This place absolutely blows. Me and my "boys" showed up after a long night of drinking and slaying mad puss and the workers of the Hoops establishment had the audacity to take over an hour to deliver a simple pizza. I believe I could have grown my own wheat and created my own dough to build the pizza myself if I so pleased. I'm absolutely devastated at the service, this used to be the "move" to end off a night of hitting the town with the boys. I however am confident that I will no longer return to this sub par establishment that falsely advertises their "pizza and pub" services. I am incredibly disappointed in the time I wasted attending this establishment and I know for a fact that I will not be returning after this experience. read more

I was surprised at how good the pizza was. Soft crust w a little crunch. Small amount of sauce (i like that). Their website wasn't helpful at the time-It was not working while we were trying to look at the menu on our phones- and the staff had no idea. I love going to Hoops for pizza and drinks. I think almost every time I stay in Peoria, I go to Hoops after going to other bars when I get drunk and hungry or just when I'm hungry because it is downtown and close to 4 Points by Sheraton and think their pizza is pretty good for that area. You're not going to get much better at Pizza Hut or Little Caesar's and they aren't open as late. I read some reviews about seedy people in there but there are people like that in all bars at one point or another. I've never seen anything go down in there. Sure I've seen police outside on the street but that is good to have police around keeping an eye on things. Especially in downtown Peoria. Just try their pizza and appetizers. Good pizza, but slices too expensive. Better off buying a small pizza. Also wish they'd change draft beer selection. Need a premium Pilsner style lager like Stella. Only think they have is Miller Light and Bud Light. Ditch the Sam Adams winter lager and add a premium Pilsner Lager. read more

It is what it is. And it does it extremely well. Whilst (yea, I typed that) driving through Peoria (long story) on a Sunday, we needed to stop for lunch. Hoops was the only pub-type place (my husband wanted a beer during this amazingly relaxed trip) open near the city's biz district. With trepidation, I entered. I don't eat meat, and pubs serve lots. With few alternatives. And girly drinks taste terrible. We were SO pleasantly surprised. Sure, Regulars were sidled up. The bartender talked in the squeaky/girly voice of a woman relying on tips from bar stars. But my husband's beer was ice cold, and my cosmo was mixed to perfection. And the vegetarian pizza? Awesome. This from a Chicagoan who is consistently disappointed by pizzeria hype. Gooey cheese, mellow red sauce a a perfect blend of onions, peppers, olives and mushrooms (gotta get those veggies in our diets where we can). It's worth a stop if you want a bit of classic pub life. read more

Wherever I am I town I always make it a point to stop by Hoops for their amazing Stromboli. It's definitely not what you think of when it comes to cuisine known for in central Illinois. Homemade dough filled with cheese, pepperoni, ham, onion and green paper...all I can say is I wish we had this up north! read more

Great dive bar, good menu. I had pizza when I was in town for business. OK bar pizza, other items might be better. 5 stars from me because of the bartender. Very funny, on top of the service, plus I left and forgot my credit card on the bar and she chased me down the block and around the corner to get it back to me. I happened to be in there after a wedding and witnessed some very disgusting behavior from staff. The supposed "security guard" was patting the waitresses on the bottom. When confronted about his behavior I was told that they were "friends" and behavior was ignored. As a women who has previously been in the serving industry, this behavior and excuse was appalling. It is never appropriate to sexuality assault staff. I couldn't believe that in this day in age this behavior was found to be appropriate by this establishment, especially by the man who is supposedly hired on to keep this bar safe. I have informed the Marriott Marquette (the fine place I am staying) to remove this bar off of their recommended places to eat or drink. After hearing the story of our incident, they were largely in support. I hope this establishment rethinks their values of importance. read more

Dependable and fresh. We probably have eaten here more in the last 25 years than any other place. The pizza is by the slice, the salads are simple: lettuce, fresh onion, tomato and mozzarella cheese but dressings are homemade and wonderful. Ask for your pizza to be made "crispy" if you don't like gooey cheese. Calzones and Stromboli are excellent as well and the Philly steak is best in town. read more

Great experience for a team dinner. Our baseball team was in town for a tournament, and our hotel was across the street from Hoop's. We rented the room upstairs for a pizza party and it was perfect. Janine the owner had the pizza ready when we arrived so the boys would not be up so late. Pizza was good and it was all so easy.
