I can't believe I get the honour of being first to review my new favourite bar! For years, I've been saying that Edmonton NEEDS a tiki bar and I'm so happy that Honi Honi has arrived to fill the gap and I'm even happier to see how quickly Edmonton has embraced this quirky space. Reservations for Fridays and Saturdays seem to be booking about 2 weeks in advance so plan ahead. Apparently they've been saving some space at the bar for walk-ins and they aren't quite as busy on Wednesday and Thursday if you aren't on the ball. The entrance to Honi Honi is tucked around the corner of the Crash hotel. It would be easy to miss if you aren't looking for it which gives it a bit of a speakeasy feel. As soon as you walk in, you are instantly transported into a new, tropical world which is a well-needed relief during Edmonton's cold winter months. The walls and ceilings are all decorated with tiki souvenirs and ephemera and the lights are kept low giving it a more intimate ambiance. Once we sat down, I understood why they don't take reservations for more than 4 people. The tables are quite small and close together so it isn't the best spot for large groups. The drink menu is fairly simple but offers lots of options. One half features classic tiki cocktails while the other consists of in-house creations. I started things off with a classic mai tai which is always a great way to judge how authentic a tiki bar is. I'm happy to report, it was fantastic! For my second drink, I tried the Coconut Airway. I usually don't go for sweeter drinks but this hit the spot. It's almost like an amped up pina colada. Everything about my first visit to Honi Honi was as good as I'd hoped it would be. I can't wait to make this one of my regular spots and I've already got my next reservation booked!

This place gets 5 stars and nothing less from me. Honi Honi is exactly what Edmonton needed! As someone who goes to Hawaii as their go to vacation spot this hits home. Atmosphere and decor are spot on along with the music. The service and staff are great. But let's highlight the drinks, the mouth watering cocktails... these usually range in the $14-$18 for 2.5 oz of liquor and their worth every penny. My favorite has to be the captains cut. Must try in hidden gem...

Interior - The owner spent a lot of time curating all of the decor in here! It's so cool!

We were seated near the window, which provided a beautiful view of the river valley. The servers are very quick, professional, and friendly. I ordered a spiced orchard mule and truffle gouda fries. My drink was made with high quality ingredients and was flavourful. My fries were perfectly cooked- crisp and golden, and the gouda and truffle oil provided a rich flavour. I highly recommend this lounge for a relaxed, upscale experience.

It is lovely inside with fireplaces, comfortable couches and seating. Reminds me of an elegant cigar room. I would like to come here during the summer, because the patio has one of the best views of the river valley. Service was great. Our server came repeatily to make sure that we were comforable and happy with what we had ordered. A breakdown of what we had HEIRLOOM PUMPKIN SOUP - coconut cream, toasted pepitas, plantain chips ORGANIC SALMON - Pan seared salmon, Thai Laksa sauce, tiger prawns, tender bok choy, rice noodles, crushed nuts and NANAIMO BAR MARTINI Custard cream, coconut crumb, chocolate ganache inspired by the traditional Canadian dessert from Vancouver Island Food was delicous. The standout was the salmon. Delicous Laksa sauce. Absolutely beautiful. The Nanaimo bar martini was good, but extremely rich. I would say if you are not a huge sweet fan try something else. However, if you love chocolate, this one is for you. For us this was fairly pricey so it would be a once a year treat.

He than followed me and the two bouncers outside calling me a liar and every other name in the book. It was so obvious that he knew the liquor was half water because the second I said something he wouldn't even talk to me about it and instead had me and my girl kicked out on the spot. I am the farthest thing from the type to write reviews like this, so for me to post this I would have to feel extremely snaked out. Moral of the story is if you don't want any of this to happen to you don't attend 117 lounge. Overall rating is a very generous 2/10
