This company is very poorly managed. I called to get an estimate on repairing a two car garage door that was damage by wind storms in Longmont, Colorado. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The first two appointments were canceled by the company.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were able to get the third appointment 12/21/2025.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The technician called to tell me he could repair for $750.00 or replace but replacement would be over $2,000.00. I asked if the repair would make the door optional. The reply was yes. So I gave permission to repair the door. Much to my surprise the final invoice was over $900.00. I asked what was done to the door. The technician said he had fixed the one panel of the garage door. He insisted that the tenant at this location attest to the fact the door would now open and close. I reminded him that his estimate was $750.00. He told my tenant that he was not leaving until he was paid. This included a tip, plus two other charges that were never discussed. The technician said he could waive the two additional fees not discussed or included in the estimate of but with tax the price was $810.00. When I got a copy of the invoice there were NO repairs listed (parts or labor) just maintenance items that were never mentioned previously. My tenant said the technician keep repeating he wasn't leaving until he was paid! My tenant was concerned about this threat of staying if not paid. After talking to the tenant he said the only thing done was the technician put 3-4 new screws in the bracket that connected the remote opener to the door. However, the bracket now cause the connection to scrap the ceiling and he was forced to open and close manually. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After contacting the sales manager he said he would inspect and let me know what was actually done.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We set an appointment for a Sunday of that week. However, the manager said he had just returned from his vacation and could not make the appointment because there were other people that needed his service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The manager never looked at the situation. The manager agreed to refund my cost because he did not want to argue with me. I haven't seen the actual refund but I caution you if you decide to hire this company. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I gave 1 star because they came the day I called.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The estimated time of arrival was between 11:30 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. They arrived after 1:00 p.m. and they left at 7:15 p.m. (6 hours to install belt motor opener.Belt opener was $2,600 plus $400 for installation, 2 remotes were $160, wall button was $50, outside key pad was $70, putting three nails in wall board was $100, carrying off packaging and old motor was $100, card fee was 3% & 3 year warranty was $150 for a grand total of $4,100. They offer no tip, 10%, etc. If I had known the individual charges such as $100 for putting 3 nails in a board, I would have deducted $100 for the installer using my restroom, $100 for a Powerade Zero, $100 for him using my iPhone charger. This is a franchise to avoid. If you are in the Alexander City, Alabama area, call my regular guy Byron Bradley 256 825-5869. He is honest, trustworthy and a great communicator. A lot of companies ask you to review their services, but I am doing this just because I am so happy with Horizon. We did our research and read up on reviews (as most people do) and decided to go with Horizon for 2 new doors and openers. Initially we wanted just new insulated doors, but I wanted the openers to get the "full experience". Ours made a horrible, loud annoying sound when opening which made me pretty self-conscious when opening our doors constantly with our neighbors outside. The technician who came out was on time (early on the second day even) and did a great job. When I finally got to try them out for the first time, I was BLOWN AWAY. THEY ARE SILENT. THEY RETAIN THE COLD AIR MUCH BETTER. THEY ARE PERFECT. Overall I am very happy with their services. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They didn't use common pressure inducing sales tactics during the initial consult, signaling that they're not desperate for business which made us feel at ease.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They didn't take any money until we signed a contract clearly outlining all of the work to be done, and they only took an initial deposit and didn't ask for the rest of the payment until the work was completed. If we had to do this experience all over again, I would feel 100% comfortable using Horizon and I'll recommend them to neighbors if they're interested in getting new doors too. :) Thanks guys! read more

I chose Horizon for a complex garage door replacement based on rave reviews and while the end product seems good the process to get there was an absolute nightmare. Project consisted of replacing a two-door garage setup with a single large/wide door. This required demolition of the existing garage opening and reframing it to support the larger door setup. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everything was initially great until we got closer to the start of the work. Out of the blue I received an e-mail with a work schedule for the install which wanted to start in just 2 days.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately that was a busy week for me so I asked to have the work rescheduled and gave them my availability. They agreed to reschedule it for two weeks later but said they would send a confirmation and updated schedule once they've finalized a new install date. That never happened and I was calling and e-mailing them up until the Sunday of the week that work was penciled in to start to see if they were going to start work the next day on Monday before finally getting an answer that the install would not start until the middle of the week.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So once work did begin they removed the old doors and equipment and then demolished and reframed the opening. However, the initial framing ended up failing the county inspection and for the next 1.5 weeks there was absolute radio silence from Horizon on what they were doing to rectify the situation and what the new timeframe would be. [[HIGHLIGHT]]E-mails sent for information and clarification mostly garnered little to no answers and simply tried to assure me that things were being worked on as fast as they could. And maybe they were, but it's impossible for the customer to perceive that if they refuse to communicate and at least give a general ballpark estimate for when things will get resolved.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And during this entire time I had to deal with a non-functional garage and plenty of anxiety and worry about what the hell is actually going on. After a long wait they finally came back to rework the framing and over the next week there was a constant back and forth with the county inspectors to get things hammered out. And quite frankly, it was very clear that they didn't know what they were doing and simply were tackling it via trial-and-error until something finally stuck. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All the while I was left in the dark as to what was going on and whether or not I even needed to be home for it (I wasn't) which ended up costing a lot of vacation/PTO hours for nothing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Any delays or additional work that they had to do were repeatedly shrugged off as simply being normal and part of the process. Well it may be true that this was all part of the process but it doesn't change the fact that it's a stupidly bad process. At long last they finally passed the inspection and got approval to continue with the install. They came back one day to finish the exterior of the house and install additional framing and then two days later came back to do the actual door and opener install. At long last, it seemed like it was finally over except they had gone ahead and created two exterior light fixtures even though I had previously stated that I didn't want or intend to have any exterior lights installed. Took them over two weeks to finally return to remove the light fixtures and redo the siding to fix the issue. Then just as I thought things were finally done I'm hit with surprise news that the county inspectors have to be scheduled to come back for a final inspection. Inspectors didn't even come inside so it was yet another wasted day. So, for a project that was originally estimated to only take 3-5 days of work if all went well, it ended up taking 3+ weeks of agony to get back a working garage, over 5+ weeks if you include the wait time that it took for them to come back and fix their mistake, and 6 weeks if you include the final inspection. In summary, if all you need is a simple garage door replacement then Horizon is (probably) fine. Otherwise if you need anything that involves construction work then you had best look elsewhere unless you really want to be stuck in their "process". read more

