! As someone that has lived their entire lives near the BBQ capital of the East (Lexington, NC), nothing matches the quality of HoneyBadger's. We go here way too often. Food is delicious and so is the ice cream. If I had to say something negative is that they are closed often. For school dances, for vacation, for I don't even know. Sometimes even weeks at a time. It's like a mom and pop restaurant but has grown to a point you shouldn't have to check Facebook to see if they are open before you go. The HoneyBadger was a yelp suggestion as we were passing through the area and we took one look at the fries and we were in. The fries were great! Lots of crispy pieces and not greasy. I enjoyed the Western burger and my friend had the chicken wrap monthly special, which was really good with the HoneyBadger sauce. We also treated ourselves to the fried pickles and would definitely order them again. The food and menu options are amazing! There is definitely something for everyone here. My only complaint is we stopped in about an hour before close and the workers started taking the soda nozzles off while people were still in the restaurant eating/drinking, when other patrons and myself when up to refill our drinks she seemed annoyed by having to put them on.. I've been in the service industry for years so I understand only having that 30 minutes to an hour left but that was definitely a little uncomfortable. I've only been twice, but both items I tried were fine, nothing more. The angry tacos weren't event miffed; they would have benefited from more, actually any, heat. Maybe I misunderstood what the "angry" in "angry tacos" was supposed to mean. Bland at best. The HoneyBadger sandwich was also a bit on the bland side. I liked it better than the tacos, but would probably try something different were I to go a third time. It was messy to eat by hand, which I could overlook if it were a bit tastier. I will praise them for their house made French fries. Those were very good, especially when hot, and were the reason I gave them a second chance and three stars instead of two. Ultimately, any new restaurant in Troy, even a three (or two) star place is a good thing. We need some variety and new blood in the Troy restaurant scene, so I'm sure I'll give them one more shot. If you live in town, it's worth a visit, at least. I will agree with another reviewer who complained about the tipping system. Not only are you asked to tip before the meal, but the place is essentially self service. They bring you the food, but you order at the counter, get your own drinks/refills, and have to schlep yourself back to the counter if you need anything. No one was coming by to check on us. However, more and more places are expecting tips for little or no actual service, so I guess it's up to me to resist the social pressure and reduce my usual tip, if not ignore the tip button altogether. read more

So great! The people working are so nice. The food we got was fantastic, and the prices are good. My husband got the chicken Philly, with tumbleweeds added, and a side of mac n cheese. Lots of cheese in that meal, lol. He loved it! Rhe sandwich was pretty large! I wasn't as hungry, so I got a side salad and baked beans. The salad was fresh, and delicious. It was impressive for just a simple side salad. The beans had great flavor! I've had some other dishes, before, and not been disappointed yet! I do recommend people try this out. read more

Plenty of seating options, both table and bar-style. Free refills available with a self-serve drink station. My only complaint is that the buffalo chicken sandwich wasn't spicy, and hardly had any sauce on it. However, I asked for some extra hot sauce to have on the side and it was no problem at all! Great spot! Was in town for work and stopped at this place for lunch. Staff was extremely nice and upbeat. Had the grilled ham & cheese with a side of cheesy hash browns. It was fantastic. Also had one of their gigantic cookies. It was good too. They were doing 2 for 1 cookies that day so I gave the other one to coworkers.
