This is a spot we frequent but after yesterday, it may not be anymore. I'm not going to go into too much detail but the treatment my friends and I experienced yesterday from THE OWNER, was uncalled for. While yes, technically what we were doing was not allowed, the owner came up to us, and yelled that we would be fined $500. Mind you, the bartender knew we were doing this so we thought it was fine. I want to preface this with the fact that this could easily have been handled with a simple "hey would you mind doing XYZ instead" I tried to remedy the situation and he all but threatened to fight me. He escalated it to the point where we felt very unsafe. He later apologized (kind of) when he realized that I was trying to help and not hurt the situation. I would be VERY weary of taking any child to this establishment. The beer is good and the music is a nice touch, but the treatment by staff was unacceptable. read more

I really liked this place. Great beer selection. Friendly bar tenders. Nice outdoor seating. Cozy, high-end, wood-everywhere bar interior and bring your own food. Seriously, I would love to have this place in my neighborhood and the fact that it's in downtown old grove city makes me pretty happy. The beer selection is top-notch with great beer that I was excited to try both from a national and local selection. I was planning to either go here or the Columbus Brewdog location, but this had better beer, which surprised me. It's no joke. The bartender was great. We (accidentally) showed up an hour before they opened and he let us in anyway and even pour us beer. Beyond that, he knew his beer and had great recommendations for everyone for what to try. We also got to bring over a Zamarelli's pizza and eat it outside, right on Broadway. It really gave the whole thing a New York or Italian piazza feel, which is amazing find in downtown Grove City. Came here to hear a local band, October Ember, doing live music on a Friday night. There's a parking lot kind of behind the building but I believe that is for the business next door, so you'll have to find street parking. Hop Yard 62 serves mostly beer, a few wines, and mead from Brothers Drake. I'm not a beer drinker so I opted for a glass of mead - blueberry chai - which sounded interesting but wasn't quite as sweet as I thought it would be. They don't cook food there, but there are several restaurants that deliver right to Hop Yard. I ended up getting sushi - philly roll; and crab rangoons from Michael's Hibachi and they were both very tasty! There are several restaurant options for delivery including El Vaquero, Applebees, City BBQ and Five Guys, and you can pretty much have your pick. In general it had a very chill atmosphere. I don't live near Grove City but if for some reason I were in the area again I'd probably stop again for the live music. read more

I stopped by to kill time while waiting for a friend to get off work. I came too early (they're not open until 5pm during the week) and the owner was nice enough to let me sit inside out of the cold while he finished opening the bar. They have a nice mix of beers and a decent happy hour that's definitely worth checking out. I wish they had more sours, but sometimes you're better off with only 1-2 good options than a lot of "meh" ones. Their flights sounded pretty neat too. They had specific categories you could choose from (dark, IPA, new to craft or pick your own). From following on social media, it sounds like they have food trucks a few times a week and some snack foods inside. I don't live in the area but I'll definitely make sure to visit again when I'm around! read more

The atmosphere around this place is great. A lot of hustle and bustle and they even had a live band while we were there. Unfortunately, that's the best thing about this place. The bartender I ordered from seemed extremely inconvenienced as I took a couple seconds to browse their menu. Since I felt rushed, I said I was looking for an IPA and their response was "Well, we have plenty." Struck me as stand off-ish as most would then expect a recommendation, no? Next time I went to order, I was given a beer that was very clearly the last of the keg. Half of the glass was filled with foam, and when it finally settled it was a very strange color. I didn't even mention it to anyone in my group but someone still commented that my beer looked odd. They did serve it to me on the house, but really I would rather have a fresh/good beer than save $5. Not surprisingly, that beer was scratched off their menu no more than 5 minutes later. Solid selection of beers. Looks mostly ohio brewed, not that it's a bad thing but other states make good stuff too. They offer flights for people looking to sample everything. Decent sized space indoors and a small patio out front with a few tables available for warm days. Bar tenders were pretty friendly, talked me up about the Sour beer on tap [I heart sours but doesn't seem like most of grove city does so far]. I think this place is a good step in the direction of expanding the local minds on beer. Would love to see other try to get in on this in the 'burbs. Looks like Hop Yard 62 may be paving the way for it. Kudos. read more