Horizon Garage Doors gave us a quote for new door installation plus door opener. Their price beat others by approximately $400. The install was flawless. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only problem I experienced was nailing them to a specific date to have the job done. After two e-mails with no commitment, I finally called their office and spoke with Ben.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After voicing my frustration, Ben arrived the next day and the job of installing a new garage door, tracks, and door opener was completed. He replaced the nut on the emergency Manuel handle and tightened the belt, fixed problem. He went on to explain rollers on door should be replaced. He said replace them for $25. each we had 10. I ask him what would Beto price to install and include work he had done. HE SAID $125. if he did nothing else or $250. if he installed rollers. I ask him again total price of $250. He said yes , I said will ck with wife and told her $125. for what he did or $250. to install rollers white we need to do. I went back to him and said ok lets install rollers $250 for everything. after he was finished he said any kind of payment ck, credit card or cash but credit card had a 5% charge, so we elected to pay by ck. when we ask him what name to put on ck he said ck was wrong he needed $125 More . I said no we agreed on $250. total. He said no he said $125. and $250. for rollers, so I told him to take his rollers back and I would him $125. ( he spent 10 minutes installing bolt and lighting belt ,Then he installed 10 rollers ib 15 minutes .) So he said I will need to call my boss and see what he saids . I used Yelp to contact many Garage Door companies late one evening. I received many responses saying companies would contact me in the morning. The next day I had four companies visit. Half of them sent techs who tossed out dollar amounts and time frames with no offer to write anything down. Ben from Horizon was the last to visit. By that time in the day I had learned more about what I wanted. Horizon was the only company to provide me with literature on door choices. Soon after his visit he provided detailed professional quotes for each of my requested options including a high lift install with jackshaft operator. One of the four companies was able to come in with a lower price and longer warranty. They were first to visit me; due to that and combined with the low prices and long warranty I scheduled them. On the day of installation the the other company sent a non-detailed estimate with legal terms stating that the customer would be responsible for any injuries sustained by their employees and explicitly stating a much shorter warranty than was discussed. Clearly this was a red flag but I was desperate to have my door installed that day. I called Ben at Horizon to see if he could fit me in that day instead of this other company. All along I had a good feeling about working with him. He juggled his schedule to accommodate me. Horizon arrived on time with all the proper materials. They finished the install without a hitch and it looks and works great. I prefer to work with professional companies like Horizon that provide documentation of the agreement. It's a peace of mind thing for me which is worth paying a bit more. read more

This company is pretty amazing and I am glad they are able to service white oak area. My garage door's steel cables came out and the door wouldnt close. I called them on a Sunday morning, schedule an appointment in the afternoon. One good thing about the company is they provide you free estimates and do not charge you for a visit. After scheduling the appointment, I got a call within an hour saying the technician was in the area and if possible could come now. The technician came in within 10 mins, looked at the door, figured out problems, walked me through the problem and had an estimate prepared for us. The door was fixed in an hour and cost was reasonable. The technician was very professional, knew exactly what to do. Once the door was fixed, the new work was tested to make a few adjustments. He did a free tune up for us on the top of the service. If I have to recommend him, yes, surely... Keep up the good work team! read more

So I am selling my home and I was hit on my garage door during my home inspection. I looked for a good deal on groupon because I was not trying to spend a lot of money for a repair on a home that I had sold. I called Horizon since they were based out of Columbia and I am located in Laurel. I called and spoke to Ben and he made me an appointment immediately. He arrived on time (they were very flexible) and after I explained my situation, he assessed my issue and advised that a tune up and lubrication is all that I needed. I respected the fact that there was no up selling or bait and switch. He completed the tune up in about 20 minutes and was on his way. My car was stuck in our garage due to broken springs. I requested for quotes on Yelp, and Ben at Horizon called me back promptly. He was courteous and sounded professional on the phone and offered to give us a same-day free estimate on site. He arrived right on time and gave us a fair and reasonable price. He replaced the springs, and also fixed our other garage door which had been malfunctioning, again at a fair price. He even gave both the garage doors a good tune up without charging extra! And he also programmed our new wireless keypad to open both the garage doors for no charge. :) We would highly recommend Horizon Garage Doors to friends and family! Since most of the posted reviews was very positive I called on Tuesday 11/13 and made an appointment for my broken garage door to be replaced. I must give kudos to him for arriving in a half hour. However, everything went downhill from there. He told me he was an independent contractor with the company and then we discussed price. He was very high on price compared to the other door repair companies priced. Since he was already there (and to refuse service may incur a service charge) I let him proceed. The next day Wednesday the garage door would not open or close. I called him, and he told me it was the eye sensors on the door not aligned and instructed me how to fix it without success. I told him I needed him to come back and fix it because it was working when he fixed it and we had done nothing to it. His reply was that he was very busy and could not come until Monday 11/17. I told him that was unacceptable he then said he would come on sunday11/16. Never seen or heard from him since. I eventually had it fixed. This is the service one gets for spending all that money he charged. I personally will not do business with this company again. read more
