Had a tough time reviewing this place. Many nice things, but a couple of items were below expectation. Came here for breakfast. Great, location, great ambiance and decor. Service was good as expected. I love a good corned beef hash, so I ordered their home made dish. Great flavor, and liked the twist with the hollandaise sauce. BUT, the corned beef was very chunky, chewey, and in some insrances fatty. To the point that the fist dish had a chunk of beef about 3/4 inches. Had them redo the dish. In my opinion the beef needs to be trimmed better, slow cooked more and chopped smaller. The second issue is the price. I get it, this is not your small town diner, but $20 for corned beef hash and two eggs are a bit pricie, even for this type of place. Having said that, the portions are really large. So maybe reduce portion size and charge less? Regardless, I would come back as the other dishes looked really good! read more

We really enjoyed the brunch at the Honeycomb Cafe! We had the french toast with bacon and the breakfast burrito. We were very satisfied with our selections...and of course we indulged in a couple of mimosas. We went on a Saturday so it was very busy, our wait was about an hour but we were able to walk around the downtown area and grab coffee down the street. It's really hard to find great brunch in Gaston County but this spot has earned its place on my list! read more

Belmont was a quaint town and we picked Honeycomb Cafe our choice brunch after hiking. Note we did have a reservation for 2 and were seated right away. I recommend reservations as it is a small place. The staff was very attentive and pleasant. The menu and the specials provided much variety. It was hard to decide. I was going to have the short rib bowl but they were out of it so I opted for buttermilk pancakes with fruit on the side bacon and eggs. My husband got the Fall Harvest Bowl that was on the specials menu. And we had sweet tea for our beverages. We throughly enjoyed our food experience and will be back. read more

Went as a group of 6 with 3 kiddos. We were seated quickly in the back, food came out fast. Menu isn't super descriptive. Kids eat free during first hour of service with the purchase of an adult entree which is awesome! All the kids got the pancake and fruit from the kid menu. Good quality pancakes and berries. What an absolute gem! Small, quaint, cute, and welcoming. This Cafe has a mighty menu packed with flavor. My husband and I came here for brunch and were impressed with the food! I opted for the Honeybee Benny but swapped out the english muffin for a biscuit. My husband chose the huevos rancheros. We both agreed that the food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully executed. I kept my eyes strictly on the breakfast menu. I was overwhelmed by the yummy choices, which is why I kept my eyes OFF of the lunch menu. At a glance, there were several dishes I easily would've chosen, and I couldn't handle that level of indecision! We cannot wait to head back here and work our way through more of the menu. Cute little spot in downtown Belmont. Came for brunch Saturday around 1 pm. The waiter was helpful regarding the menu selections. I ordered "Bee's Best Breakfast" with a pancake and a side of grits. Also ordered the iced coffee - this was a little watered down in my opinion. Three different flavors (vanilla, caramel, and chocolate) are offered for the iced coffee; FYI they charge $1 for the flavors. It's also an additional $1 charge for cheese with scrambled eggs. I didn't know of these charges until the bill came. Enjoyed my entire meal. The grits were a little "gritty" but not too much. I like my grits a little creamier. If you are paying with a card a 3.75% fee will be added to your total. read more

