    Mongolian beef lunch special $16
    Hanaa K.

I came in for a quick lunch. $16 for a lunch special at a Chinese restaurant is a first for me. Even in the heart of Chinatown, lunches aren't $16. I got Mongolian beef and it was decent. I do not think it was worth the price for a lunch special and probably would not return as there are too many other options. I will say that they keep the place very clean and the staff was friendly. Food came out quickly and piping hot. There is no table service and they do have a sign to pick up after yourself and to throw out your own trash. I don't have any issues with that. I actually think we should always pick up our messes but I wanted to put that in there in case you are the type of person who dines out to avoid having to clean up afterward. It's a tiny spot so seating is limited. It's very tight for anyone with a walker or wheelchair. Everything is self service including drinks and condiments.

10/10 best Chinese food I've had since I moved to Burlington! Highly recommend, this whole place is calm and clean, wonderful to just go inside and sit down. The owner is so polite and accommodating, the service and quality of food were absolutely wonderful. I'll be back for sure!

Tried Hong Kong for the first time. It was as advertised and I posted a copy of her menu cover because I think she says it better than I can. It is more expensive than I was used to but I think the recent reviews are unfair. It's definitely more of a party in your mouth on spice and I'd bet that some of the reviews complaining are more upset that it's not their taste preference instead of quality or the dish. It was ready in 10 minutes like she said. She offered me all the condiments. Fortune cookies were free and the Togo payment didn't ask for a tip either. Restaurant was clean and plenty of people eating lunch on Sunday. We thought it was great.

Good but expensive. They have the prices blacked out on their menu if that tells you anything. Overpriced and overrated.

We came here years ago and thought the food was overpriced and bland. Not much has changed. They are the most expensive Chinese restaurant in the area by several dollars. The servings are not great and they charge a 3.5% credit card fee. I usually don't patron businesses that do. But we wanted to give them another chance based on the rating and we were in the area. The pictures, including 3 cups of included steamed white rice, was $68 including taxes and fees. That's a lot IMO. Salad fork shown for reference. The beef and broccoli should be called broccoli and beef. At $23 you'd think you'd get a lot of beef. At that price you can get a decent 12 or 16 ounce steak at most restaurants. But it had way more vegetables then beef. The only good thing was the flavor was pretty decent. The sesame chicken. It had half as much broccoli as chicken. $19. Very very bland. Really almost no flavor at all. Had no sweetness to it at all. The General Tso's Chicken was also $19. I did like that it had a lot of mixed quality vegetables. The heat was perfect but it didn't make up for the lack of flavor. It's hard to explain but it was like I was eating spicy fried chicken chunks with just no flavor. All and all at such a high price for the amount food, mostly bland flavors and credit card fee we will not be back. Staff was friendly and helpful. Phone went to busy signal for 5 minutes. Just ordered there.

    General Tso's Lunch Special

I've been searching for good Chinese food in the area for almost 2 years. My favorite is General Tso's chicken. This was one of the better ones I've had in the area. The portion for the lunch option could've been a little bigger for the price, but I know inflation is affecting everyone.

Hot & Spicy Chicken - Indeed!

WOW! This tiny place serves up some of the hottest Chinese dishes we've ever encountered. The only place that comes close is 35 Restaurant, located then in Cary. They are in a rather large shopping center at the corner of Church St. and Huffman Mill Rd. They have a small amount of seating, but seems to be mainly a take out restaurant. We ordered two lunch specials - Mongolian Beef (an old favorite) and Hot & Spicy Chicken (a new dish, to us at least). The Beef was $6.25, the Chicken came in at $5.95 - both with Pork Fried Rice. The Mongolian Beef was far from the classic version, which is composed of sliced beef (often flank steak), sliced green onions, and a sauce with some heat. The dish here had a variety of vegetables, including very coarsely chopped green pepper, onions, baby corn (awful stuff), and a little carrot, along with the thinly sliced beef. Too many Chinese restaurants use the over-abundance of vegetables in far too many dishes - filler I guess. The sauce was thicker than that I've normally seen, or than that I prepare myself, and there was a great deal of it, and it was extremely hot. The beef was served along with the pork fried rice in a plastic bowl, allowing the sauce to pool at the bottom, and soaking a good portion of the rice - not a plating technique I care for. I'm not phobic about having items on my plate touch, but I don't particularly want everything to combine almost like a stew either. The chicken dish was basically the same - thin slices of chicken (prehaps pounded flat), in the same sauce, in the same amount, along with same vegetables, all served together with the rice in a plastic bowl. The overall effect and taste was the same, as well. We like hot dishes, but these two were a little over the top The Pork Fried Rice was awesome, as good as any we've tried. The grains were perfectly separated, the texture and flavor were excellent, and there was plenty of pork. We'll probably try some other things here - wings, egg roll, egg foo young, lo mein, etc. This is not the place to get authentic dishes, but there is some potential for good Amercanized dishes, which have their own appeal, at least to us, from time to time.

