We were quickly seated and immediately our waiter asked how we were doing and what we were interested in. For appetizers we got the calamari and Wisconsin cheese curds and both were delicious. Have been too hooked many times before the new ownership took over and it was always a great experience. Since the new ownership, nothing has been good. Went with a group of friends yesterday and we had to send three of our six dishes back because they were not edible, way overcooked. I had the muscles and they were like rubber. We had a disappointing experience overall. When we arrived for dinner, we were told there was a 30-minute wait for indoor seating but no wait outside. That was confusing, especially since we could see at least six empty tables inside. We chose to sit outside, where the same server appeared to be handling both indoor and outdoor tables. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. The server apologized and said he had not been told we were seated. Drinks and appetizers arrived quickly once ordered. The Pow Pow Shrimp was excellent and easily one of the highlights of the meal. About 15 minutes later, our dinner order was taken. The entrées came out promptly. I ordered a bowl of chowder that never arrived with the meal and only showed up after we had finished eating and were waiting to pay. I had the lobster rolls, which were very good. The fries were outstanding and probably the best part of the entire meal. My son enjoyed his smashed burger and also loved the fries. Unfortunately, my wife's Ahi Tuna had a strong fuel-like taste. She would not eat it, and after trying it myself, I understood why. No one checked back with us during the meal, so we had no opportunity to address the issue before the check arrived. Service was a 2 out of 5. Food was a 3 out of 5 in some areas and very poor in others. Would I recommend it? No. Will I return? No. This restaurant would benefit from having a floor manager actively checking on tables. I have always enjoyed this restaurant location, back to when it was a brewery (Big Storm? RIP the fried cauliflower from there!). Hopefully Hooked can make the location work as its been a couple things already. We came specifically for the AYCE crab legs. They weren't the biggest or best, but AYCE is hard to find these days so they seemed reasonable. The first serving wasn't great (too soggy) but the following refills were hot and good. Service was fine and refills didn't take too long. We sat out on the patio and it was a bit chilly and the music was too loud (always a complaint with me, however). After I ordered it, the server told me the price on the menu is not correct and if would be either $15 for a 1/2 or $30 for a lb. I had read about this place in it's original location on Matlatcha. When looking for a bar to watch a football game we came upon Hooked, which was the old Big Storm Brewing building. The space was nice and big, I had never been in before and they had football playing on all screens! We love seafood and so we were excited when we saw the menu. The small tower looked to be a great deal and so we ordered it. It was delicious and a great value for all that food. The staff was so great, I think we heard that the business owner was working the bar too and assisting the staff, which is great to hear. We came back the following week and the consistency of the small tower was not the same, there was way less. Maybe when we first came they were feeling generous but the space is great and I think it's becoming one of our go-tos. read more

Hooked Island Grill was destroyed by Ian in Matlacha & they opened here just recently. We sat outside which was very nice. They were very crowded at 530pm & service was great. Drink selection & beer selection is great, a plus for having My Boy Blue beer! Lacking one star for my dish, the rice was very dry & the ahi was not the best I've had, the grouper bites were delicious. Husband had the grouper Rueben he said it was very good. Their fries are a little weird, the size of a steak fry but extremely thin, they were just ok. We both had a cup of clam chowder which was very good. We will be back for sure to try other things.
