I went there today. November 4, 2025 to donate to the shelter as I adopted my dog BELLA Bumblebee…read more(as they used to call her there.) I met with Jennifer. There was another female employee there and a male employee who just smiled at me which was comforting. Jennifer was very patient, kind and understanding as I unloaded a big black garbage bag with Liz Claiborne huge bath sheets (unopened) so the dogs would have something to lay on, lots of sealed up food from Dr. Marty. Dr. Marty's Essential Blend and Tilly's Treasures as a food topper. I brought rope toys, stuffed animals and one of Bella's favorite unopened toy; a stuffed gator. I used to sing the song to her, "gator face, you've got the cutest little gator face, no one is ever going to take your place, gator face, You are my whole wide world, you are my cutest girl. Gator face, you are cutest girl around, you are my pretty girl you are my whole wide world you my pretty gator face! Yes, Jennifer I sung the song to you at the shelter and now and am put it in print! -LOL (Yes, I do have my marbles.) God Bless all of you. Many, many thanks for the nice welcoming. Sincerely, Lisa C. :-D

Important notice if you are going to adopt a dog from here just be careful and ready for a heart…read morebreak because my wife and I went here on Tuesday to look at dogs and as we were leaving we saw this beautiful puppy and one of the workers were fostering it and we as if we could look at it and they yes and told us it was going up for adoption on Thursday, so we were excited, but they said there was another family also looking to adopt this dog and said that we would have to get here early to try to claim it and if multiple people want the dogs, they would do a raffle for it to see who would get it but what they didn't tell us is that they were the ones who won the dog so when we showed up here on Thursday, they were able to get in front of the line cause they just had to come out of the works spot and immediately as the door open, they shot Forward and instantly started to fill out the paperwork for the dog, which is not cool at all for getting a family's, hope up to get this puppy they could have said on Tuesday I want to adopt the dog instead of making us believe we could've gotten it so we left there heart broken so if you are adopted from here just be careful.

I adopted a 7 year old (80 lbs) Labrador Retriever rescue last year in December of 2017. He's a…read morekind & loving male who was never taught commands but you could motivate him with treats, sometimes. I wanted a companion dog that I could take almost everywhere with me in private & public spaces. I soon became alarmed that my dog was not safe off-leash and around others whereas he sought attention from strangers and was "too much" around other dogs and they became aggressive due to his approach. On-leash was not good either; he would pull me like a cart and seemed unaware of me and my desire for us both to be "one team". My dog groomer saw my dog's potential and recommended Mr. Adrian Uribe at Ultimate K-9 Training and stated there was no other better trainer in the Coachella Valley. I had reached a personal fork in the road; return the dog or make the investment in Obedience Training. I chose the later and hired Adrian @ Ultimate K-9 Training, selecting the two week course (where he took my dog to his property without me there) and upon completion; my dog and I had a week of training together with Adrian, teaching the dog and I together at my home and a local dog park. Below please find "our achievements" A. I did not know all of the proper commands (although I thought I did, originally) and learned them via the final week of training with Adrian. He was very professional with me and I found myself challenged and eager to learn. B. My dog is now calmer but still loving. He obeys on command both; off-lease & on. My fear of him running into traffic or another home is now no longer a worry. My dog obeyed Adrian (he like him too) and also obeyed me; right from the completion of our training. C. My dog would get on my front room sofa & my bed while I was out; he no longer does that anymore. Thumbs up! D. Because of the proper Obedience Training; my dog enjoys completing commands and with me. He's now patient, waits and again he's more calm & enjoyable. E. Mr. Adrian Uribe is a professional, he shared video sequence training with me (via text & emails) while my dog was with him so that I could see my dog was safe, learning and his spirit was not broken. I could not be happier and this training gave me what I wanted; a well mannered (handsome) dog who I could enjoy, share, socialize with 100% happiness & confidence. "JOB WELL DONE; THANK YOU ADRIAN"

I had a beyond expectation experience with Mindy and her daughter, even though at the end I didn't…read morechoose to go with the adorable and sweet boys Teddy and Khabib they brought for me to meet and interact with. Mindy provided a very personable, warm and extremely responsive service, made every effort to respond to my inquiry on Adopt-A-Pet and approving my application as well as just answering my questions and chatting with me about my potential cat baby's personality traits and his background story. She responded to emails as late as 11PM on a weekend and her demeanor was always welcoming and reassuring, like an old, caring friend. Mindy's words and actions convey that she truly truly love all of her rescued cat babies and she only wants what's best for them and she works extremely hard to find them good homes. I was very sad that neither cat babies from her rescue matched the particular personality I was looking for (I was trying to fill this big hole in my heart with the tragic loss of a stray cat named Cookie I cared for) and I really wished that given all the hard work she and her daughter put into, I'd adopt either Teddy or Khabib. Despite these big, affectionate sweet boys were not the best match I was searching for, I don't think any less of them, I sincerely hope they will find their forever home they deserve and I cannot be more grateful for Mindy's time, patience and understanding she's extended me and my family. If I had more capacity for an additional cat baby in the future after finding THE ONE, Mindy and her rescue is the first place I'd check out. If you are also searching for your feline soulmate, please look no further!!

Never heard back from them and we were ready to adopt immediately. Both myself and my daughter…read morecalled, (the "are too busy to care for kitties AND answer the phone, so please send a text"), so we texted, created an account online (because they want to know you're "actually serious" about adopting before you can even MEET the cat you're considering adopting.) (I do understand and respect prioritizing the mental health of the cats, but I'm sure the cats, especially the adults, would prefer a compromise, like being required to fill out a one page form on the spot before meeting). Every serious adopter that goes into a pet store and sees one of this organization's animals that they are interested in adopting and is told they have to go through this and this and this step before they can even interact with the cat and know if the personality is a fit. Everyone loses out. In my experience, even if you do go through all the steps, they won't call you back, and a cat that could have had a home I know had that opportunity taken from them because of the seemingly righteous or superior attitude of the rescue people. They surely know how many people go in and out of those cat and kitten rooms at the Animal Friends of the Valley shelter. Having a few people go in one at a time to meet one particular cat, I don't feel, is any more dangerous or unhealthy for the cat than them losing the opportunity to be adopted and eventually being put down. I just don't understand rescues like this. If you're too small to actually help, then let somebody else do it.
