Seems to be a hit or miss. Tonight was a miss. We go on Saturday night lately. The place is usually pretty empty. Got seated quickly. A little girl I'm guessing 7 yrs old came and asked what we wanted to drink and in a couple minutes returned with the drinks. We reviewed the menu then waited and waited. Finally as what appears to be a teenage girl who doesn't speak hardly any English was near by so I spoke up and asked for some service. A couple minutes later an older woman who has been there for years came by and took our order. I ordered the Mongolian beef dinner, white rice, egg drop soup, egg roll. My gf ordered Mongolian chicken with fried rice. Several minutes go by when the teenager brought our food. Only brought fried rice. The soup and egg roll were hot and good. The beef was warm with very little flavor. I don't like fried rice so that didn't help the flavor either. My gf's meal was just warm as well. We were underneath an a/c vent which helped turn our meals cold quickly. The main dining area seemed clean. No one ever came by to check on us. Only to bring the check. read more

Have not been here in 6+ years. If you're not looking for the best Chinese food you've ever had, you're in the right place. The buffet food was cold (12:15 pm). The General Tsao's and sesame chicken were floating in watery juice - not thick and sticky - so you know the breading will be very soggy. Stick to the basics. The chicken wings were plain but good. It's been quite a while since coming back to Mandarin Garden. The food was excellent 15 years ago....but things have changed over time. I hate to report that the food made me ill...but the food made me sick after consuming their pork egg fu yung. I could not only taste rancid oil, but I could feel it with every bite as the four omelette patties were all oily...a very thin oil, but still it was nauseating. The top patties looked fair...but they covered up the bottom patties which were burned. Burnt eggs also added to why I got ill....mixing taste and textures. The appetizers of crab triangles; egg rolls and steamed dumpling were so much less than expected from this restaurant.....so much less than the former quality and care for customers or their health. This was the worst Chinese food we have ever had. The cashew chicken was swimming in a watery oily sauce. Very little meat or cashews. The sesame chicken was a soggy mushy mess. The only positive thing I can say is that the egg rolls were good. This was a top quality restaurant but in the last 15 years it has gone from good to terrible. I don't know why I keep expecting to find good "Chinese Food" down south because I keep getting disappointed. What I will say is that the wings were good and if nothing else, I would go back for that. But everything else was a disappointment. This was my second time trying this restaurant and I will have to find another to try next time. I got their appetizer sampler and their shrimp and broccoli with fried rice. They charge extra for anything other than plain fried rice or white rice. I think sometimes I may be too picky but I like good food so don't know what else to say. The broccoli was very al dente which can be good if you like that. Shrimp was cooked fine and a good portion but sauce it was in was very average. I've had better. Also not a fan of the water chestnuts and bamboo they add in. As for the sampler, it came with fried shrimp, way way way too much breading; potstickers, average; egg rolls, didn't think I could dislike eggrolls but these just didn't do it for me; crab angles, a bit too much cream cheese; and some kind of beef, which didn't look appetizing but actually had a decent flavor. My son and I went to the buffet at 1pm. There were no options and I asked were they going to put out more food. I was told they were putting food out. By 1:30 there was still no fresh food. This restaurant is in Conyers Ga., not far from where I live. I've driven past the place many times over the years and today was my first visit. Service was good. The place was clean, and well kept. No accountability terrible service. Just ordered two large wonton soups from Mandarin Garden on highway 138. Indicated shellfish allergies during my order. Got home and shrimp were in both soups. Called and explained the mistake and said I would be bringing back. Once there I had to ask for a refund as it was not offered and asked for my order to be remade correctly. The male owner laughed and said he would not remake unless I paid for both orders. I will never give this place my money again and will only spend where my money is respected. Shellfish allergies is nothing to play with an as a restaurant owner when such a deadly error was made at MINIMUM i should not have to pay for my order to be corrected. I came in calm and had to ask to be compensated for their mistake. Horrible customer service for what could have been a grave mistake. Just sharing my experience. While shopping at nearby stores, we decided to give Mandarin Garden a shot.  