We had such a great experience at Hops on the Hill! We came in with friends and had a wonderful meal from start to finish. The BBQ was fantastic, and the service was truly incredible. Our drinks came out at a perfect pace, and our server was attentive without being overbearing. They kept the waters coming, which is such a small thing but makes a big difference when you're enjoying a meal. The atmosphere here is warm, comfortable, and welcoming. The decor is beautiful and inviting, and you can tell a lot of thought went into creating a place where people want to sit and stay awhile. Even the restrooms were spotless, which says a lot about the care put into the whole experience. Everyone in our group had a great meal and a great time. Food was delicious. Tender and juicy brisket. Mac and Cheese was creamy and flavorful. The beans were perfectly balanced with sweet/spicy The 3 bbq sauces were all very good. Texas, carolina, and marion berry spicy. My wife had a martini that was delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and did a great job. I love this place. It's kind of a Boujee bar on Tumwater Hill. The food is always amazing. Our servers are great every time. The lighting is dim and perfect. We went for New Year's Eve to start the night with an appetizer. Their Brisket queso never disappoints. I would have given 5 stars but the 2 person band was AWFUL. It's a shame I have to leave a review like this because the food was pretty good. My waitress Simone was honestly kinda terrible. When she wasn't rushing and being rude she was just messing up and lying to us. She charged me the wrong amount for the food that I got and when I asked her about it showing as charged in my bank account she very tersely told me that it'll change to the correct amount in a little bit but it still hasn't. Also she lied about offering a military discount. I asked her in person and she said they didn't and I just called their restaurant again and someone else said they did. Yo fire this chick it's a shame that I paid **more than I should have** to be treated like shit. A four dollar tip was too much. Have a great day. read more

Excellent food! The chili was flavorful, with chunks of brisket, and rich tomato flavor, very filling. The Cuban sandwich was so good I didn't need any BBQsauce. Mac n cheese was mildly spicy and very cheesy, absolute perfection! Their meats are tender and not overly smoked like a lot of places. This place does it right! Service was excellent. Smoked Chicken wings with I believe is a house made ranch ooohh yeah! So good... the chicken was juicy grilled and smoked by a pro. Potato soup and grilled bread. Hmmm soup was creamy and hearty. Comes with all the fixings like cheese, bacon, etc yup. Making your mouth water! Next, was the bbq plate. They offer several sauces that you will have a hard time choosing which one is better. I chose the sliced brisket and chopped brisket for my daughter. The sliced brisket was juicy, easy to cut, full of smoky flavor, and nice thick cut. I keep telling you all that PNW is coming through with their bbq. This plate came with sides. I chose potato salad & baked beans. All of it a hit sheesh. Also has a side of pickles and white onion with slices of white bread. But what was really special is their cole slaw and cucumber salad! I never tasted anything like this. It was zesty, fresh, and light. Perfect kick and seasoning. My hubby ordered seconds. We were so full he had to go walk it off. Crazy good brisket queso. Like crack in a bowl. I could eat that stuff by the spoonful. The brisket is so perfectly seasoned and tender. A massive burst of flavor in your mouth and then the creaminess of the queso.... If ever I get the opportunity to have a "last meal", the brisket queso from Hops on the Hill would be a contender. I enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. It's pretty chill and relaxing. Nice, simple rustic feel. And the service has always been consistently good. I literally just had the most amazing meal here, it's hard to find good quality food anymore, I often leave places thinking .." God that was gross" not here, it smells so good when you walk in, they smoke their meats in house and let me tell, they know what they're doing here. I'm super picky. I had the brisket dip with mac n cheese as a side, it was absolutely perfect. 100% will be making this my goto for going out to eat. Oh and I also I had the queso and chips the other day "amazing ". I have to try to NOT come here more often. I work in a restaurant, full disclosure... but dammit the French 75 and PULLED PORK are AMAZING! It's casual and neighborhoodihsh. Everyone that works here is great with handling the business regardless of busy or slower times... knowing when to engage with guests and when to let you enjoy your time alone. There was only us and one other group and we had to constantly ask if we needed something so not the best service however the food made up for it! I don't usually review a place after one visit, but we tried a lot of the menu and staff were great! If I recall correctly, there were 3 employees (all