I have to say, Bower you impressed me! Sometimes it is hard to come up with a novel concept without being kitschy or tacky. Or, a place is just too odd that it's cool to go once, but then once was good enough. But I think the Bower is just the right amount of different. It's kind of a mash up of your Great Aunt's sitting room and your childhood neighbours rumpus room (you know what I'm talking about Alberta!) It's dark, cavernous, candlelit environment lends to a romantic feel (after your eye's adjust) and the old couches, chairs, settees and chaise lounges beckon to be sunk into and engage in an pseudo asinine** conversation over well crafted cocktails. The menu is small, very small. But like I always say; a short and sweet menu that is well crafted beats a page turner any day! There are 3 sandwiches, 2 are grilled cheese one meat free, both sound fab. The other an open-faced salmon sandwich. Then there are 2 small plates: Rosemary pecans and olives. Then there are 5 well balanced with one another, cocktails, 2 whites, 5 reds and finally 4 excellent champagnes. Short and sweet. My visit was not of an overly social nature, I was in, had one glass of wine and was out. So I will definitely re-review after a solid night spent there. And, I look forward to that adventure! - Come on, with me, a night out is always an adventure!! Hope to see you there Yelp YEG!! **Listen hipsters, nothing you say at 1am after 5 cocktails is intellectual or astounding, and that is A-ok. Embrace it!

I enjoy coming here and getting my dance on! I haven't been in awhile so it was a treat to be here again. I usually come on Saturday nights when they play house music. Lots of good soulful beats that keep me moving through the night. I have also been on Friday nights which is usually their hip hop night and it has also been very good. The place itself was renovated and re-branded a few years back into a very trendy club with 1920's Parisian decor. It definitely gives it a new sophisticated look and vibe. I think it was a smart move. The drink menu isn't large but the cocktails that they serve are delicious. They also have a small snack section on their menu but I have yet to try anything on it. All in all, it is a great place to come and get your groove on.

I liked it, It made it more intimanite. Menu varies depending on the season. But I am sure that everyone will find something they would like. We chose a few things raw elk with fried capers, shallots & blueberries, the seared scallops with celeriac puree, capers, garlic and butter, saskatoon berry brisket with beef and carmelized onion on bannock, and the pappardelle rabbit ragu with parmigian reggiano . We also took two cockails which was delicous. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was delicious. The stand out was the raw elk. Delicous combination of thing that do a party in you mouth. I would go back just for that . The only thing that I didn't enjoy was the brisket. Way too sweet for me. Be warned it is pricey. Expect to empty your pocket book.

It was similar to a steak tartare with its own twist. If you enjoy steak tartare you will love this. We will definitely be back! Great new local restaurant to support!