We walked in, clueless about the place, and got a friendly greeting. After reviewing the take-out menu, we settled on two orders of Sesame Chicken--one with fried rice and the other with white rice. The person taking our order mentioned that the food would be ready in 10-15 minutes. Setting a timer on my phone, we walked to another nearby store and returned right on time. As promised, the food was ready when we arrived. We packed everything up and headed home.  The food itself turned out to be good, though, in my opinion, it tasted more like Sweet and Sour Chicken than Sesame Chicken. Absolute garbage. We got food from Uber Eats - which has inflated reviews btw - and the Mongolian Beef was a gelatinous, salty and yet also underseasoned and bland thing of goo. This is one of my two go-to places for Chinese in Conyers. There are qualities of this place that keep my patronage, the key one being consistency. Food is always hot, ready, and flavorful. (Compared to other places in Conyers). I see all of the not so good reviews, and yes, while they aren't perfect .. their shortcomings still outperform their competitors. I recommend the hot and sour soup and the Singapore rice noodles. If your in the mood for Chinese, give them a chance. And if they've done you wrong before, try them one more time. We have been getting take out because there was no dining in yet. Our family was out from California and we were coming home from the Atlanta Aquarium, we were all hungry. What a surprise that they were open for dining in. The interior was super pretty! There was 8 of us so we had a big round table with a huge lazy Susan in the middle for family style. We all picked a dish we loved and ordered it. We had chicken low mein, fried rice, spicy chicken, sweet and sour shrimp, and so much more. Everyone was so pleased! So my husband grew up near here and has raved about this being his favorite Chinese place in the area. He brought me here today and already after getting my egg drop soup, I see why he loves this place. Wouldn't think this little place where it's located would be this good, but it is. We are not having the buffet, we are ordering from the menu and we are ordering way more than we need just to take some back home for my husband since we love 3.5 hours away. The egg drop soup is the best I have ever had, from anywhere. We also got the Flaming App Combo and it was on point. We also had 3 entrees, Moogooguypan, Chicken Rice Noodle and Beef and Broccoli with white and fried rice sides. All of it was so good. I highly recommend this little place. read more

I ordered orange chicken and chicken fried rice plus shrimp Lo mein I was kind of embarrass for them, I have never had chinese this bad in decades. The orange chicken was basically batter dip chicken with some type of sauce with pineapple and cherries I think they forgot it is called orange chicken, as for the shrimp lo mein I guess the shrimp were playing hide and seek because it was mostly lo mein noodle and vegatables. I went two days in a row because I enjoyed the pork lo mein - spicy. It was good. A little over priced though at $9.95. Today I got the same and friend ordered Mongolian beef. I've only ever had sweet Mongolian beef since moving here. Is this a Georgia thing? Strange, but edible, after all, I locd candy. Service was fine, as we were the only ones in the restaurant. Approximately 2:45pm. Earlier in the day they offer a buffet. I'm not into buffets, generally so I can't comment. I ordered Mongolian beef from the lunch menu and at first site it didn't look appetizing. The rice is pretty bland, it had a couple of vegetables at the bottom but just ok. I used to eat here all the time, but my past two experiences were horrible. The last time I ate here they added on their own $5 tip to the check, though they've never done it in the past so I know what extra charges to expect. I tried to brush that experience off, thinking maybe it was a mistake, but today I found a worm in my vegetable tofu dish. I told the waiter about it, who showed the manager. She told me it was "from the corn" and "not a bug" even though it clearly is. They didn't even comp my meal or at least the dish. I'm never coming back here again. I have been a customer for many, many years and in the last few years I have mainly done delivery or take-out. I have favorites we order all the time. We began plant based eating and the Lo Han Chai (I prefer white sauce, special request - otherwise I think it is generally brown sauce). It is outstanding. I request brown rice and it's healthy and delicious! My weakness is spring roll (not as healthy) but, oh, well! My kids have grown up eating a variety of cuisines and it says something when Mandarin Gardens Egg Foo Yong (vegetable of course) is "comfort food". After reading all the good reviews about this place I decided to get some lunch for my wife and myself today. Big mistake the food is horrible, I got the general tso chicken combo, and my wife got kong po chicken combo. The rice was plain and nasty soy sauce couldn't help it, the chicken one or two old reheated chicken, the egg rolls taste like straight grease. Some of the peppers in my wife's food was rotten.