male) working. All three were super chill and engaging. My date commented on how friendly our server was without feeling fake. Totally agree. I would totally be his neighbor. Anyway. Food. What you really wanna hear about. Nachos - so yum! I would come here just for nachos and a beer. I will say, don't bother paying extra for brisket. There wasn't much on there. Pulled pork - so yum! Not dry and good flavor Half rack of ribs - I'm assuming they were delicious because he didn't offer to share lol Creamed corn - pretty yummy! Potato salad - meh. Not my favorite. But you might like it! Mac n cheese - dry and not very flavorful. Ate it with my pulled pork and it added life to it. Cornbread muffins - you get two! On our way back home, we stopped in, and we were so glad we did. It's a cute little pub that is, in fact, on the hill. He ordered the Smoked Brisket Mac & Cheese bowl, and that may have been the best brisket we've had in quite some time. I ordered the @StPatricksDay special - a Rueben sandwich made with some amazingly delicious corned beef on golden toasted Rye bread. I also had an old fashioned which was well made, and he had a sour from Pfreim. The staff was friendly and attentive. The dining area is nice looking with a rustic collection of hard hewn woods. The parking lot is decently sized. They have an outdoor dining area that appears to be only one seasonally. The restroom was clean and well kept. I reached for the BBQ sauce and found it too thin and watery. The meat tasted good, but such a small portion on a regular-sized bun for $17 was a bit spendy. My sister is a regular here and loves it, so when we asked where she wanted to be treated to for her birthday this was her top pick. Having celiac disease as myself, the ability to guarantee a gluten free order lets her enjoy eating out without worrying about getting sick. She's had great experiences here as she frequents it pretty often. The restaurant has a nice low key casual atmosphere with a large bar breaking up two little seating areas. We had an early dinner like around 430 on a Friday night and had no issue finding an empty table to snug up in. They have lots of gluten free options including nachos in their apps, pretty much all their BBQ, and some delicious sides and salads. We ordered the nachos with pulled pork and the BBQ meat and side platter with chicken and brisket. Biggest issue we had was that our server was really nice but seemed to struggle with taking down the simple two item order. We ended up with nachos with no pulled pork, despite asking her to alert the kitchen of our gluten allergy, the entree came with bread on top of it. Then it was remade with ribs instead of the brisket we'd ordered. We felt bad because she was really nice just seemed totally overwhelmed with us and one other table who she still hadn't even served drinks to yet. Once we got our BBQ it was all really good. I was mostly impressed with the brisket but the husband and sister raved about the nachos, wings, and sides and everyone left happy and full. Based on my sister's experience this was pretty unusual so I think this is likely a very solid place with great gf snacks and drinks and we just hit it on an odd night. Thanks, yelp! Earlier this week while passing through town, I picked up a turkey sandwich and some chili, and the turkey sandwich was fantastic. It was really the combination of everything about the sandwich....the turkey itself, the fantastic onions, and the equally fantastic pickles combined with the Carolina sauce all worked together to make a really good sandwich. The gal that helped with my to go order was super nice, and didn't blink when was credit card was wet because I accidentally washed my wallet at the car wash. Def a pleasant experience. read more

Other reviews will complain about prices (don't eat out or choose mcdonalds instead) I've paid more for bbq and it wasn't as good as it was here. Ordered the ribs and pulled pork along with creamed corn and mac and cheese. Everything had that homemade cookout vibe and couldn't get enough of each bite. And their housemade BBQ sauces, superb loved the huckleberry hot sauce not too hit, not too sweet, but just right! Servers/Bartenders both times were very friendly and accommodating, with suggestions for not only food but drinks to try on tap. Driving back from Seabrooke back to Seattle, kids were hungry and needed to stretch their legs. I found the place on yelp, and the reviews are 100%. This place is great! The food was delicious, everyone found something they liked. We even ordered the smoked carrots for an extra veggie and they were fantastic! Highly recommend for the perfect midway to Seattle stop for good food and not a chain. Just off the exit from highway 101 at the exit before I5. Kids split the meatball sub, and caesar salad. Hubby and I split the two meat platter with two sides. Carrots and twister fries to share. Drinks for all four and our bill was less than $75. That is a very rare occurrence when a family of four goes out to eat. Plus the service was amazing! Our waiter was very accommodating and very friendly.
