Hop N Grape has the best chowder on this planet, it is so delish! However I wouldn't recommend some of their "pulled" meats. Though full of flavor, they can be dry too. The owner wanders around and helps out at the place, it's nice to see the owner involved and keep things running smoothly. If you like beer, they have plenty of beer on tap with a rotating list. Meal and beer were great dessert not so much. I can't quite say this place is a reason to come to Longview, but if you're in the area, it's a much better choice that the chain restaurant drudgery. The service was good although the food took a while to come out. We ordered the BBQ chicken wings with mole sauce, the Reuben sandwich, and the BBQ brisket sandwich. All were very tasty. Beer was a Dragon Tooth Stout, rich a flavorful. I should have known better than to order dessert in a place that is unlikely to make their own. The molten chocolate cake was barely warm and seemed to have come from the freezer to the microwave with not quite enough time in the latter, hardly worth the $4 I paid for it. The BBQ flavor in the meat dishes made for a good meal though, and with a good selection of beer and wine, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. Not what I was hoping for. Had heard about this place for a while and decided to go with my wife and try it out. Got their "incredible mac and cheese" that people rave about and it wasn't that great. It was runny and didn't have much flavor. The brisket sandwich on the other hand was excellent. We did have some other food that was also great. The waitress could learn to be a little friendlier but other than that it was good. I do wish that you could bring kids into the dining area. We've been driving through Longview for years and haven't found anywhere good to eat until now! Food was excellent. We had the brisket platter and smoked salmon chowder. Prices were very reasonable. $34+tip for the meal with 2 glasses of wine. Jennifer was our server and was very accommodating with a couple requests to modify our order. From the outside it doesn't even look like a restaurant, but the inside is a very comfortable and casual environment with 6 TVs to keep an eye on the games. It was ok as barbecue goes. I love barbecue and am from the Midwest Kansas City one of the barbecue capitals of the world lol.. So I am sort of partial to St. Louis style ribs and a sweeter sauce. Yet their sauce was tasty it just wasn't smooth it was kind if chunky. But the meat was very tender the potato salad was good but it wasn't cold it was warm. I didn't care for the macaroni and chews it was a white cheese and the noodles were cavatappi noodle and were mushy and not al dente (firm to the bite). I didn't care for their beans either. A dimly lit and yet not at all seedy bar that offers decent food, poor service, and fantastic beer. The various smokehouse offerings are a hint over salted/cooked but really aren't bad. Your server will inevitably be a sweet-looking old bitty that will quickly demonstrate she, too, is there to hangout and watch TV (rather than to serve food). But the beer... the eclectic beer selections are the reason to give this place a try. read more

Went in for a weekday dinner. Was hoping for it to be good. Nice selection of alcohol if you're into that. The room was so dark I could barely see my silverware on the table. Maybe they were hiding cleanliness issues? Potato salad was edible, rolls were of the wonderbread variety, some of the meat was good and some very dry. The BBQ sauce was light and sweet. Dinner plates were not worth the high price they were asking. The waitress was very nice, served us warm food and kept up with our table. Not real BBQ in my opinion. Won't be back. read more

If this place was in Portland, it might only warrant four stars, but it has quickly become my favorite place to eat and hang out in Longview. Where else in the area can you find such an expansive, rotating variety of delicious microbrews on tap? And a wait staff who are not only knowledgeable about each selection, but will offer you a sample if you're on the fence? On top of their fantastic beer, literally every menu item I've tried has been awesome. The french rib dip is my favorite, but the sausage platter is also fantastic. They have great sides: homemade fries, hush puppies, red potato salad, and the oft-mentioned pepper jack mac n cheese. As far as their service goes, I've always had friendly waitresses who were quick to take my order, get drinks out, and bring the food. They do seem rushed, because they're getting busier all the time, but not rude. The only complaint that I have is how early they close, and how ambiguously they do so. What I mean is, nothing about this restaurant is really posted anywhere. There's not even a sign outside to indicate that the restaurant exists at all! Which also means: no posted hours. From what I understand, they don't really close at a specific time, they just stop taking orders and let people start to filter out. Which can be a little awkward if you're not aware of what's happening. Overall though, I'm consistently impressed with my experiences here, and would recommend it far and away over just about anything else in Longview. read more

The restaurant has typical food you would find at a craft beer oriented place. The sandwich I had can be made anywhere, I make better ones at home. I requested my side to be the chili mac, which the server told me it would only cost a little extra, not the full amount. The chili mac was mediocre. When we went to pay our bill in the bottle shop (as we purchased some bottles of beer) the cashier scratched out the price that the server wrote down saying "I just can't do that, you have to pay the full price for the chili mac", speaking to us like we are children. After I argued with her she changed it back to the original price, horrible customer service, I shouldn't have had to argue. A much better way to handle that situation would have been to explain that is not correct, but will give that price this one time and speak with the server. I was very disappointed with the customer service skills of this employee. I may try it again, but not for a long while. If that kind of behavior keeps up people may not want to go back. This restaurant has great food. They have beers on draft but you can also purchase a beer from their coolers. Same with the wine, if you don't like what they are serving by the glass then you can pick out a bottle of wine to buy. Kids aren't able to go in so it makes it a great date night location! read more