Six restaurants strong, this restaurant group features a different vibe and experience at each one, from the more casual to the truly elevated. The consistent aspect between each of them is that you will be hard pressed to find a finer Italian meal in the city. Bar Bricco (the second in the family) opened in 2014 and has since completely absorbed the next-door space that used to belong to Corso 32 (now making it the most senior in the group). The identity of this restaurant is purely "Italian wine bar;" offering small plates, handmade pastas, and an exclusively Italian wine list. Perhaps the most rambunctious of the six, the quality and care toward the food does not suffer just because the atmosphere is louder and younger. (The younger crowd likes nice things too, as they should.) Ranking at #51 on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants 2016, #80 on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants 2017, and #45 on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants 2018, the accolades don't stop there. Avenue Magazine also named them Best Late Night Restaurant 2019, Best Restaurant for Sharing 2019, and Best Late-Night Restaurant 2020. I visited on a Tuesday evening, excited to add to my Corso 32 Group collection. Located in a sleek row Downtown, Bar Bricco can be found next door to its fairly new sister Rita. The exterior isn't flashy - nothing more than a black awning with the restaurant's name printed in white cursive lettering. Inside the space is moody, capturing a decidedly subterranean vibe. Black hexagonal tiles interlock around the bar and white marble table tops contrast against the midnight hues. The space was buzzing with many occupied tables filled with a hip clientele, laughing and enjoying each other's company. It can get pretty loud but that's the intended atmosphere at Bar Bricco. The idea of mixing and mingling is the entire point. Seated at a table for two, our server was upbeat and friendly, matching the feeling of the room. Blasphemy as it may be, I'm not much of a wine drinker so the curated list of Italian wines got overlooked in favour of the cocktail menu. I love a Sbagliato (Prosecco, Campari, Cocchi vermouth - $20.00) and was happy to find it listed - stunning! Similar to a negroni, the difference is that instead of gin the beverage is made with a sparkling wine (like prosecco) instead. This version was adult and delicious but a bit more fun and trendy compared to a regular negroni because you get the effervescence from the prosecco. A perfect palate cleanser, the bittersweet citrus notes help to cut through the rich food dishes like a dream. The menu at Bar Bricco is inspired by the diverse regional cuisines of Italy. Instead of pigeon holing into one specific province, you'll find plates that feature the best that the country has to offer while keeping the dishes simple and playful. A tasting menu is offered where the restaurant can select the plates for your group (never a bad idea!) but on my visit I had already made up my mind about what I was excited to try. Starting with the Lardo & Anchovy Crostino ($11.00). These are served individually so each person will need to order their own. Each piece of toasted bread was adorned with a singular anchovy and then draped in sheets of lardo, a type of salume made by curing strips of fatback. The decadent and salty flavour was right up my alley however I could have used even more anchovy! I know that anchovies can be an overwhelming flavour and it makes sense not to be heavy-handed but I could have eaten at least a second fish. A really nice bite to whet the appetite! One of the piatti that I had heard the most about was easily the Soft Scrambled Eggs 'Cacio e Pepe' (Black truffle, crostini - $23.00) and I couldn't wait to try it for myself! Every egg should taste exactly like this!! Velvet folds of creamy, indulgent scrambled eggs are seasoned with black pepper and pecorino (just like cacio e pepe pasta) and the addition of truffle brings a luxurious element. Scooping these eggs onto slices of chewy crostini felt like the best breakfast ever, although perfectly acceptable for any time of day. I am ruined for eggs because I need them to be like this forever. I had also heard that the Leeks (Whipped ricotta, 'salumi bomba' & mint - $23.00) were magical. Leeks are having a total moment right now and I see them on more and more menus. A good preparation leaves them tender and ready to absorb whatever ingredients they're paired with. This dish was executed perfectly in the sense that it was beautiful to look at and provided an unexpected heat that woke up my taste buds! The spicy salumi bomba was served on top like a meat sauce while the creamy whipped ricotta waited underneath to cool everything down. The leeks were cut into cylinders, allowing the bold flavours to seep down between the sheaths. An inspired dish! Moving on to pasta,

