We have been wanting to try yellow springs for a while now! We tried visiting about a month ago but were unable to find parking, so give yourself a little extra time to find a spot if the lot is full. I ordered the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich, which was great (not too spicy for people who are sensitive). My fiance ordered the cheeseburger, which he also enjoyed! I definitely liked this place better when it was The Crest. For one thing, they've eliminated most of the seats at the bar. The service is basically self-serve. You have to stand in line to order your beer. You have to get your own water as well. When seated, there are QR codes at the table for ordering your own food, which is fine. But this is where I have a problem with tipping the full 20%. If it's not full service why give the full tip? At place like this tipping shouldn't even be suggested. What really got me is the price of the food at Yellow Springs. I paid $16 for a regular cheeseburger, and an extra patty was $6. It was probably the most expensive burger I've ever had, and there wasn't anything special about it. All things considered, I won't be going back to this restaurant. For the money I paid I can get much better food and service elsewhere. read more

Stopped in to meet a friend on a weekday night, and found a completely pleasant, adults in puffer jackets, working professional-vibe. A few toddlers accompanied their parents, and it was a calm but jovial atmosphere. Beers were lovely - Boat Show and their Farmhouse verily satisfied, and the food was nothing special but completely fine. We tried a falafel wrap that was small-ish but very flavorful. It came on a store bought pita, with falafel that were a bit wet inside? Drowned in tzatziki - which I prefer. Sweet and Spicy Fries were not spicy, but had a distinct Asian flair - very impressive looking and tasted good. You will not find any college students here (phew!). When the weather gets warmer I'll be back to meet neighborhood friends on the patio. read more

I am so happy this is in Columbus! I have previously visited Yellowsprings Brewery in Yellowsprings and enjoyed it so much. So I'm glad they're open here now and serve their own food! When you walk in, I expected a host stand and to be seated, but it's a first come first seating. However, you order everything (drinks and food) at the counter. That line seemed a little slow to get through from what I saw. However I sat at the bar and was able to order everything directly from my seat. There is a heated outdoor area to help add to the seating. I tried a few beers and enjoyed them all. My friend I was with did try a sour beer which was definitely one of the better sours beers I've had anywhere. The food was great. I ordered the Butternut Grilled Cheese which was so crispy and savory. I would have given it 5 stars but opted for 4 since the service was a little slow and slightly unorganized, which is to be expected however since this place just opened. Next time I come here I hope to give it 5 stars! read more

I was super excited to try this place when they opened! I have mixed feelings, the drinks were super cheap (1 cider and 2 beers plus tip was $14 during Happy Hour) and the ambiance was so nice inside! The service was great, but the cider and beers were just not very good :( I'd still be open to try them again when it warms up in the spring / summer, but for now it's probably a pass. Congrats on the grand opening! My co workers and i were able to grab a spot after work and it was packed. The ambiance was very nice and welcoming . Service was very nice and helpful. However I was very disappointed in the food. They have a full kitchen and my poutine was pitiful, it had zero gravy and the egg was too fried it had black around the edges. It was not worth 12$. I think the menu could use some work, but I would go back for their drinks. read more

I had a late lunch there on Thursday, December 21, around 3:30pm. I had taken a long hike with my son and just gotten back into town from a state park. We were hungry, wanted a beer and Yellow Springs was new, having replaced "The Crest". It is located at the corner of Indianola and Crestview. I would say it is west of Clintonville, north of OSU and inside Columbus, OH proper - but I am no geographer. The beers are all small batch brews (at least on the menu) and I selected one matching my plebeian tastes (I often drink cheap, watery beers and like 'em). This one, while golden was flavorful, cold and crisp. There was more than one bartender, the bar was crowded, but not the tables in the room. I got a fried and battered fish sandwich and fries, my son a falafel and fries. Atmosphere was lively but not obnoxious. The service was friendly and fast. The location (for us) was perfect - a neighborhood bar! The food: tasty, well-presented. The breading on the fish was crunchy, the fries were crunchy and salty. Without asking, our barkeep brought over malt vinegar. What a friendly and customer-aware gesture! I'm going back. read more

Yellow Springs Brewery is one of Ohio's best and I was really excited to see them open up an outpost in Clintonville. The spot is stylish and welcoming, with a comfortable bar and plenty of space to sit or stand. Unlike the original sport in Yellow Springs, this branch has a full menu of familiar bar favorites. Breweries without food are the bane of my existence so I was thrilled. I had the sweet & spicy chicken sandwich and it was delicious! A tasty and unique take on a classic chicken sandwich. YSB's beers are excellent and everyone will find something to love. Ask the friendly bar staff for a recommendation. read more

