Our HVAC system in our home died during a recent heat wave. Although we had a local HVAC that we used. We thought it made sense to get a competitive bid and we called Horan Oil. Ken, the HVAC person from Horan impressed us with his expertise and whereas our former HVAC company told us it might be weeks before we could get a new system installed, Ken seemed pretty confident that they could get everything done within a few weeks. He gave us a couple estimates on HVAC systems. The estimates were significantly lower than the other company. We had a lot of questions about the different units and someone from Horan patiently answered each question. I have used Horan oil for a long time and can honestly say that they are amazing. I had a problem with my hot water heater this weekend. This was a big problem because I have a young baby that could not take cold baths. Horan oil sent someone out the same day to fix our water heater! George and Brad both got our water heater working that day. I've been a customer of Horan's for 3 years - now going on 4. Given the unprecedented times we are all dealing with the inflation, I thought I may need to switch my home oil supplier this year.. I called around to a few local companies and I was given some very competitive capped rates, but I ultimately decided to continue my business with Horan even if that meant spending more and I will explain why. 1. Their oil is unlike anyone else. I moved into a house that had an original tank from the 60's and was being filled with some of the lowest quality oil over the years. We moved in in 2019 and started using Horan right away. We knew our tank was on it's last leg and thankfully we did get almost 3 years out of it, but ultimately we ended up needing to replace it due to a few minor leaks. We found out upon replacing it that those minor leaks were being plugged by sludge build up over the last several decades and Horan's oil was what began to chip away at the build up and allowed the oil to slowly trickle out. And I'm not mad about that. Why? Because that means their oil is doing it's job - it is not a gimmick, I promise. It's keeping the inside of your tank from creating build up of sludge, grime, and excess water. It's clean. It will prolong the life of your tank and system, thus likely resulting in less headaches down the road. I am a firm believer of "cheaper isn't always better", especially with big ticket items. Also, with the oil tank replacement we were directed to Atlantic Tank who is another local small business and they were such a pleasure to work with, so thank you for the recommendation! You can tell this company takes pride with who they associate themselves with and we didn't hesitate taking a recommendation from them whatsoever and neither should you. 2. Their customer service is phenomenal. From the lovely ladies in the office (Kendra, Nicole, and Katrina to name a few - but they are all a pleasure to speak with!) to the techs we've worked with that took the time to share their knowledge and inform us about our system (George, Nick, and Mike), to even the gentleman who was a tech and now works within the office (I'm sorry, I forgot your name!) who answered some of our furnace questions while we waited for a part to come in. My husband and I had the most eventual homeowner hardships this past April (like that old saying goes, everything happens in 3's..) resulting in lots of replacements and repairs and money to be spent and Horan held our hand and guided us every step of the way as two naïve first time homebuyers who never dealt with oil heating before. They worked with us to resolve our issues in a timely fashion and also allowed us to break up the expenses so our bank account did not take a huge hit all at once without any additional fees or charges for doing so. Not a lot of companies will do that for service and labor and it was greatly appreciated and certainly not forgotten. All in all, the entire team who makes up Horan are A+ and you can tell from every interaction they take pride in their customers as a company. I hope they are all receiving the praise they deserve because Horan Oil, you have a dream team. At the end of the day, I'd rather spend a little extra to continue to get the exceptional customer service this company provides. read more

Owner contacted me and furnished documents to explain his side of the story on the service call bill. It appears that the bill was rescinded but I was going on the principle of the issue. He called me twice and had a lengthy conversation so based on the fact that Horan is the largest provider in my area and did work with us for a few years before any issues arose I have asked them to provide a quote for boiler and hot water heater replacement. read more

Looks like Yelp has buried my previous review. We stuck with Horan for oil delivery and have been pleased. Service has been great and the staff has been friendly. I do not recommend them for servicing due to the high markup, but for oil delivery they have been great - good prices and good service. read more

Horan oil saved us when our AC went out this past summer. They came on short notice, their tech was knowledgeable and polite, they diagnosed the issue and came back the next day to finalize the repair. Their office staff always pick up the phone within the first ring with no annoying automated system. I liked them so much that when I moved to a new home with oil heat I signed a contract for heating fuel and the great service has continued. read more