Great local place with several craft beers on tap. You can get a growler of any beer and take it home also. Musk of the Minotaur is a must but get there early because they will run out! The taps constantly rotate day to day which is great so you can try others. read more

The wife and I have been coming here since they opened. 21 beers on tap, with many more cans/bottles as well as wine and mead. Other places may have more taps, but Hopyard does a great job maintaining a selection for everyone. On any given night, you will have 3-4 IPA's, stouts, lagers, belgians, wheats, etc.... Basically they have something for everyone as long as it isnt Bud Light! If you want Bud Light, they may direct you to the free water station! I would also like to point out that this is the ONLY place in Grove City that offers this selection. I find it very annoying when craft brew places offer bad overpriced food (Not mentioning names but there is a place a block away that does this). Hopyard will let you bring in anything you want to eat. Grove City probably has the best pizza selection in the Columbus area, and there is nothing better than eating a Tammy's double pep at Hopyard while washing it down with a 8%+ IPA. A few places will even deliver food to your bar stool! On Fridays, they usually have a a pretty decent food truck, but you may still bring in whatever food you want. They have $1.50 off Happy hours and $2 can Thursdays. Finally, what we most appreciate about Hopyard is the staff. Over the 2+ years, bartenders Wade, Ben, and Matt have made us feel at home. I dont require a lot of attention, but its nice to be recognized in a place that you frequent a lot. They give great tips on beer and always a heads up on what is coming next. If a beer sucks, they will let you know. They also have learned what we like and can pretty much set the beer down that I will choose without even speaking to me. Check this place out! read more

I was visiting from out of state and met up with some of our Ohio friends here and we had a good time overall. It was cool to get to try a bunch of different beers at a pretty good price. I love trying out all types of beers. Some of them were pretty good, some were NOT good at all, but hey that's the point of the flights! The indoor and outdoor areas are fairly small. There was live music going on inside, so it was pretty loud in there and we ended up mostly outside. The actual service was a mixed experience and the main reason I just rated this place 3 stars. The first bartender that helped out was a female and she was great. I told her I wanted a flight with dark beers and she jumped right on it and then gave me a break down of each. The second bartender that helped out was a man that clearly seemed to be in a bad mood or just hates his job in general. I asked for the "first flight" from the menu on the board, assuming that meant there's a standard sampling of beers they pick for you since that's basically what the first bartender did when I ordered the dark ones. He then sighed and asked what do I want, I repeated "first flight" and then he seemed quite upset to have to tell me I have to actually tell him what beers to pick. So I just picked totally random beers, and of course, he returned them with no breakdown of anything like the first bartender did. Then my friend starts to order by naming off the beers he wants after just witnessing my interaction, but the bartender stopped and growled "Is this a flight, too?" when it clearly was. He then cut my friend off and makes a big production out of going to grab the little tray they put the beers in and then stares at my friend without saying a word implying that my friend can continue. So we both got our beers and were happy to have ended the need to interact with this guy. We made mention of it outside and a couple people overheard us and chimed in saying they were just talking about how that guy seems angry and "hates his life". Clearly, this place isn't a typical bar and I am sure it is a daily routine to have to walk customers through the process of ordering. When your body language and customer interactions are so poor, it can really have an impact on the reputation of the establishment. I am really not hard to please at all and rarely complain about service and can understand if a waiter/bartender isn't overly friendly or nice, but there is no excuse for this guy. Everyone else was nice and it is a neat place to try out. read more

Loved all the types of beer and I loved the feel of the place just DON'T OPEN A TAB. I went with a whole group of family and friends for my birthday. My boyfriend had opened a tab and throughout the night I only ordered maybe 4 beers. Since it was for my birthday a lot of my group was buying my beers for me. I was a little intoxicated as we were leaving so I paid my tab and was on my way. It wasn't till the next day that I saw that my bill was 80$!!!!!!! They were putting drinks that other people were buying me on MY TAB! One friend of mine went up and ordered a beer for me while I was still sitting down and THAT was on my tab!!!!! I COULDNT BELIEVE IT! I felt taken advantage of. Like the employees weren't even trying to get our tabs right. My brother's tab and both of my boyfriends' siblings tabs had similar issues. I'll never open a tab there again IF I decide to go there at all. I loved the atmosphere but I don't know if I can support a place that takes so little care in its customers.
