Our refrigerator started acting up (not cooling enough), so after trying a few ineffective remedies on my own, I reached out to Hooked On Appliances. Man, am I glad I did! Jason came out the next day and got right to work disassembling the fridge. He determined the problem (blown thermostat,) told me the plan and quoted a price. He told me that he could order the part (from Frigidaire) and it would arrive two days later, and he could finish up. My wife asked if she could get the part on Amazon, and he said sure, why not? So we got it overnight, and saved about $75! (the part cost $15 on Amazon.) Jason put the whole fridge back together and said it would work, but it wasn't fixed completely because it till needs the thermostat. But meanwhile we had the use of our fridge back. He came back the next day and finished up. Perfect work! I am thrilled with the job he did; I really like that he was so straight up about the cost. He quoted me a price and stuck to it.. He gave me an option to save some money (ordering my own part.) There was no upselling, not hidden costs, no games at all! Just good solid craftmanship. After cleaning my oven I noticed the streaks on the inside glass of the oven door and decided to take it apart carefully and clean the glass which I did successfully. However, I kept having problems putting the glass and door back together and being then I'm a tad older than I used to be and have a very bad back so that turned out to be a bad idea. My dishwasher has not worked for some time. Have company coming so wanted to het it fixed. Called Jason on January 2nd and he came out first thing on the 3rd. He replaced one of the computer boards and all seemed well. By Monday the 6th it was doing the same thing again. Jason came right out and ended up having to replace the other computer board. This Company was sent to me by Home Choice Warranty. The company was told the reason for the week was that a rodent ate through the hose. I immediately hired truly Nolen to come and do a complete home inspection only to find no rodents. I called the company several times however they refused to call me. I have since hired a reputable Licensed company. They have found normal wear on a hose and have replaced it for $246. Honesty pays off Word of mouth is the best advertisement. Called Jason and set up an appointment to fix my washer. He was extremely courteous and tried to understand the problem with my washer prior to making the trip to my house. He set up an appointment window that worked for both of us and made it a point to be flexible and on time (extremely important). He actually got lost, but this isn't the first time it has happened to someone trying to make it to my house despite the advances in GPS technology :) Most importantly, he diagnosed the problem within about 5 minutes of being at my house, along with that he gave me the options that would fit best for me and my budget. I could have got it fixed for the price of a new washer OR take his advice and do some research on how to find an inexpensive one on Craigslist. I listed to him and did some research the next day and ended up getting a KILLER deal on a used washer AND dryer for about a third of the price I was going to pay him. I called Jason requesting his help in determining cause for problem with my Maytag washer. His response time was excellent (about an hour) his analysis and explanation was easily understood. Based on his explanation, I decided to rep lace washer - apparently if a 6 year old HE type washer sits unused for an extensive time (10 months), corrosion in tub area caused OL code = failure. I never thought a company standing me up would be a great thing, but tonight it was. I made the mistake of calling another appliance repair company, getting the 2-6PM window and got a call at 6:45PM that my appointment could no longer be honored. I called these guys and Jason answered his phone right away. We talked through my problem and he flat out told me with the error message I was getting and what was happening, it was a specific part that needed to be replaced and I could do it myself. He tried to locate the part to no avail, but pointed me in the right direction in how to get it. Jason never saw a cent from me today, but rest assured the next time I have an issue, Jason will be the first person I call. Jason has come to my house twice to repair my washing machine. The first time he answered my call at 7:00 in the morning and was there by 10:00. He had my washer fixed and out the door in under an hour. The second time it broke I called him again, thinking it was the same issue. He looked up the error message and told me exactly how much labor and parts would be. It was more than I could afford so I thanked him and hung up. He actually called me back and told me that he wanted to come out and fix the washer and we could work something out. At 7:00 that night he came out and only charged me for the part. Called Jason to come out to fix my leaking washing machine. He told me that I needed a gasket and bearing kit to stop the leak. He then looked the part up on line and showed me that it was discontinued because my washer is rather old. I told him I would try to find it through some of my connections. I found the part in under five minutes one line. Called the online store to confirm that it is the right part for my washing machine, and he confirmed that it is. So I called Jason back to tell him I have the part and would like him to come out to fix it. Got no answer for about six calls over a couple of weeks. Finally blocked my phone number from caller ID and he answered. Told him I had the part and wanted him to come out and finish his repair. He said he would call me back at the end of the day to schedule a time. Never heard back from him. That was over a week and a half ago. I will NEVER use this gut again, and I hope no one else does. read more
