The pricing is pretty steep for some chinese food. The food is not even on par with panda express (yea, really).

Hong Kong is a great Chinese Restaurant! The Crispy Noodles with Pork Chow Mein is the best!!

I grew up eating at the Hong Kong and NOTHING comes close to their chow mein, fried rice, or pork and egg noodle. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. The food and service have always been fantastic. An absolute family favorite. My brother and I literally fight over who loves it more. read more

I have been going here since 1978, after the Jews Sold the business it has gone down hill! I continue to go to the one by Raleys but the new owners are Not the same.for Six months there has been Been price of rag or mop under the glass on the table, the servers are angry and one time I found a hair I In my 4 price egg roll and the owner wanted give me credit for only 2 because my friend and I ate 2 of the order.. Wtf how gross!!! Cheap ass people ! Employee's complain how bad they are treated.... This place was a bit overpriced for chinese food. I tried it yesterday with my boyfriend and we just ordered take-out. We were like the only ones there so I told him I'd rather go home and eat. We had the beef chow fun, sizzling black pepper steak, and hong kong fried rice. Personally, it was too greasy than I'm used to. Don't get me wrong, I love chinese food and I know it's usually greasy, but this was just covered in oil. The beef chow fun was a bit overcooked because the chow fun, itself, was mushy. The meat was alright, I guess. The sizzling black pepper steak had more bell peppers and onions than actual steak. I felt like this place was a rip off. Had BBQ Lo Mein from this place and by far the worst I had. The ingredients taste like it had been cut and sitting around for days.

It had been years since I'd eaten at Hong Kong. I remembered that I thought it good before so I told my boyfriend to try it. He got rice and sweet and sour pork. The rice was not enough to even qualify as a half order, but he was charged regular price for a full order of white rice. He liked the pork but was disappointed by the quantity of the rice. I had the chicken fried rice and pot stickers. The chicken fried rice was bland and the chicken, which was cut up into very tiny pieces (maybe to make it seem like there was a lot in there?) were the fatty ends of the chicken and a few pieces were not edible because they were so hard and chewy. It was the worst chicken fried rice I've ever eaten. The pot stickers, however, were good. If you love fried rice, I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

The soup was an unnatural shade of yellow. The Almond chicken had a metallic taste. Service was very slow. Big portions.

I love this place! I get nothing but good service and good food every time. When reading these reviews before I went there my first time I was skeptical. But either they cleaned up their act or those were over exaggerated reviews because this is my new favorite place to go. I always get a full plate and leave satisfied. My suggestion is, if you are ever unsatisfied, talk to them instead of sulking. read more

The food here wasn't very tasty at all the beef and broccoli didn't have much flavor and the orange chicken wasn't what I'm used to the sauce was bland and the chicken was over cooked and the sweet and sour sauce was more watery than anything and had little to no flavor I would not recommend this place to anyone read more

The people here are SO nice, they are always timely with their orders and very friendly. The food is great, too! They are very generous with their food, as well. I made three meals out of one order of chow mein from them. They are simply the best Chinese restaurant in town, no debate. read more

Little food for the price. The server seem overwhelm. There was a dirty fish tank by the entrance. Took a while to get our order. They need more people to help out. The table was sticky and the drinking water had a weird taste. The food overall was kind of ok. read more

This place is definitely one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. The workers are so friendly and I have never felt rushed to "eat and leave". The prices are definitely fair and their portions are great! None of there dishes exceed over 12$ and you basically pay the same price you would if you were at Panda Express. I ordered their $12 chow mein and what I got was so disappointing. The chicken, pork and shrimp were so over cooked it felt like I was chewing on a pencil eraser. Without a doubt the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Won-ton soup was mostly broth with about 5 won-tons and almost no vegetables. The chicken in the chow mien had the texture of rubber and a very weird flavor Chow mien was mostly oily noodles and a very small amount of celery. The fortune cookie had no taste. And to top it off the bill was over $17! Don't waste your money. Panda Express is much better at half the price. read more

ok Im reviewing this restaurant because it needs to have a current review...I don't feel like it gets the props it deserves...I think because the name doesn't have chinese in it? therefore, it never shows up under chinese food in merced area and because its in the raley's shopping center so no one sees it....in my opinion this is the best chinese food in all of the area...their crispy noodles and eggrolls are to die for...the bad thing about this place is the prices...Im not going to lie...they are horrid...just to get a combination plate with egg rolls(which is extra) is going to cost you around $15 give or take with tax....this is just way to expensive to eat chinese...but the worst part is their food is so amazing I have to pay it if I want to eat there lol...unfortunately most of the time I just go without it and try something else but bottom line is theres nothing like it here.... read more

I only been here once and i said to my self never again. I came here with two of my friends. the food was not that good, it was way too greasy. I order the mu sho, the pancake was cold and the dish itself was like cover in oil (so digesting). my friends order there specials, i guess. and the soup was like water and msg. there was only one waitress working that day, and it was not at all busy, but for some reason it took her a long time to even take our order, get us drinks, etc. read more

Super disappointed. Used to go to the one downtown as a kid and it was fantastic. So disappointed by the food and service. Will not be back!

My family and I decided to do take out since last Sunday we really liked the food and service. Well tonight I witnessed the most disgusting situation ever. We place our order and sat down to wait for our food to cook. This waitress (Caucasian lady)went and grabbed a small cup to place sauce in it, some spilled on her thumb so she sucks it off and proceeded to close the Chinese little boxes with food in them and bag someone's food up. I told the lady who placed our order what I witnessed and she said oh her she's a waitress so she'll just go take orders. I said no she needs to wash her hands bc that's so unsanitary, waitress or no waitress she's touching people's food and plates. Nonetheless she told her to wash her hands she had an attitude in the process, we definitely won't be back. I can only imagine what goes on when people aren't looking. read more

I have been a long time customer. I ordered a #5 on their menu. When I got it home the sweet and sour pork was totally dry; maybe a teaspoon of sauce on the bottom and I was missing the noodle soup. I called and the food server said noodle soup was not included on to go orders. There is NO to go menu or explanation on the menu...just a #5 that included soup. I then called back and told her that the menu does say that soup is included. She says it is not their real menu (?) and they aren't responsible for what it says when I typed "Hong Kong menu Merced." It is their menu or at least one that they have had. I recognize it. The woman got really rude with me and told me it wasn't her fault and was not her job to fix this problem and that the owners know of this problem. They've been in this town for decades and I would have thought they would care. BTW: The restaurant at the dinner hour was completely empty. Makes me wonder if her rudeness is the reason. The food server didn't even say she was sorry. It could have been fixed with an apology and/or a cup of soup...like the menu said. read more

Absolutely terrible. The chicken in my dish and my girlfriend's dish was rubbery, dry, and flavorless. The MuShu chicken and lemon chicken were seriously inedible, the "pancakes" for the MuShu chicken tasted like, and had the consistency of, a napkin.
