Please stay far away from this company! Chris is extremely unprofessional and I would not trust him around my family or home. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our appointment with Chris due to illness and other home repair schedules. Instead of kindly asking to reschedule with us, he sent very disrespectful text messages. I have proof of him calling us rude and ignorant and a wasted hour drive for him. In any other position, this would be grounds for firing. Since Chris is a lead, he clearly does not care about his behavior or his treatment of his customers. Also, please keep in mind we most certainly would not contact a company to request an hour drive. Rich was very professional at first interaction. He was the project manager for my landscape project. The crew removed my crumbling bricks from the front and sides of my home. He went above and beyond and had the crew cut my tall bushes due to my husband not being able to any longer as a courtesy. Hook's Landscaping is amazing. Chris and his team are very attentive, professional, responsive and great to work with. We had Hook's add on to our existing paver patio. Not only did they do an amazing job on the patio, they helped fix a couple spots that were in bad shape from the previous company who we used that shall remain nameless. All you need to know about the other company, is that we did not use them again. Unlike Hooks, who will be the first company we call for any future work. Hook's landscaping service shows up an hour before noise ordinance at 6am running mowers and trimmers. Call the number on the truck and ask nicely to wait two seperate occurances in a row and the guy on the phone blows up. Says its not his problem to know noise times and that callers just make problems for him. Says I the caller keep making shit for him, that I'll have problems, and hangs up. Of the 7 landscaping companies we called, Hook's was the only one that promptly responded to us and was willing to take on our smaller project. We worked primarily with Rich, who was super responsive and understood our needs. We felt like the bid for labor and plants was fair. I have used this company for the past several years. First to have my landscape replaced due to age. They also did some decorative stone edging which turned out beautifully. Since then they have been my maintenance service for lawn cutting and trimming of plants and bushes. The crew does a great job of mowing the lawn, cutting each time in a different direction and cleaning up completely when done. They also do a fantastic job of trimming the bushes and decorative plants. My lawn had never looked better. read more

Sent a request for an estimate on a Saturday afternoon not expecting a response for a few days. I received an email back within an hour acknowledging my request and a phone call an hour later. By Tuesday Steve was out to review what we needed done and had a quote to us by Thursday. We had also called other places for quotes and as of today only 2 places responded - one never showed up when they said they would and the other couldn't even look at the yard for over a week. Once we made a decision on what we needed done I contacted Steve and he scheduled us within days....I was expecting a month wait and it was totally done 4 days after accepting his quote. He did exactly what we asked and we couldn't be happier ....but the customer service and the fact Steve was always so quick to respond is even more impressive. I live in Bourbonnais and i reached out to Hook's Landscaping after not having been happy with turnaround of services by Bourbonnais-based Tholen's Landscaping. I called Chris, he responded quickly and came out to see the property within a few days. After gathering input on what I wanted, I received a computerized image of the front of my house with the proposed landscaping. This was very helpful in deciding if I'd like the look. I ended up hiring Hook's to also put in a paver patio and get a few good size trees in the back, besides re-doing the entire front of the house. The results were beautiful; I've received alot of compliments on all that was done. And I was very happy to see that Hook's designs very well. I started my quest to find a reputable landscaping company and boy did I ever find one in Hook's Landscaping. Cathy was one of only 5 people to call me back after about 20 request for estimate features on companies webpages. She came out explained to me in detail on what she would do with our backyard and had me a quote within a few days. This project consisted of filling in a Koi pond, removing gigantic rocks/boulders, putting up a base for a shed, grading the entire back yard and sodding it. Hook's did this all and then some in roughly 2 days. They even tried to help defuse a situation between our tree removal service and us. They went out of their way to leave a pathway for them to come in and finish removing some stumps/roots. Because of Cathy and her team we have a full and beautiful backyard again. I can't say enough good things about Hook's and their crew. They stayed in constant communication and were the definition of professional. I would never recommend these people they messed up on my tree cutting which the former employee was great she cut the tree at the right time to prevent apples to take I paid to have stone removed and sod planted some sod did not take and Chris said it was my fault and was rude. We wanted a paver patio with a gas fire pit and we were assured that they "did these all the time". However, the design they recommended, when reviewed by a professional plumber, was dangerous and could have exploded!! They tried charging us for materials that were not appropriate for the job. They actually recommended using plastic tubing inside the fire pit! Less than a year later, we have broken pavers, places where there is no sand between the pavers and moss and weeds growing in between. I notified the owner of the broken pavers and lack of sand three months ago. When I notified him of the moss and weeds he said, and I quote: "I'm not fixing your moss and weeds. Get a power washer and wash it off." He also stated he won't repair the broken pavers. If that's the kind of service you'd like for a patio costing thousands of dollars, give them a call. If not, I suggest you find a professional and courteous alternative! read more
