From the Family Dinner for 2. This is a plate for one person and only part of the meal. Egg Foo Young, Shrimp and Sweet n Sour Pork

I've read bad reviews so I was skeptical. But I thought everything was okay/good and good service. We got a lot of food for the Family Meal for 2.

Under new ownership since mid April 2024. I had to check it out and wasn't disappointed. 1st of all the prices were great. About $10 a dish. Amy ordered the chicken soup and we loved it. The broth was very flavorful, plenary of chicken and noodles, huge bowl for two and cost $8. I ordered Moo Shu Pork. Huge plate of tasty Moo Shu, very good however the pancakes were store bought and were terrible, thats fine, I just ate the Moo Shu without the pancake $10. We also ordered the Chow Mein pork, that was a little different for us. It was not like any chow mein I've ever seen. It was a plate of noodles with brown gravy sauce with 4 slices of pork on top. It was pretty tasty but didn't look or taste like any other chow mein I've had previously. We also had a pot of hot green tea. Take a look at my pictures. It was a lot of food for $30. The waiter was great. He kept our water full and checked on us a couple of times. It's the same decor as before. I dig it. We will be back again.

Ordered the Kung pow chicken lunch special, didn't receive the soup that was supposed to come with the meal . The food was absolutely horrible. The noodles chow mein was cold. The Kung pow chicken had a weird taste to it even though the vegetables were kinda fresh so all in all the only thing good about the dish was the vegetables. Nothing else was good at all....first time definitely the last time.

Food cooked perfectly . So much better than the last owners. Not busy and service was ok . I like the decor and the price was Very Fair! Wonderful value . My new Chinese food spot .

Hands down the worst I've ever had. The honey walnut prawns were decent but the rest was inedible. $50 down the drain.

Excellent crispy pork chow mein. Also Chinese greens with pork, Tripple sizzling delight and the pork fried rice are delicious!

Love the chow mein with crispy noodles. Every time I'm in town, it's my go to spot for Chinese.

We were in town and decided to try something new, and I'm so glad we stopped here! Everything we…read moreordered was absolutely delicious. We had the broccoli beef, orange beef (instead of orange chicken such a great choice!), potstickers, garden fried rice, and plain chow mein. Every single dish had its own distinct flavor nothing tasted the same, which really says a lot about the quality of the food. The orange beef was especially amazing, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The potstickers were tasty, and the fried rice and chow mein were cooked just right. What really made the experience even better was the service. The sweet little older lady at the front was our server, and she was so kind and attentive. She checked on us to make sure we were doing good and even helped package each plate individually to go, which we really appreciated. Great food, great service, and a very welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place if you're looking to try something new!

The best Chinese food in Merced. Also, the only place in Merced that has Moo Shu Pork, one of my…read morefavorites. The chow mein is also incredible. Other favorites are garlic chicken, hot and sour soup, kung pao chicken. Over the years I've tried almost every dish, lots of favorites here. The pricing is appropriate and the portions are generous. We also like that we can order the traditional boxes over styrofoam containers. The service is very quick. I call in our order and it's ready by the time we get there. The ambiance is nice, not fancy. We almost always bring our order home. Try the moo sho pork, it's incredible.

Family owned restaurant. Great food and service. All of our dishes were good . Would go again …read more Check them out.

Upon arrival, the restaurant had plenty of space and a friendly, booming owner to welcome us. We…read moresat wherever we wanted, and menus were brought over quickly. We chose to order: - Imperial Rolls (chicken, shrimp, a lettuce, cucumber, cilantro, and bean sprouts in rice paper wrappers) with a delicious peanut-soy dipping sauce; - Tom Kha Kai soup (Coconut Chicken), Spicy 3 (1-10); - Chicken Pad Kee Maow (Drunken Noodles), Spicy 3 1-10). The food came out quickly and very fresh. The Imperial Rolls were tightly wrapped and stuffed well (albeit more like cigarillos than the larger egg roll size you'd expect). And they had 2 small shrimp in each, as opposed to the pictures in the menu which showed 3 shrimp lining the insides. Cuts happening everywhere. ‍ The Tom Kha Kai was well-blended (coconut and broth melded beautifully and creamy!), chicken, mushrooms, and white onion slices were perfectly cooked in a serving bowl and not the usual sterno-fueled soup contraption. It was mildly spicy and probably the best I've ever had! The Chicken Pad Kee Maow was different than others I've had. Sam Cafe adds in a little sweetness (Tamarind?), broccoli, chunks of cabbage (also slightly sweet), carrots, onions, red peppers, tomato chunks, and basil...along with the requisite large rice noodles and white meat chicken. Truly satisfying and delicious without feeling super oily, burnt, or lacking sauce. The entire meal was a great deal and an amazing find in the middle of the Central Valley! Next time I'm up this way, Sam Cafe is on my itinerary!