For that price, they give you a ton of food, nice portion size! Now to the important part... How did it taste? It was delicious! The flavors were excellent. I was also impressed by how much beef they put in this Mongolian beef dish. Often times restaurants will pack you with the vegetables, and not the beef itself. The food is always really good -- though to be fair, I usually stick to the same few things: orange chicken, dumplings, beef and broccoli, and their rice. For Mother's Day weekend, I was craving Chinese again and decided to branch out and try the 'house special chow mein.' Because they offer both chow mein and lo mein on the menu, I did a quick search (ChatGPT and Google) to make sure I understood the difference. Everything I read said they're basically the same kind of egg noodles, just cooked differently -- lo mein is soft and saucy, chow mein is tossed in sauce and lightly fried for a crispier texture. Even on Happy Garden's own website, it says under Chow Mein that the dish comes with rice and egg noodles. And "house special" usually means a mix of meats and veggies, which sounded perfect. When I got the order home, I opened it and realized the chow mein was literally just cabbage and other veggies, with shrimp, chicken, and what looked like duck. No noodles. Now, I could've let that slide -- I get that every restaurant does things a little differently. But this was the first time I've ever gotten chow mein with zero noodles. So I decided to call and explain what I expected and what I got. The woman who answered was hard to understand, and after I explained the issue, she took my name and number. When she repeated it back, it didn't sound right, so I repeated it -- and she snapped, "umm yeah, that's what I said!" I apologized and said it just didn't sound right, I was just clarifying. She said the manager would need to call me back and review the order. About 5 minutes later, the manager calls. I start explaining what happened, and she keeps interrupting. So I pause and let her finish -- she goes on about how they make their chow mein. I say, "I get that, I'm just saying mine didn't come with noodles, and I expected noodles based on what chow mein usually is and what your webs--" She cuts me off with "What website!? What website!? Where did you order!?" I tell her, "Ma'am, I ordered from YOUR website, happygardengibsonville.com or whatever. It says under the chow mein category that it comes with rice and rice noodles. So that confirmed, in my mind, I'd be getting noodles." Now, if she had just calmly let me finish and then explained that their chow mein doesn't come with noodles -- just those little fried noodle chips in a bag -- I would've said, "ah, bummer. Can I place an order for lo mein?" That would've been fine. But the tone, the attitude, the defensiveness, the unwillingness to even hear what I ordered and why I expected what I did -- that's what killed it for me. So unfortunately, even though they're right down the street and I've always been happy to support local, I won't be going back. They don't deserve my business.

I looked on Yelp at this place and the ratings are no bueno, but my boyfriend insisted I try it for myself and I not base it reviews. I was extremely hesitant, but took his word for it. I order the dinner combo plate which came with rice if choice and 1 entree and egg roll. I ordered sweet and sour chicken with bbq pork fried rice. The staff was friendly and even help with suggestions. The restaurant itself is super clean, but when I went it was only 2 people dining in and 1 person picking up Togo. I get my food and the portion are okay, I don't think it was worth $12 for what I received. I get back to go eat it and the first thing I notice is there is absolutely no bbq pork in my fried rice. The other thing I noticed is my chicken definitely wasn't sweet and sour chicken. My boyfriend tried to make excuses and was like just try the food.. ugh! I try the chicken first and yep! It wasn't sweet and sour, but orange chicken. I will say, the chicken was tender juicy and very flavorful. Now to the fried rice... it was a complete disappointment. The rice for 1 was undercooked there were no bbq pork in it, it was just cooked in soy sauce with an unnecessary about of chopped onions on it, it was disgusting.