He also did not make excuses for them and sounded like he was going to set them straight. He seems like a good guy that really cares about his business and doing right for his customers. I am a new customer of Horan Oil so I can't speak to satisfaction over a long period of time. However, I'm giving 5 stars because Horan Oil saved the day for my family. I'm a new home owner and woke up to no heat due to an empty oil tank. On top of that, I was hosting a holiday party that night. I called a few places but Gus from Horan was the only person that told me he could show up that same day (provided I started a contract with them). 4-5 hours later I had a full tank of oil and heat running in the house again. Technician that showed up was very friendly and willing to explain everything to me that he was doing to get things running again (bleed air and prime furnace). Also, wiped his feet extremely well before walking into my home which I know is a small thing but goes a long way for a home owner. Thanks Horan for saving the day for us! I've been using Horan oil for 15 years (since I bought my house). I have never had a problem that wasn't resolved, question that wasn't answered, or compliment that was not truly deserving. The office staff is so easy to deal with and it extends all the way through to the techs. Everyone is so knowledgeable and friendly! We signed up with Horan Oil for automatic delivery knowing that we would probably be switching to propane within a year. When we discussed that with Horan Oil, they said it wasn't a problem, and the early termination/price cap fee would be waived. I was told this again by a customer service rep when I called in to let them know that we had the work scheduled for two months out (during which time they of COURSE came to top off our oil tank, leaving us with 120 gallons of unused oil to be removed). When we finally called to suspend service, they sent us a bill with our "contract" which had a bunch of prices and numbers crossed out and revised by their sales rep AFTER WE HAD SIGNED IT. THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST! read more

When we first moved into our house last year, a very personable gentleman from Horan came to our door to promote the company. He told us that if we authorized automatic delivery, we would never be charged more than a particular price (which was a reasonable 2015 price). We specifically asked what would happen if oil prices dropped, and were assured that we would be charged a fair market rate - the cap just protected us if prices rose. We agreed since it seemed like a win-win for us. However, oil prices have drastically dropped, and we've always been charged the full "capped" price, which is currently almost $0.70 more per gallon that current rates. They also delivered twice in six weeks! When we called to question, we were informed that they are a "24/7 operation," they use "special oil," and that their current price is actually even higher, so the cap DID save us money. Out of curiosity, we called other local companies that use the same type of oil, and they were significantly cheaper. The personnel at the company are all very pleasant, but they are very misleading and their prices are inexcusably high. There are other companies that use the same fuel blend and offer 24/7 services at a far more reasonable rate. read more

I am amazed at this company. I usually spend my online time making sure people don't make the same mistakes I do, but I have to say something different these people. I have never, and I mean never, felt as if a company actually gave a crap about anybody until I signed up with Horan. After the flood, I thought I wised up and over-credited them for what any company would do. Caught up in the moment thing I was thinking. But they came out and solved a big smoke problem since then, and gave me the inside info on how to get my system replaced with no money down, and rebates to boot. The guy also fixed my doorbell ringer after I didn't hear him at the door. Who does that these days? I'm still a non-believer in corporate decency, but I'm starting to believe that there really is an exception to the rule. read more

Yes they are good at taking money from people. Horan oil scam your money. They come out and service your heating system. And they have to come out again, the system failed and they said the oil filter was the problem and we got charged another $300. I am going to sue them and take them to court. When you see the top of the line Mercedes work truck pull into your driveway, you'll know why after you receive your bill. On top of that, not only are the techs bad but senior management isn't any better. First they come out for a basic scheduled tune up but 5 minutes after arriving they tell me i can't run my system due to a flue pipe crack and proceeded to tell me i needed to replace my ENTIRE 30 year old system due to just a bad mixing valve, which only costs $200 installed. 2 weeks later, more than 4 calls to senior management I finally get a quote IN THE MAIL. (no call, no follow-up from the VP), just a letter (Now that's professional).By the way, this was the quote to repair my system just to get it back up and running after they shut it off and left me with no heat or hot water. They also quoted me $12k to replace the entire boiler system that only services 1000 square house REALLY PEOPLE! (Ah yes, the Mercedes truck i get it now). Stay away, Stay far far away. don't let the cheap price of fuel deter you like it did me, not worth it. read more
