It was my first time in Merced and visiting my friend. I wanted to try it because she has mentioned it many times. Very convenient for both of us since it was down the street from my hotel room. This restaurant is huge, like a banquet hall. Everyone was spread out so it was nice to gossip and eat without anyone listening in, haha! Food came out pretty quickly. It was super fresh and hot. We ordered Panang curry, Thai iced tea, Kra Pao rice, and pork barbecue. Everything was delicious! The restaurant looks decent. It looked clean, and the staff were very attentive. Decided to try this place because it was one of the few restaurants open on Easter Sunday. The wings were crispy, but I just wish they were spicier. The pad Thai was also a little too sweet for me but it was yummy overall. The chili oil on the table helped balance it out. My family has been coming here for probably around 10 years. Service is always great. The food is delicious and the prices are good for the serving sizes. There's lots of space and you can seat yourself at a booth or a table. You can also reserve a table for a large group ahead of time. For fellow vegans/vegetarians, most of the dishes can be made vegan, just ask. You'll have the choice to a replace any meat with fresh/fried tofu or just vegetables. The Thai tea and Thai coffee are both dairy free and vegan. Some of our favorite things to order (vegan) are the pad woon sen, rad na, crispy tofu, papaya salad, krapao tofu, and veggie pho. We've dined here with many people who eat meat and they've enjoyed the meat-based dishes as well. All-in-all it's a great local place, give it a try! read more

My son had a track meet in Merced this past Saturday. Afterwards, my eldest and I decided we needed to eat and jumped on Yelp and found this place. Reviews were decent, photos were inviting and it wasn't too far from where we were. This place is located in Merced's little quaint downtown. Parking is substantial but not on a busy day. When we saw the restaurant from the street the door looked boarded up and it confused us. Then we pulled into the parking lot and saw that the entrance was actually on the side of the building. We walked in and was greeted by an great big room. Almost banquet like. The host greeted us from behind his station and asked us to choose where we wanted to sit. We chose a booth by the window. He soon dropped off menu's and took our drink order. When he came back with our waters I placed an appetizers order: 1. Shrimp stuffed with chicken rolls 2. 2 Thai iced teas 3. Thai papaya salad; medium heat 4. Fried veggies 5. Chicken Basil Fried Rice 6. Chicken Pad Thai 7. Veggie Tofu Stir Fry Everything came out in a timely manner. The khao piak and pad khee mao were one of the best ive ever had. The waiters were very intentive and friendly (i went when it was slow so if its busy and they are less intentive that makes sense cause another time i went i watched them run around and i felt bad for them). I would really like to make this a 3.5 rating but there aren't half stars on Yelp. We ordered takeout and the timing was really good. The restaurant was busy so it was hard to communicate with the woman taking the order over the phone, but we got all the correct dishes. I would rate the green curry dish, five stars. We got it spicy with shrimp and it was AMAZING! Great flavor and they did not skimp on the shrimp. Both of us ended up with spicy lips and a runny nose. That's when you know they brought her heat! The other two dishes were just not as much to my liking. My husband loved what they call Mongolian beef (spicy). He remembered it from a previous order. But other than at this restaurant, I've never had Mongolian beef that is deep-fried. I think it is more akin to the Beijing beef at panda express. The flavor was good, but I don't want beef friend unless it's a chicken fried steak, you know? The Pad See Yew noodles were pretty good, but since I ordered everything else spicy and they were just mild, they seemed to be so much less flavorful. The restaurant did provide a nice chili oil sauce that added to the flavor of that though. All in all, we were both pleased, and we have enough food for at least two more full meals for 2. I'm sure we will be eating here in the future. My recommendation is the green curry. I'll be excited to try another curry the next time we try Bangkok Thai. read more

As you would expect at a Thai restaurant there were numerous options for vegetarians. We ordered Crispy Tofu as an appetizer; the dipping sauce made this dish work. For mains we had Pad Makuer and Krapao Tofu. Basically we enjoyed every dish, all were well seasoned and tasty. Its a good thing the food was good...we were served everything almost simultaneously making it difficult to eat everything hot . We ended up eating the appetizer as a third dish. The beer was served with no glass, not a big deal but unusual at a sit down restaurant. The room you eat in is a very basic large ballroom where presumably provides a canvas for events to decorate as they see fit. Bangkok Thai is a place where you go for the food and are willing to overlook service glitches and lack of ambiance. We would probably try other restaurants before returning. read more

I have since tried their Pad See Ewe, Chow Mein, and Yellow Curry which are all fantastic. The curry was a little spicier than I thought it would be but still good. Their Pad Makuer has too much ginger or garlic...not sure but some spice was just over powering the basil flavor it should have. The Gai Param for some reason did not agree with me at all, something about the sauce tasted off. But over all their food is still great and once you find the items you like on the menu you for sure will keep ordering it over and over. read more

I got a spicy level 7 Combination Pad Thai so good! We shared the chicken and shrimp Spring Rolls with Thai Spring Roll sauce, Peanut sauce, Tod Pla Muk which is golden fried calamari with sweet and sour sauce.. Yummmmy! First time here. Family wanted to come here for dinner. Service was super slow given there weren't many people when we arrived. More people however started coming as were eating and leaving. It took almost 30 minutes for them to bring out our papaya salad. After we were about to finish the papaya salad (10-15 minutes) none of our other entrees have come out. Sis had to go ask if the food was going to come out. We got our curry dish and then slowly all of our food came.
