A little pricey but great quality food and service. If you're able to get a temporary clubhouse membership while vacationing on BHI I'd highly recommend this place

You can see the sunset if you sit on the beach side.

Excellent food and gorgeous view! The complimentary bread is warm and delicious. Shrimp and scallops risotto is delicious! Portions of that dish and the yummy shrimp pesto tend to be small, which is fine by me but a larger hungry person may be expecting more food. I also love the island bowl. Desserts are amazing. The flourless chocolate torte is my fave, but note that it is a petite portion. I love the Meyers lemon cake too. Service can be slow. It's an island and it's difficult to find staffing. Give the wait staff some grace.

We love the new Horizon's restaurant located in the Bald Head Island Golf club. We adore that they offer under the restaurant parking with golf carts. The restaurant itself is beautiful offering outdoor eating and inside eating with a view of the kitchen. Two bars keep the service running smoothly. Great servers that know their menu are always good at making suggestions for the specials and the menu. The food is very good and there are selections for every kind of eater. My favorite are the pasta dishes. Our favorite thing about Horizon's is looking out over the views to the ocean.

I'm giving Horizons 1 star because they have a great view. we ordered the tuna nachos. They look gorgeous, but I had a piece of fish that literally tasted like nail polish remover. Awful. I ordered the surf and turf as an entree. Yes, it was VERY flavorful, but not in a good way. Literally had food poisoning after this meal. Highly don't recommend.

Great for both lunch and dinner with good seafood. Best experience so far on bald head island by far.

We started walking around and my wonderful wife suggested Copper Penny. Absolutely! There was a short wait for a table, but we didn't mind. The inside is almost like we remember it. We did notice the menu is a lot smaller. The last time we dined here was around ten years ago. Definitely plenty of options. We went with the onion ring appetizer, Cobb salad, and the BBQ Burger. The atmosphere of Copper Penny is the same. Definitely missed this place. After a short wait our food was brought out. Everything was delicious. This is just an update, but we still love Copper Penny and will continue to return.

Only like 9 tables so plan accordingly or you will have to wait awhile. Go during off peak hours to ensure a short wait time. Now the food...... 1. Cheese Steak Egg Rolls served w/chipotle ranch......Amazing!!!! Best we have ever had. 2. 109 Chestnut Chicken Sandwich had an amazing balance of ingredients that would make your mouth water. Very good and the fries as well. 3. Hot Roasted Pork Sandwich was very bland and had an excessive amount of spinach. Even the Au Jus couldn't rescue this sandwich. 4. The famous onion rings. Well they must of ran out of seasoning because these were more flour than flavor. Very doughy with no spices. Not worth the $9 * The alcohol mix drinks are pretty good. Definitely taste the flavor of each. Will give you a good kick.

People, passions, skills and caring are artfully combined at this outstanding intimate, charming and embracing gem of a Craft Bar and neighborhood fine dining experience! From reading/sampling the (creative does not do it justice) beverage menu, a diverse, succinct and dazzling offering of culinary knockouts (we sampled three) and the gracious hosts, we were... overwhelmed. We live in Tucson AZ and have frankly traveled in most states in this great country and journeyed to scores of nations across the globe. RARELY have we found a place that genuinely earns A BEST of THE BEST of Local Kudos. Loco Jo's does that and even more! But be advised, if you are looking for "same ole same ole" or "just like we had at ________" please do not seek it out. One final note, we really scoped out the room, tables and barstools. We were amongst folks who really were equally as discerning! Thank you Nikki & Chuck!

Outdoor seating is available. Small tables inside and bar seating that was full. It seems the bar is a big hit. After reviewing the liquor menu, I see why. Some really good ones available. We were seated near the entrance at a small table. The server brought us water and took our orders after a few minutes. We ordered beef dumplings as an appetizer and we both ordered blackened ahi tuna tacos medium rare. The tacos come with chips and salsa. Our appetizer arrived fairly quickly and was great. As we were finishing our appetizer, our tacos arrived. From first glance they looked really good. Then everything kind fell after that. The flour taco shells were cold and looked store bought. The cheese was also similar to the store bought shredded Mexican blend. The sauce tasted like mayonnaise and ketchup mixed together. They use way too much purple cabbage with a nice portion of ahi tuna. The taste was ok. The cold shell and cheese kind of stole the flavor from the tuna. The salsa provided had a strange smoky almost chipotle flavor. I think. It left a strange aftertaste. We wanted to give this place a try. Not sure we'll be back. Our server was good. She was attentive and smiled. We still have her a cash tip that was pretty good. The restaurant has a great vibe and has a lot of regular customers, as evidenced by everyone greeting each other as they entered. Overall, I think three stars is fair. I recommend giving it a try, but not for tacos.
