I was extremely disappointed with the treatment I received at this establishment. This was my first visit after hearing in the McDonough mom group that they had the best braised wings, but unfortunately, my experience was far from positive. The staff, both the man and the woman, were incredibly rude. Their tone toward customers was unprofessional and unwelcoming. At first, I thought it was just me, but while waiting, I witnessed another customer being treated the same way. We even discussed it and both agreed that we would never return. It's disheartening to see such poor customer service in our community. If you choose to operate in our neighborhood, treating customers with respect should be a priority--after all, we are the reason you're in business. This was my first time and last time buying food from here. I normally cook but I decided to stop here because I was in the area. The food was nasty. I ordered 2 orders of lo mein, chicken wings, 2 shrimp egg rolls, orange chicken and fried riced. When I say everything was nasty, I mean everything. I tried to return my chicken wings because they were not fresh. The chicken was hot but not fresh. The lady at the register argued me down about the chicken is fresh, how they prepared it and how they sell a lot of chicken wings and wanted to give me a whole lesson about how they never sell old chicken. She didn't take the chicken back nor offer something in place of the chicken. The chicken was dry, discolored and the chicken bones were b/ darn brow. The orange chicken was not fresh, they put sauce on old chicken, the fried rice taste like cardboard, the egg rolls taste very fish, like the ocean and the lo mein- first off those aren't lo mein noodles, the sauce didn't stick and it was watery. I didn't even bother taking any of the food back because of how the lady at the register acted about the chicken wings. $50 down the drain. I have eaten at a lot of Chinese restaurants and this by far was the worst experience. I advise you NOT to eat here. Save your money. I wish I had looked at the reviews prior to ordering. If you're looking for somewhere to eat at this exit, I would not recommend the Hong Kong Cafe. The employee was very helpful and kind. However, the food was not something we would like to eat again. We are big Chinese food fans and always look for new places to recommend to friends! Sadly, the fried rice had no taste and the chicken lo mien only had about 3 pieces of chicken in it. The spring rolls looked nice, but we could not finish them after one bite as the taste was very off. Also, if you are planning on dining in, keep in mind that it is take-out only. I have been going to this restaurant for several years. This was my go to place for Chinese. We ordered at least once a week, but this past weekend I had a horrible experience. I called in my order, that came up to $44 .My husband went and picked up the food. We made it back home, began to eat the food and found a long brown hair in my chicken fried rice. I was devastated. I had my husband call and re-order the rice as I headed out to the restaurant. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I gave my phone number and asked for the owner. The owner, which was a middle-aged woman came out. I told her the situation and showed her the hair that was in my food, because (I'd brought the container with me). She then complained that we didn't let her know over the phone that we were bringing it back, which I don't really think makes a difference. I'd done that because I wanted to be sure that the new rice was made when I arrived and I wouldn't have to wait more time for it to be re-cooked. She told her daughter to give me the rice as she walked away in a huge huff. As I was walking out, she came back to the counter and said that the hair that was in my container was red and they don't have red hair. I explained to her that the hair was actually a brown color, and nonetheless, my hair is gray and my husband who picked the food up, is bald . She continued to state that it wasn't the color of her hair, which, in essence, didn't make a difference IT'S HAIR!! Without any type of an apology or explanation or just a "I appreciate you for bringing this to my attention", She walked away and left me standing there. Every time me and the fam are craving some Chinese, this is our go to. I remembered my dad tried going elsewhere and I was extremely disappointed. He knows better now lol. This place isn't aesthetically pleasing but it's pretty good and you'll get your food in no time. When I ate meat I use to get the general tsos chicken or chicken and broccoli. Vegetable tofu soup is great! Not too salty, not too few vegetables. Perfect balance of vegetables and broth. I also tried the spring rolls which were not too greasy and delicious as well. Hong Kong is a family establishment and the kids are helping the parents are helping each other. I enjoyed their food it's fresh to order and hot! When I got home the only thing I did not like was the fact that the brown rice isn't real brown rice and it's a little hard. But everything else is really good I live up the street so I go every now and then. read more

I ate a pick-up meal from here and it was great. I had hot and spicy chicken which was excellent. It had the right blend of vegetables and meat and the right amount of spice. I had plain fried rice instead of the white rice that came with it and that too was perfect. While eating, I also reached over and sampled some of my friends shrimp lo mein and that too, was good. Popped into this nondescript hole-in-the-wall (which, so happens, sits next door to the immensely popular La Parilla [Mexican restaurant]) because I was having hunger pangs for some straightforward, fast, Chinese. (Unfortunately, here in McDonough, we don't have a Panda Express franchise -- which always provides good-tasting, Americanized, Chinese fast food -- so I've always headed up to Stockbridge or Morrow to crave any Chinese cravings.) Upon entering, the stock decor wasn't the most inviting -- white-tiled floors, peeling front counter (in a baby-blue laminate, no less!), some cheap Asian wall "art," cafeteria-style tables and chairs (all seemingly pushed-out towards the walls). Nonetheless, the food display looked great -- of course, you know the type: great-looking photos of various menu items, all of which makes the mouth water, but, for some reason, always seem to diminish in looks and quality when ordered. Naturally, the first thing I look for in any new restaurant that I go to is the health score: this one had a very good 90. (Hey, in McDonough, where health scores tend to be sub-90 in many eating establishments, this was an unexpected surprise.) As is typical (or stereotypical) of many of these strip-mall Chinese fast food joints, the person(s) behind the counter pretty much cuts any pleasantries and gets right down to taking your order in brisk manner. I ordered a two-item lunch plate, that comes typically comes with fried rice (I ordered my plate with steamed race). My order: (1) Mongolian beef, and (2) Chicken broccoli. I then took a seat and waited to be called when my order was ready. As it turned out, in lickety-split time, my order was brought to me. Like I said, there's nothing fancy here: paper plates and plastic forks. My plate was piled high with fresh-looking, aromatic, steaming delights! The Mongolian beef was very tender and flavorful, without any gristle whatsoever; lots of cooked white onions, along with green onions, as well. (Personally, I would've preferred more green than white, but what was served still tasted great.) The chicken broccoli, too, was perfectly cooked; tender morsels of white-meat chicken, fresh and crunchy broccoli florets, and a flavorful Asian sauce. (A little more spice in the dishes would've suited my fire-breathing-dragon tastebuds; however, what was served was simply delicious in its own right!) All-in-all, I've found a Chinese fast food spot that I will definitely come back to again and again...! read more