The Honeycomb Cafe is such a cute little spot, on Main St, in "historical downtown Belmont". And, it's not just a cute spot, they have great food too! A couple of weeks ago, I decided that I wanted some pancakes. I'm typically a Snooze Eatery snob-those pineapple upside down pancakes are chef's kiss, but, I decided to look at some spots in my area. There are several cute shops downtown Belmont, so, after reading some reviews, I settled on The Honeycomb Cafe. I made a reservation for this weekend and was not disappointed! Greeted right away, we were seated in the front dining area, where the full bar is on display. There's an area in the back that I did not see. Lauren/Laura (forgive me, it was said fast), was a great server. She was attentive, answered our questions about the menu, and really made us feel like we mattered in her day. I ordered the dark chocolate iced coffee, pancakes, fruit on the side, no whip or powdered sugar, the breakfast potatoes, and bacon. My husband got the Huevos Rancheros with breakfast potatoes and coffee. He enjoyed the freshness of all of the ingredients and really enjoyed his meal. I typically like my regular pancakes to have crispy, buttery edges. These were not that; however, they were delicious. Fluffy and delicious-they tasted almost like a sweet cream batter. The fruit was strawberries and blueberries, and they were perfectly ripe and delicious. The honey peppered bacon was amazing. Perfectly cooked, peppery, but I didn't detect any honey. Get the breakfast potatoes. My only desire would be that they would have some crunch to some of them, but they are beautifully seasoned and well cooked. I actually finished eating before my husband, and that never happens. I like strong coffee, so, if you do too, their regular brew is not gonna cut it for you if you're having your first cup of the day. It has a mild flavor, great for drinking a black cup of coffee, if that's what you like, and my iced coffee was good. You can add as much syrup as you'd like, I just got 1 pump of the dark chocolate (I would add at least one more next time), and added some half n half. It was perfect for me. I don't remember if there was music playing! There's a TV over the bar that's not playing sound. There were so many good things on the menu, so, I can't wait to go back! I'm excited to try that Short Rib Bowl! If you want a guaranteed delicious breakfast, try Honeybee Cafe! Then, walk down the street to the park and do a loop! I met a friend on Sunday about 2 weeks ago. Not impressed. We were there at 11 am and it was crowded. The tables are so close together that you can hear the conversations from the strangers beside you. By noon, people were waiting for a table and standing RIGHT OVER our table instead of waiting outside. It was very uncomfortable. Food was pretty good but overpriced. Got bacon, eggs and grits. I'm pretty sure my peach and lavender mimosa was just cheap champagne with a splash of purple drink, but I still enjoyed it thoroughly. Only slightly negative would be that the service was really slow. But, I saw our server spending time with a regular and hugging her goodbye, which was really genuine - I'll wait a minute for that! Went here with a buddy a few months ago and got an iced latte, which tasted fantastic except for the fact I ordered it decaf and got it fully caffeinated. My heart got stuck at like 8,000 rpm's and needless to say I didn't sleep much that night lmao. When we arrived we were told the wait may be around an hour. They took my number and said they'd call when our table for 2 was ready. My daughter and I had no real plans, so the wait didn't bother us as the cafe is situated on a street with a park nearby, as well as boutique style businesses. So, we ended up going to get some cotton candy (before breakfast...IKR) and just walked the block a bit. We actually ended up getting the call about our table being ready around 20 minutes, so we just walked back to the cafe. Oh and by the way, we didn't have an issue with parking - around 11:30am on a Saturday. We were seated, the server came to us quickly. I don't drink alcohol so I asked for a Ginger Ale with their Peach Lavender Syrup with was made for me with no problem and tasted Aahhh-mazingggg! My daughter ordered the Waffle with Hot Honey Chicken and I ordered the Early Bird Sandwich with Hot Honey Chicken. My sandwich came out with the regular fried chicken so I did need to ask about the hot honey and I was given a choice of getting it on the side or it being remade. I just asked for it on the side and I was able to pour it on myself, which worked itself out that way anyway. My daughter and I decided we enjoyed the place and would definitely return to try out different meals, although I've heard from others (not reviews) that they enjoy this place as well. I went there today and to be totally honest I don't think it was really anything special at all! This place looks so beautiful on the inside and from the outside. I made a reservation online which was simple and easy to book. The negatives is that my food was cold. I got the breakfast burrito which only had eggs, cheese barely any , and then came with a little tiny side of sour cream and salsa. There were a few potatoes in it that must've been made the day before or pre made because they were so cold. I wish that there was tomato and peppers in it or some veggies ?? Avocado or something. First, reservations are recommended. This restaurant is small and intimate. To reduce wait time, make a reservation. Hands down one of the best things about this place is Alison, the bar tender. We frequent this place on the weekend after a long morning stroll to be sure it's after the legal alcohol serving time (because you definitely won't get served a second before (respected)). The drink menu consists of lots of fresh drinks including lavender, orange slices, honey and barrel aged drinks. We ordered the French toast Sammy, the Huevos rancheros and the breakfast sandwich. All were delish! The Huevos rancheros is on the special menu and I hope this is a keeper. All the ingredients were fresh and the flavors came together so well on this dish. My favorite is the old fashion. The French toast Sammy was good but a little to heavy for me. It consists of two pieces of French toast, scrambled eggs and bacon. The combination was superb but your have to be prepared with a hearty appetite. My favorite dish was the breakfast sandwich. The biscuit was amazing with just the right consistency. The eggs and bacon were just enough to not be overwhelming or underwhelming for the biscuit. The grits and potatoes were hot and good. The chefs there take time to make sure the dishes are presented and plated well and that the food is great tasting. The service is good (we usually eat at the bar with Allison, who is always helpful with suggestions and knowledgeable about the full menu). Will definitely be back! read more

The best place in Belmont for breakfast we were told...so we stopped on a Sunday pm the way home to SC. Located in historical Belmont on Main St. and is charming inside. We had coffee (worth mentioning) and classic breakfast fare. I had the bees breakfast w avocado side, Rye toast, bacon and scrambled. My wife had the healthy "rise and shine" with egg whites, avocado, green onions and tomatoes. The accompanying fruit was super fresh strawberries and blueberries . Went with my good friend and we had some delicious gourmet cocktails made by the youngest bartender in Charlotte and shrimp and grits. For drink I had the Donna's Summer and it was perfectly sweet for me with a little spice from cinnamon - yum! My friend and I went here for lunch. The waitress acted as if she was scared to talk like she would say whatever quick and then disappear . We both had the chicken sand-which I had fries with mine she had pasta salad. The actual chicken was pretty good the coleslaw on the sand-which was bland no flavor. I asked for BBQ , honey mustard , any kind of sauce to give the sandwich flavor they had none of those. The fries were just fries nothing special about those. Oh I forgot to add I had pasta salad and it tasted like plain pasta so I sent that back for fries. The pineapple mimosa was good and tasty tasted like real pineapple juice. Not much room when you enter from the street to the hostess stand but waited a very short time and was seated without a reservation..... while the table wasn't ready, it was quickly wiped down. The food arrived timely and at a good temperature. I had the French Toast Sammy. It tasty very good, so I was sad it was a tad small. I may have gotten the butt of the loaf soo.... The breakfast potatoes were soft redskin potatoes with a decent flavor. The waffle was a nice size and fluffy but the flavor was lacking, though the fruit and cream helped it out. The eggs and bacon were cooked to order and very good. The Honeycomb has a nice a atmosphere and the service was good. Our waitress/server, Rachel was polite, patient and pleasant. Exploring the area on a Saturday and came across this spot. Awesome logo design and cute interior with an inviting menu at the door drew me in. On a busy day, I was seated with no delay. Front looks tiny but there are more tables in back. For an appetizer, got the Honey Peppered Bacon Deviled Egg. Came with at least 6 deviled egg halves. Bacon bits sprinkled on top were super crispy and tasty. The honey drizzle was perfect. Very much enjoyed. Would love to come back for a proper breakfast, but since it was lunch time, got the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. No skimping on chicken or other ingredients. Had a nice kick with the sweet honey to even out the flavor. Oh, and the fries were spot on. Nice light batter and fried to perfection. Loved this place and will definitely be coming back. read more
