I've been coming to Save The Meow Meows for a while now, and honestly I think every time I go is a better experience than the last! You can really tell how much attention, care, and work they put into giving their cats a good home. Every cat has to start somewhere, and STMM gives them a great environment to learn to socialize and adapt to not being in the dangerous situations that they were rescued from! I've watched many of their cats go from extremely anti-social to snuggly in their time with this organization. I have adopted two cats from them, and helped a roommate adopt one as well. They are extremely helpful and as long as you communicate, they give you a lot of grace throughout the adoption process! If you're not looking to adopt a cat, you're also just free to hang out and play with the kitties! I end up going just for a third space to do homework and stuff! They have snacks and drinks for sale that you can enjoy during your stay as well. They also have a ton of great goodies in the shop portion of the space, and you can even buy collars or accessories for the lounge cats to wear! Overall, I've never had a bad experience here. This place has been my escape when going through difficult times, and the staff are genuine people that will connect with you. I cannot recommend coming to this place enough! read more

I am heartbroken and deeply disappointed by my experience here. They don't care about what's best for the cats. I would've been happy to keep fostering if I knew that they were going to lie and betray me. I fostered Charlie and Lois, a brother-and-sister bonded pair, for two years. In all my years of fostering, I have never seen two cats more attached to each other. They slept together, comforted each other, groomed and were rarely apart. If Lois had to go to the vet without Charlie, he would become visibly distressed. The photos speak for themselves. Before they left my care, to go here I was assured over and over they would not be separated and I was extremely paranoid about it at first-but I trusted it in the end. I mean, I literally must have asked at least six times that they were going to be kept together and I HAVE IN WRITING they would NOT separate them. ...I would have NEVER had them go here if I knew this would have happened. I was also discouraged from visiting the first week which I now I find super suspicious. Despite that strong assurance, they were separated, and when I asked for them to be returned to me, my request was refused. THEY DIDNT EVEN TRY to get them adopted together!! Separating a bonded brother and sister was an unnecessary decision that ignored the bond these cats shared. I cannot imagine the stress and confusion Charlie and Lois may be experiencing after spending their entire lives together. And then look at the text message they sent me after going absolutely ballistic finding out that they didn't adopt them out together - telling me that they were not exhibiting any of the behaviors that I posted in the pictures. Ridiculous blatant lies. I am sharing my experience so others can make informed decisions. Based on what happened, I no longer have confidence in this organization or the commitments that were made to me. I also intend to pursue my legal options regarding this matter. Charlie and Lois deserve better. SHAME ON YOU ALL! read more

The price to spend (AN UNLIMITED) time with the cats is $13, which is a GREAT deal compared to the other cat cafes I've been to in LA or San Diego! The cats are well cared for, and the workers are very attentive, making sure to keep an eye on both you and the kitties during your visit. You are allowed to pick up the cats and snuggle as long as you are being mindful of the cats' comfort and body language- another difference between this cat cafe and the others I've visited. This place is also a nonprofit so anything you purchase goes towards caring for the cats, and all of the little knickknacks they have for sale are pretty cute and reasonably priced too! My friend has been a supporter of Save the Meow Meows Cat Lounge, and for her birthday we made the trek out to Yucca Valley to drop off some donations and pay with some kitties. Save the Meow Meows Cat Lounge is a nonprofit organization that strives to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned, neglected, and/or abused animals. Their core mission is to save lives. With the amount of litter, pee pads, and treats that my friend brought for the kitties, we could have earned free admission but I wanted to pay for our admission since it was going to a good cause. Admission is $13/person. Upon entering there was definitely an animal scent. My friend has cats so she didn't smell anything, and the staff here didn't smell anything either. They asked us about it. It wasn't awful but it was there. If you stay long enough, you might acclimate and forget about it. The play space was quaint and cute. There were plenty of toys for the kitties to play with. They had 12 cat bios on their tablet, but some could have been with foster families or at Petco seeking adoption. They also had some kitties who are in their private villas due to health reason or adapting to the space. My friend and I had a great time playing with the kitties. The admission covers giving 1 treat to the kitties. They will crowd you for treats. My favorite kitten was SOY, super cute and playful. I did think it was weird that the staff and volunteers sat and did their work in the lounge area. The space was small as it is, and it takes up space from the patron... especially if you're trying to get in some cute photos. The staff and most of the volunteers seemed nice, but there was this one kid that looked like he definitely did not want to be there. He didn't even seen helpful the whole time he was there. As someone who is a leader in multiple nonprofit organizations, I feel like they could be more selective on volunteers to consider. Before leaving I also bought my friend a Cats with Careers Puzzle ($13) and a few cute Pusheen stickers ($1/each). Something cute for my friend and I just looked at the money like donation to a good cause. Super cute. My friend enjoyed her time here and I like that the business is dedicated to saving lives. I hope they can add air filters to make the air more fresh, and refine their staffing situation. read more

