Chicken and Ribs with rice and coleslaw

Recommended by the school staff at the course I'm taking right now. I came by and was not disappointed. The ribs were falling off the bone. A lot of ice for my sweet tea. I'm glad I did 3/4 sweet tea 1/4 unsweetened tea and it was still sweet but good good food good service.

Despite the glowing review from the Google barbecue critic, I stopped at Hook's after calling to verify there was absolutely no sauce in the building. I received a warm welcome. Placed my order and the sweet girl at the counter smiled and pointed out where the warm sauces were located next to the drinks. She recognized my unique voice. "Whiz Bang" plate includes 4 ribs, ¼ chicken, ¼lb pork, 2 sides, pickles(2 slices), light bread & pound cake. I will not need supper because I ate it all but the pound cake. Previously noted young lady came to the table and wrapped it in plastic wrap to keep it fresh and tasty. All three meats were tasty. All could have stood alone but the sauces were a nice compliment. I preferred the mild & hot mixed. The beans tasted like the ones my Mother used to make. Fries are fries but were fresh & hot. Fresh light bread perfect for sopping. I will comment on the cake later. Come get some saucy service and tasty 'que at Hook's.

Ribs and pork with beans and slaw

I was looking for a new BBQ place to try in the Wiregrass. My buddy suggested to drive to Enterprise for Hook's. The building looks really new and is really clean. You order at the counter. I went with the 2 meat combo of pork and ribs with slaw and beans. You are given the choice if you want sauce on your meat. Since they had 3 sauces, I just said I will take it on the side. I tore into the ribs first. The ribs were solid and had a good grill taste to them. They were not fall off the bone but did not give me any trouble chewing them. The pork was soft and had a good smoky flavor to it. There are 3 sauces - mild, sweet, and hot. All seem to be vinegar base but I found the hot to have the most flavor. Overall, I thought the sauces could have been better. By the way, the hot was more like spicy than hot. I chose slaw and beans for my sides. The slaw was chipped. It was in a creamy mayo-vinegar base with a hint of sweetness. The beans seemed to be homemade with pieces of meat mixed in. If they were from a can, they certainly were doctored well. Sweet tea was perfectly sweet! Prices were reasonable and had good value. Hook's is a solid BBQ place. There is nothing to complain about but I will have to say there was nothing that was specifically memorable.

I have been wanting to try Hooks for a while, but each time I was in Enterprise, they were closed (Monday)- which I saw they are now going to be open on Monday starting soon. I got take out to go home to try. I ordered a lb of chopped pork and a full rack of ribs, the cashier asked if I would like the ribs cut apart- I said absolutely. I got the mild and the sweet sauces to try, both were tasty. The ribs were meaty and juicy, the pork was extremely tasty and chopped perfectly. My only criticism would be that it took a while to get my order even though I was the only person ordering at the time (except drive- thru). Overall very pleased. I thought the inside was decorated very cute as well.

This ranch style BBQ pit is good place to go for lunch on the go, or a quick bite when you need one, but I was not satisfied with my order. Yes, the potato I ordered was tender with the exception of a corner of one end. The shredded pork and the cheese seemed sufficient, yet the color was off. I did not get the impression of fresh ingredients. The service was quick. Perhaps if they verified the order before sending it out, they would have not left off the BBQ sauce. Since I was eating in, I got up to find some. What I encountered was a pump urn which must be pumped by hand. In this COVID age, I could not understand why they had three of them, one for each flavor of sauce. I very cautiously got my share of hot BBQ sauce and sat to eat. I was truly disappointed. Hardly to no heat. I have been to BBQ joints and this one needs some help. I do not discourage anyone who eats BBQ from eating here. Just, being from the south, we expect much more in flavor in service.

Probably the toughest ribs I have ever eaten. These guys were at least 2 hours away from being tender. Absolute rubber.

Maybe I'm biased because I worked in BBQ professionally for 4 years, but these ribs are leather. They need at least another 2 hours before I would even consider serving them to people. Were they boiled? Check my picture, have you ever seen a rack bend like that?

Solid BBQ if you are passing by. I would love a green bean side to be added t the menu. Been here twice, would visit again if in area.

Awesome bar-b-cue. Love the ribs. The rice is out of this world!! I could eat only that for my meal.

My housemate and I caught a late evening meal there tonight. I have been to several Mongolian…read moregrills across the states. This one is beautiful inside and decorated with a variety of lovely ceramic tiles. The foyer, I simply loved. Very eye catching. The restrooms did not get upgraded in the remodel but, are now clean and sanitary. The odor that previously resided in the restrooms, is all gone! It was quiet and pleasant in the dining area. No dishes banging around or staff and guests talking loudly. Totally, non-rushing and most relaxing environment. There are several ways to get your meal and the time of day you eat matters. It matters in pricing and ingredients. There are take-out and dine-in options. You can order from 7 or 8 predesigned bowls which are cooked and packaged for you. The staff delivers the boxes to you. You can also personally select the ingredients of your bowl . The staff will assist you in selecting the sauces if desired. It's okay to sample a sauce before selecting which goes on your bowl. Just be cautions of the peppery heat some sauces contain. Some can be rather hot, especially if you don't care for that after burn. Once the sauce is selected, your ingredients are cooked together in the sauce of choice by the grill master and then brought tableside. You and your bowl have met up again via the number sign method. A large number plague is placed on your table. Your bowl gets the same number and magically, you get your own personal bowl back after it's properly cooking. The ingredients are all raw and displayed on a cold buffet maintained below 40 degrees F to prevent growth of bacteria. Tonight's buffet presented lamb, beef, white chicken, mixed chicken, shrimp, various crab-like meats, bay scallops, calamari, and squid. Accompaniments were standard veggies consisting of onions, scallions, mushrooms, carrots, red and green sweet bell peppers, zucchinis, celery, water chestnuts, ginger, and several others. A staff member assisted me with the selection of my sauce as I was clueless about the proper use of the sauces. I am not certain to what extent the whole proteins, aromatics, and sauces have to compliment each other to derive a tasty bowl. thus, I requested a lesson in sauce selection. Surprisingly, despite having ingredients I don't particularly care for in the sauce, the bowl, when finished, was rather yummy. I did eat a small slice of cheese cake similar to a New York Style but with a graham cracker crust. The slice was small as the price. It was just the prefect amount to finish my dinner pleasantly. The restaurant is child accommodating but there is ceramic tile everywhere. Caution needs to be employed so your little ones have no problems. At the food bar, the children should have an adult serve the ingredients to their bowl. This addresses less contamination of the raw ingredients. Dirty hands, sneezing, coughing, and those awful runny noses have no place at the food bar. Let the servers help with the children. The prices are reasonable. Two of us for dinner during the weekdays paid $35.00, including tip. I enjoyed my meal, the environment, and meeting the staff. The staff is polite and helpful. The staff has good command of English. Definitely, more than I in their languages. Go, eat, have a great time. Take friends. Chef Garfie

I'm not willing to do business with an establishment that isn't clear and extremely patronizing when asking simple questions. I will continue to visit other great options in the area!
