Delicious American-style counter service Chinese food. I ordered the Home Style Bean Cake. Big chunks of fried tofu, mushrooms, green bell pepper, and onion in a brown sauce. I'm not sure if my family will be returning to this establishment anymore in the future. I do not think that an order has been correctly received by this place in a long while. When you ask for you food to be made a certain way and when you get home, it has all the things on it that you asked to not be on it. The food is not eatable due to the items being on there. When you have food allergies and ask for certain vegetables to be removed. That's money down the drain. If we very do return here, I'll be checking the food. Don't waste your time. If you think customer service is critical for your dining experience, don't eat here. Let's start with the service. The cashier, a young kid, has zero customer service skills and only thinks of you as a dollar sign. My order consisted of shrimp fried rice w/vegetables. Well, the order provided was yellow rice with 4 uncooked shrimp on top. Nothing was fried and there were no vegetables. Instead of addressing the issue, I was told it would cost more money to make it right. Well, that's wasn't about to occur because my order wasn't right. So, I left and the food ended up being very bland and not tasty. This was by far the worse dining experience of a Chinese establishment I've experienced. Until they address the customer service and quality of food served, I will not return nor recommend this location to anyone. read more

My wife and I were in the area fueling up and looking for food when we saw this place pop up on our maps. I hate getting home and having cold take-out. We got the dinner combos and it was a huge amount of food....fed us for three meals. VERY reasonably priced and good customer service. I live just around the corner, and HKE is my answer whenever I need a take-out American-Chinese fix. Often if I have a lot of grocery shopping to do and don't want to cook that night, I'll stroll into HKE, place my order, stroll across the parking lot to the grocery story, then come back to pick up my food before heading home. Their General Tso's is excellent, and their Egg Foo Youngs are solid (and come with one of the most addictive brown gravies I've ever had, anywhere). If you order their Moo Shu Pork, plan to call ahead, as it takes them a while to prepare it (especially due to the pancakes that come with it). That being said? It is DELICIOUS. Their fried and steamed dumplings are good. Heavy on the meat, heavy on the stomach, but very tasty. Egg rolls are good, but nothing to write home about. If you prefer fried rice to steamed with your meal though, prepare to be disappointed. Their side of fried rice is one of the most boring versions I've ever seen, with just a couple of pieces of onion and an almost Saffron yellow color (with none of the brilliant saltiness of real Saffron rice). Definitely go for the steamed rice instead. They do quite well with phone orders. Ordering ghetto takeout Chinese over the phone often feels like you're going to get something totally different when you arrive, but they've always gotten right everything I've called in and ordered. Portions are huge. If I'm not starving, I can get the combo General Tso's with Rice, and a small Egg Drop Soup and feed myself and my girlfriend, plus have enough leftovers for lunch the next day. They have seating, but I've never stayed and eaten there. The booths are pretty much just for you to sit in while you wait for your order if it wasn't ready when you walked in. Great Vegan Option in a small town Was just passing through town, needed to stop at Kroger grocery and saw this place right next door. Popped in and ordered the Vegetable Delight with steamed rice. The vegetables were cooked to perfection. BIG portion of veggies and rice and enough sauce to go with the rice. I was asked if I wanted hot sauce to go with it. I said yes. This is my favorite Chinese spot here in Macon. You can expect to get an inexpensive meal and a lot of food to go with it. Also, the food is prepared, cooked, and served in little to no time. You will not be disappointed with your meal here. However, there is one downside--the fried rice that comes with your meal is not good. I suggest getting the steamed rice. read more
