What a gem!! As we walked into this welcoming (and busy) cafe on Friday at noon we weren't sure what to expect. But instantly we were helped and had our food within 15 minutes! The service was fast, efficient, and personable. All the staff seemed friendly and worked together like a well oiled team. The food was amazing! I had the chicken salad sandwich (see pic) and was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and yummy the sourdough bread was for my sandwich. I asked our server "Angie" and she said they baked it fresh every morning! The decor was just as the name "Country Folks Deli" described. I had heard things about this place but went for the first time yesterday. Most people in town seem to call it The Cow. The restaurant is enormous and adorably decorated. The staff seemed to be spread VERY thin. We were told to sit where ever we wanted, then it took a full ten minutes for a server to come to the table. Then another one came right after that and asked us the same questions. They would benefit from having a host and assigned sections. The food was really good. Some items more than others. The French dip sandwich was so good, homemade bread was amazing. The au jus for it was so salty I thought I was gonna OD on sodium. Same thing with the chicken noodle soup. The fries and wings were delicious. Prices are a bit steep. $10 for a half a small sandwich. read more

Impromptu drop in with a couple of friends after shopping nearby: I ordered a bacon cheeseburger that was written as a special on the blackboard upon entry. The service was prompt & friendly- our lemon waters brought quickly & actually beautifully done with 2 thin slices per glass, like on a mandolin type slices vs knife cut slices. The bacon for my cheeseburger was done just like I ordered: extra extra crispy & on the side. Another positive. My sides were both very good: the beer cheese soup which was mild of beer flavor & the home cut fries- NumO! The cheeseburger itself was good as well. The service was prompt & friendly. Our friends suggested eating here - now, when I see the word 'deli' I immediately think of glass case meat/cheese counter where they will make you up a sandwich to go. Not the case here! This is a full blown full service restaurant, with nice wood tables and comfy chairs decorated in country kitsch, and was dolled up for Christmas when we visited. The food came out FAST! The sandwiches, on fresh made buns/bread, were just right, my french dip was loaded with beef, lots of tots, I couldve used more au jus tho, it was so good. My pal said he loves the Hawaiian sandwich, I will try it if I get to come back. Wife mowed down her pastrami on beautiful marbled rye, she said her salad was good too. I disliked that her oil/vinegar dressing came in two wretched single use plastic cups - y'all know I'm trying to save the planet from plastic! Everything else was earth-friendly. Prices were reasonable. The table service was fantastic!!! Checked on us several times, water and coffee filled when needed. Nice place, feels like a bit of a hole in the wall when you go in, but it's a pretty big place. Our server was great, very attentive and friendly. I had a burger. It was fresh, and very tasty. My advice when they ask beer battered fries or fresh cut? Take the beer battered. Was with a decent sized group. Folks got salads, sandwiches and burgers. All of the food looked great! read more

I've come around on this restaurant, by a lot. They have insanely high quality food, at a totally reasonable price. Their menu options are bountiful, and they're accommodating with anything you ask. Which brings me to the OUTSTANDING service! Most of these employees feel like they've worked here decades. They're super friendly, they're checking up on you, and they're just overall outstanding enough to have relationships with my parents. (Who are regulars.) I like the atmosphere, it's pleasant and simple. There's tons of room for people to sit, and an entire big parking lot in the back. I can't get enough of this place. The food was ok. I had a cowboy burger with onion rings and my buddy had fish and chips. My burger was good, but the fish and chips was mostly chips with 2 pieces of small fried fish. I've been coming here for decades. It is, without doubt, the best lunch spot in the Longview/Kelso area. Staff are always friendly and personable, and the food is excellent! Delightfully charming cow themed cafe; that serves delicious food served by friendly servers! We've been here twice and have thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The last time we were here my husband ordered a breakfast special which included epic homemade potato's, two eggs and bacon. I ordered the beer cheese soup but had ordering remorse staring at my husbands potatoes! Food is served piping hot, delivered quickly and is absolutely delicious! Prices are reasonable and the staff is wonderful. This restaurant is now one of our favorites! If you come here make certain to try the bread! This is a delightful find. We had pastrami on rye and beer cheese soup. Both were very good. The marionberry cheese cake was a bit of a disappointment. The typing needed a bit of lemon or something to brighten it. Service was cheerful, friendly, and attentive. Well be back. read more