I came here to transport a kitten from a local small rescue to Save the Meow Meows and I have to tell ya, I was impressed!!! What this rescue is doing for these furbabies is not only AMAZING, but it's also making adopting very convenient for those in search of a new cat. Coming here allows you to meet & greet several kitties, interact with them and get your dose of serotonin! The local is very clean and organized despite having so many kitties running around. There's also multiple litter boxes but not a single sniff of poo (lol!). The store front is packed with little trinkets and locally made items that you can purchase as well as treats that you can feed the kitties once inside. went here on a trip to joshua tree because we drove by it on our way to our airbnb. it was so fun and such a great way to start our trip. admission was $15 i believe, which i think is a great price for no time limit, especially knowing their profits are going towards helping the cats! all of the cats are clearly so well loved and were super fun to pet and play with. they also give you cat treats and a cat toy to play with them! i enjoyed their gift shop on the way out and got some handmade items! i would definitely stop by here on your trip to joshua tree! read more

Stumbled across this fun activity while in Joshua Tree. We live and love cats, so of course this was a must see. $13 a person for each person, and of course all proceeds go towards the kitties, so it's worth it! Get to feed and play with the adoptable cats, and have an hour or so to relax from the heat. The inside was very well kept. They care very much about the cats that they are trying to adopt out. The price was $200 for young cats and $150 for adults. Which included being fixed, microchip etc... I would have done 5 stars but, the price to see cats is $13 for adults and $7 children. Every time you go to visit. I believe it was under 5 free. Which is a big price for just coming to hang out with cats. Being in a place of the high desert, it is a lot. Most of us folks have to save up that much money just to eat. They should offer discount days. I get it's to help raise money for the cat's expenses. Just an idea in admission. I only went to see it cause, my child sees it everyday we drive bye, and had to go inside. Otherwise employees were helpful and have knowledge on the cats. I would recommend checking it out if in town. It is great to be more hands on with the cats. Instead of going to a place were you can not spend time with a cat. The idea behind the organization of every cat deserves to be loved was what drove my wife to come check it out. First impression when you enter the building was an overwhelming smell of cat urine. Just to get in was $15 per person, which we had no problem with. The living conditions in the front are presentable, but once you get to the back is where you question if they clean for the cats. There was maybe 4 litter boxes for 30+ cats. They separate the sick kittens and cats which is understandable. Come to find out the adult cats are locked in a CAT CARRIER with half of that carrier being a pee pad, the other half with food. They are in there for days at a time until they get better, according to the volunteer. One of them was almost knocked off from stuff being moved around. They also have a little closet like room in the back, the shy cats love to pile in there but you very quickly catch the smell of cat urine, feces, and dirty blankets on the ground. Some of the cats had gunk in their eyes and don't look well taken care of. The place looked and smelled like it was rarely cleaned I felt so bad I almost asked if I could start cleaning. While I don't know how often they clean the fee you pay should at least provide for clean conditions. My wife and I are very disappointed in this place. read more