Slap on your sparkly dress and a pair of heels (or wear whatever the heck you want) and make your way to Downtown's pink palace! You'll remember this location as the former home of Fu's Repair Shop and Prairie Fish & Chips before that. The Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2024 list named Dolly's as Favourite Patio and the pictures that I've seen of the back terrace look completely adorable, complete with colourful lanterns. Unfortunately, my visit was in October and it wasn't quite patio weather anymore. I turned up on a Friday evening with one of my best girlfriends in tow and we were ready for the biggest Barbiecore night of our lives! Imagine our surprise when we discovered that Dolly's had been transformed into the "Black Lagoon" for the month of October in the spirit of Halloween. (I probably should have looked into this in advance but I was unaware!) I was expecting Cyndi Lauper and Aqua but instead I got Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson. The whole restaurant was draped in the most spider webs that I've ever seen. There were giant spiders hanging from the ceiling and spooky skeletons in every corner. It was a vibe, that's for sure!! But certainly not the one that I had been anticipating. Bits of pink paint and sparkly chandeliers peeked through in some areas and the neon "Dolly's" sign on the wall allowed me to imagine what the Barbie dreamhouse-esque space normally looks like just a little bit. Otherwise, Dolly's was fully transformed into the moody Black Lagoon. I should've worn fishnets instead of glitter. The servers were all very friendly and we were quickly seated at a comfortable table along the hot pink velour banquette. Dolly's invites you to sip, snack, and stay in their minor-free glamorous escape. The house cocktails and mocktails are a major part of the experience (it is a cocktail bar after all) and I was excited to get a cute pink beverage into my hand! There was also a menu of Black Lagoon-themed cocktails that were all served in fun tiki-style vessels. This menu included themed foods as well. I personally had my eye on the Pink Palace Royale cocktail which I saw on the menu online. Made with a special collab gin with Strathcona Spirits and Licor 43 (one of my favourite liqueurs), this sounded like everything that I wanted in a cocktail and more! Other drinks had names like Dolly's Dreamhouse, Bubbilicious, and the house shot was called the Bend & Snap - exactly the sort of drinks that I had come for! However, I was sorely disappointed when the server told me that the drink I wanted was no longer on the menu. It seemed that I could only order a Halloween beverage. I fumbled to find anything that Elle Woods would approve of and settled on a mocktail called Pretty in Pink (Strawberry, cream of coconut, lime, soda, mint - $9.00) and the server suggested that the bar could add vanilla vodka to turn it into a proper cocktail. I agreed. Honestly, I was just relieved to get something pink onto the table! I enjoyed this icy-fresh cocktail a lot and it delivered most of what I had been hoping for. The sweetness of the strawberry and coconut was really fun! The lime and mint added a mojito flair. A very cute and well-composed beverage but I was sad that most of the girly drinks didn't seem to be available. When it comes to eats at Dolly's the food is what you would expect to see at a party, with the idea of sharing at the heart. I loved the idea of Dolly's Funhouse (which is an epic plate of nachos), and dishes like wings, tacos, and mac & cheese. However, the dish to order at Dolly's has gotta be the Girl Dinner (Truffle tots, chickie tendies, aji verde, aji rocoto, pineapple sweet & sour, Dolly's salad - $50.00 for two). It's a must-share so grab your girlies and prepare to chow down! They had me at tots. The Girl Dinner platter arrived looking extremely appetizing and somehow exactly what I wanted to be eating in a place that looked like this. The portion was exactly right for two people and I loved the pretty floral printed plates that we were given to dish our tots and tendies onto. As previously mentioned, I enjoy a tot. (I have a suspicion that Napoleon Dynamite really imprinted on me.) But truffle tots? Now that's just a home run! Topped with sea salt, truffle oil, and parmesan cheese, these golden potato nuggets were fried to perfection with a crispy outside and a soft and fluffy inside. I could have eaten them all. They were awesome to dunk into each of the sauces and when the rest of the food was gone we were still popping tots into our mouths. We couldn't even finish them all because the portion was so generous! The star of the meal were the chickie tendies; two giant chicken tenders, of which we each got our own. I loved this chicken! The batter was really flavourful and unique, and oh so crispy-crunchy. The chicken within was very tender and juicy, proving that an elevated chicke

I did not purchase bottle service as there was only two of us, but I did keep an eye out for specifics, as I have been to numerous famous nightclub destinations around the world and am used to the way VIPs are handled. I must say, I was very impressed with the bottle service presentations, treatment and attention to detail at this club. Bottle service guests were showered with confetti, greeted with huge "Happy Birthday" signs waved at their table, as well a posse of beautiful girls holding sparklers and signs with the clients name. I even saw a bottle of champagne being brought out in a LED birthday cake. For a bachelorette party the cocktail waitresses brought out a sign that read "Future Mrs." and spelt the bride's last name, super cool! The MC paid great attention to each and every birthday/stagette in the club, and the club was packed. Reminded me of Vegas, nice touch. Music was an open-format mix of Hip-hop, Top 40, and Electro House. Once the headlining DJ started playing we were EXTREMELY impressed and the energy in the club was crazy. We didn't want to leave. He knew exactly what the crowd wanted and kept us all dancing all night long. Amazing DJ, great VIP treatment and very good over all customer service as well.