Very disappointed, First off I read the reviews and was excited to try this place out. A little pricey, $12 for a sandwich, a little high, and to add what turned out to be a very small green salad was another $5 (it was served on the plate between the 2 sandwich halves). I asked for extra onion on sandwich, and when I got the check , I saw they added another $2. So for a sandwich and salad with water it was $21.61. When I asked the cashier, was I actually being charged $2 for onion, his reply was you want extra you pay extra. He really copped an attitude. Hell I get extra onion on a burger and don't pay extra at Any other establishment, including fast food. And it's not like they put much onion on it in first place. Because of the attitude and the upcharge, I don't expect I would be back. I really want to support small and local business, but not willing to be nickeled and dined for it. read more

This place is great. Every day at lunch they have a special. The specials have all been half a sandwich and soup combo when I've been there. The specials have been offered at $11.95 recently. The sandwiches have all been great and soup very good. The soup is made in-house and changes daily. Service is very good and servers are friendly. The service was beyond excellent, accommodating every vegetarian (but not vegan) request. In addition the family atmosphere enhanced the wonderful experience. The Garden Burger with avocado and without a bun, with a side salad was very tasty. The Reuben sandwich that I had was amazing, the best I've had since the one at the Hawk'n'Dove in D.C. many careers ago. I have been here a few times and the food is usually pretty ok- not the best "country deli" food I've ever had but ok and convenient for lunch. Service is usually pretty good and nice. My compliant is while ordering a sandwich that doesn't come with fries or any side I ask for a side of potato salad as it is really good! They charge $5 for an icecream scoop of potato salad?? Slowest service!! And not worth the wait -- one staff didn't acknowledge wait time, excessive length, or offer even an apology for 25 min for simple sandwich order. Far busier visiting with regular, even during busy lunch, than focusing on folks waiting. Ten minutes to get water? 25 for a simple sandwich? I was in town for business and found this restaurant via Yelp. I came for lunch with a colleague and customer. We were greeted and seated promptly by a very friendly lady. We had waters quickly and our order was taken within 5 minutes. I had the Rueben which was great and the others orders a salad and the BLT. All were very good. It was truly a team effort with the three folks working the floor and man were they friendly and efficient. I recommend this place if you like solid food and fast friendly service. read more

Our waitress must have been having a bad day. From the moment we walked in the door and sat down. We noticed the mustard container was dirty, it even had dust and a hair stuck to the bottle. Then we ordered two sodas, they got mixed up. We are the type to not drink after each other. It was difficult to get her attention. When we did she had an attitude about the drinks, she did go get new ones and placed them both far from either of us. Then when we got our food, she placed the ticket on the other side of the table again a distance from us. We did notice her smiling and treating other customers with respect. read more

This is a really great place for lunch. It is very big and very busy so come prepared to do a little waiting, even though they do a great job of hustling to serve you. The menu was expansive and there were a ton of choices. I loved the variety and had a hard time deciding since everything looked so good! I had the beer cheese soup and pineapple chicken salad sandwich. Both were absolutely amazing and good portion sizes. The soup came topped with homemade croutons which were crunchy and yummy. The sandwich came on homemade bread and the chicken was quality meat and tasted so moist and delicious. I can't wait to go back and try something new from the menu. Prices were decent for the portions. Service was a tad unfriendly but I think the server was a bit flustered because it was so busy. If you are a paper crafter, this is an awesome stop as it is just a few doors down from an awesome local paper crafting store (Paper Crafters Addiction).