Was finally able to try out the new Yellow Springs Brewery location in Clintonville. I've been to their location in Yellow Springs and both have a unique atmosphere that is upbeat and focuses on that beer drinking scene. Plenty of different seating options. We specifically went for dinner so primarily this review will focus on that experience and less on their beers. Overall, the food was just ok. Everything came out relatively quickly, but was all just barely warm. We got the cheese curds which looked good, but lacked much flavor. Again, they weren't gooey in the middle like you'd hope for. Two of us got the French dip and while it had decent flavor, it was $18 just for the sandwich and another $3 for the fries. Their price points along with the lack of some flavor across the fries and cheese curds is primarily why I take two stars off. The food prices in general fall on the higher end and for a taproom, that seems out of character. I hope they would dial up the flavor in the future and add some spices/seasonings. I'd also hope they would reevaluate the pricing across the board. The pretzels and cheese looked good, but couldn't justify $10 for two pretzel sticks and cheese. I wish them the best and I'll give them another shot in the future and will update this. read more

I am going to preface my review with, I really like Yellow Springs Brewery and beers and really wanted to like this taproom. I haven't reviewed a restaurant in probably 10 years so it took a lot for me to actually write this: Quality of the food: subpar without even considering the price - Bread on the French dip looked half-baked (like the people that priced the menu), no au jus with the French dip. Burger was overcooked tasted like metal with the cheapest lowest quality neon green pickles and for $16 for the worst burger I've had in recent memory should have come with fries - frame of reference a double at Preston's with fries is $14 and is 14x better. I would rather go to McDonald's before eating here again. The prices are truly absurd: $22 for the Chef's platter appetizer that costs sub $8 to make. Pretzel was decent, beer cheese was served in a plastic cup and quickly went cold and solidified. Rest was un-noteworthy. $21 - $18 for a "French dip" sandwich with no au jus / "dip", 90% bread + $3 for fries, I can't comment on the flavor but it did not look enjoyable $16 Burger (without fries) that tasted like metal Then, the service: My cousin and I order at the same time and it took 15min longer for his "French dip" to come out. (This is apparently standard as my wife was there a week or so before and had the same thing happen). Service was less than transactional, no one asked how our food was or if we need anything...like water. Waitress just drop our "s**t" off and left. She only actual confirming what she was dropping off a rare few times. Note to the owners: the app ordering system is a crutch for peak times, not a business model and a replacement for service and hospitality. The app system also leads you to think the beers are priced lower but they really aren't when you go to order a pint or BS "Tulip" pour. I normally tip 20-30%, even a $1 on take out here and there, but I struggled to give $1 for the s**ttest service of my life. None of the staff even acknowledge you when you walk in so everyone kinda walks in cluelessly & aimlessly wandering to figure out if it's self seating or not, unless you've been there before. YSB is degrading their brand name and good will with what they are doing at this location. I was going to buy a couple of six packs to go, but after everything I decided not to. This place won't last without serious management, pricing & menu changes. I won't be returning until I find out there's been an overhaul. Pro tip/TL;DR: go to Derive or Preston's instead read more

Had high hopes for one of my favorite breweries joining the neighborhood. Disappointment was my initial reaction. Ambiance was very low key without much energy or intrigue. The Ambiance is currently very energetic, busy, and moderately loud. It could benefit from additional acoustic treatment. Service was amazing due to the qr codes mated to the tables. The downside would be that it requires a phone, but as busy as it gets, it's really the only way to get it done. Food selection and portions are small for the price. The sampler platter and appetizers I saw could maybe serve 2, but not really a full table of people. The fries are the coated (I guess for crispier results) style that I typically see at snack bars and lower grade eateries. Nothing looked good enough for the price. Beer selection is varied enough and tailored to the younger crowds and tastes. If I lived in the area, I would probably walk here pretty often. Nice venue and addition to the neighborhood. read more

The crest was a full service restaurant and it was replaced with something slightly better than the service model at chipotle. If I spend $20 on a burger I want a regular server. I don't want to have to ring in my drink each time. Food was good. I had the French dip, I thought the fry portion was too small for the additional charge. Enjoyed the vegetarian poutine as well. I hope they bring on staff and make this a full service restaurant. Until then I suggest they remove the 25% tip option when paying your bill. I love Yellow Springs beer and the OG taproom in Yellow Springs Ohio, but I like the cool coffee shop vibe at this one just a bit more. The lounge chairs in the corners are a nice touch and popular, so get there at a good time if you want to nab those. If you want face to face service, sit at the bar. Four bar tenders asked me if they could get me a beer before I actually settled on one, lol. If you sit anywhere else you can easily order off the QR. I personally like the less contact feature here. It's become more common at all taprooms in the area. My fav thing to order was the filet o' fish which is a bougie take on the McD version, with a much healthier portion of lightly battered white fish, yum! read more

Not a great brewery. I've heard great things about the original yellow Springs brewery, but this one was certainly a disappointment. The service was slow, confusing and inattentive. The menu skewed heavily towards IPAs for beverages and the cocktail list and wine list were very generic. The food menu seems as if it was written by AI with a few weird twist that seemed more appealing than exciting. Prices were also very high, especially for such a lackluster menu and poor service. I had high hopes when they came into the spot so hopefully they get it together, but right now I would avoid this place. read more
