If you like their "trainers" taking over most of the gym, weights and machines for a circuit training for hours on end this is the place for you. If you love warm water out of the water fountain due to it somehow being "better for your body" which is just the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life this is the spot for you. If cutting your ankles on exposed bits of footholds (where the foam that is supposed to prevent that from happening has been stripped off) this is the spot for you. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and just overall amazing group of individuals that will bend over backwards for you, but there is only so much they can do without the owner actually putting in the effort. To be honest the staff deserves every bit of praise and is the only thing holding this "gym" together.

The main difference between the Globo-Gyms of the area and Flex are its owners: Doug and Jess Porterfield. They are there every day, they know their members by name, and they are the ones who run the personal training sessions and cardio classes. The service aspect of the gym is not watered down; if you have a request or concern they are always accessible and you know that your voice is being heard. It is very clear that you are not just a number to them. For example... Early on in my membership I put in a request to Doug for more weight machine equipment specific to back workouts. Within about 6 weeks, Doug had acquired and installed more equipment I have since used to enhance my back program. I probably wasn't the only one who had made this request, but it still was indicative of his willingness to listen and respond based on member feedback. Flex cannot beat Olympus on membership price, the MAC on square footage and equipment, or Anytime on hours of operation, but it manages to stay competitive on all of these fronts. Where Flex wins out is in the sense of community it has and in the visibility and values of the people running the show. Pros: reasonable rates, particularly with the 3-year term; hours of operation (5AM-9PM M-F, 8AM-5PM Sat), daycare/tanning/cardio classes included in standard membership, community vibe. Cons: limited room for expansion, lacking some weight/cardio equipment common in larger gyms, inability to change contract terms (e.g. cannot move from 2-year to 3-year contract), single location, closed on Sundays.

They never did offer them--only a "boot camp" class three times a week. When we requested them to release us from our contract for lying, they did not. When we filed with the BBB, they lied to them and said that they did in fact offer classes (which they did not). And of course, since then they have been nothing but rude to me when I do go in. I can't stand going there now. Additionally, their equipment stinks. For the longest time they did not have a usable elliptical (they did get 2 decent ones in finally). I would definitely NOT recommend this gym. Your money is much better spent elsewhere--maybe the Y or the Town Center. I CAN'T WAIT for my contract to be up so I can be free to go to a gym with friendly employees, decent equipment and folks that deliver what they say they will.

It's rarely too crowded, and the equipment has been updated. When it's not busy, most employees take the time to thoroughly clean, dust, and vacuum even the hard-to-reach spots. The bathrooms could use some attention during busy hours, especially after shift changes, but overall, it's a great place to work out--especially when the weather is too hot or cold outside.

I walked into the gym one day...mind you I am 8 months pregnant and still working out 5 days a week and prior to being pregnant, on that same schedule...I was greeted by the male owner ....Jeffrey...with "hey fatty." You don't ever call a woman fat, or a person in general...but much less a pregnant woman...ESPECIALLY when your profession is in the fitness arena...and when you are walking into a gym to better yourself. I thought on it, and the more I thought about it, the more upset I got. Being that he is older, and should know better, I thought it was worth posting on Facebook...not mentioning their company nor their names... a general "PSA" stating that "Men...just little word for the wise...Don't greet a pregnant woman with "hey fatty" its not cute, you aren't funny and you look and sound like an a**hole" I went to the gym like normal the following day thinking it would be discussed, however it wasn't. I had my baby shower there....(prescheduled) that Sunday and then the following Monday I received a letter from the male partial owner....Jeffrey...and it was now stated that I had caused "disruptions" and that I was no longer going to be accepted as a client. I felt like this was for intimidation. He was the one that called me "fatty" and should have been saying sorry, instead Angie let him further bully me by letting a man...vs a woman...give me this letter ...all a intimidation technique which, in my opinion is even more disgusting. Even the owners mom directed me to him versus simply explaining herself or directing me to Angie to discuss my membership. I have never been notified of these "disruptions" and have spoken to other instructors and they were clueless as to what they were talking about. On top of the fact that if I was so "disruptive" why would you let my friend plan my baby shower there...and take her money for doing so?! Makes no sense ....just bad business and a reflection of the people that own this facility. So basically, instead of saying sorry, I was not only body shamed, I was then further shamed as a "disruption" ...basically ...trying to make him calling me "fatty" my fault and then kicking me out of the gym for sticking up for myself..vs saying sorry, that never should have been said...and was very unprofessional. All of this is a form of bullying. I took it as "you called me out for something I shouldn't have said, so I'm not only going to make up things about you, I'm going to kick you out of my club....and not even think twice about just apologizing for the unprofessional slanderous comment. I'm writing this review in hopes that women will join in making a stand to stop this behavior. We are all judged too closely on our body image as it it...much less having to worry about it walking into a gym... and being called "fatty" ...especially from someone who's profession is fitness. You go to the gym to better yourself not only physically but also mentally, and that can't be accomplished when you are being body shamed...with no remorse.
