Ten years ago, my husband got my stunning engagement ring from David. Since then, we have gone in to have my ring cleaned, adjusted and my husband has purchased our wedding bands and other jewelry from him. I've always found him to be personable and friendly. I've also seen him interact with other customers. Never pushy or tries to upsell. We are not wealthy and he carries a wide variety of quality items ranging in prices. A good friend just recently lost his wife of over 50 years. He asked me if I knew a good reasonable jeweler that would be able to make something for him from his late wife's wedding ring. I took him to see David. We sat for quite a while as he got to know my friend and after showing him some options, he told him take some time to think this over. I'll still be here when you know for sure what you want. He didn't try to sell him an extravagant or expensive option. He wanted to make sure my friend was sure about what he wanted because of the delicacy of the situation. After a while of talking, my friend made his decision and feels that it was right for him. I'm very upset to see some of these negative comments because I know firsthand that David is NOT prejudge or racist. My husband is Mexican and I'm of mixed decent ethnically and religiously. His wife is Mexican as well, so this is so absurd to say he's racist. If you knew the man at all, you'd know his story and that he loves his wife very much. David is a very open friendly person. He's a fun-loving jolly kind of guy with his customers. If you were offended by his jokes, then you should have been an adult and said something as I know he'd apologize and does not mean to offend. You must be wound too tight and looking for excuses to talk smack about someone. Or maybe you're racist. Think about that a second. He's not a pushover nor should he be. As for his work, he stands behind it and we have never had any issues at all. Yes, his work requires more time than chain stores but its quality which is not fast or cheap. If you want something that is fast and cheap or unoriginial, go to a chain store. If you want unique and quality from a local business, go see David. read more

I enjoy the back and forth and bottom line, he gets it right every time. He is a craftsman, and artist. His son also does great work. His family are good people. Terrible, horrible customer service. I went to get a bracelet clasp replaced 2 weeks before Fourth of July. He stated it would be done the day after 4th. I called August 9th to pick it up and take elsewhere and the guy not only hung up on me but said I can't come pick up today and to wait until Tuesday because he doesn't touch the same items he took from you to begin with. At this point everyone needs to get their items reevaluated upon receiving. This place is beyond sketchy, unprofessional, inappropriate. To top it off, after his "employee" was beyond rude, saying my item would be 2 weeks instead of over a month. He had his boss reach out on his personal phone to say to get over it and the "employee" is his son. I would whole heartedly not trust this place. It's worth spending more elsewhere. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. They are extremely racist to Mexicans and the quality of their customer service reflects that. They were constantly stereotyping me for being Mexican and made me feel less than as a customer. They told me they were gonna up charge me because i was Mexican and laughed at it. They think they can get away with saying these rude and disrespectful things to strangers because his "wife is Mexican". It took 3 months for them to finish a resizing and engraving. When dropped off they would say it would take a week and that extended to three months. When they would answer their phones calls on the phone they were unprofessional and rude. They would say my item would be done in a couple days and when I would call later they told me nobody told me to do that and basically that I was crazy because they don't give time estimates. read more

Sadly this is the only place near that does repairs. I took 2 rings in to be resized, one a hand made eagle ring with a beautiful emerald stone setting in the middle gifted to me by my father. My experience here was paying $35 each for my rings to be unfinished and damaged. The emerald is cracked, the setting is now slid to the side and entirely crooked. This cherished keep sake is never going to be the same. Thankfully my engagement ring which is an heirloom piece handed down for 3 generations was not damaged but it was not fished off of polished when I picked it up. I wish I could get my money back and then some. This should have never happened. If it was going to be difficult to do right, I would've expected an establishment to let me know it couldn't be resized without ruining it. At least then I would still have the ring in tact. I would've been happy to receive a call that maybe my ring wouldn't be able to be resized and that I would be refunded. read more

Costumer service was the worst. Drop a ring off about a week ago and told David we needed it by the 1st called him on the first to see the status of the ring and he was very rude stating that if he didn't call yet than it is not done. Once I told him we needed it that day he was rude again and asked if I specified when I dropped the ring off that I needed it by a certain day once I told him yes he looked at the notes on the ring that stated need by 6/1 didn't apologize or anything and said he will try and get it done. Picked it up the next day again with his ride costumer service and was told another costumer that people are always dropping stuff off last minute and that it's cause I'm Mexican that I act like that. read more

Purchased a gold chain with a raiders shield awhile back. Had it appraised since we were thinking of trading it in for a white gold chain. Was told by Kay Jewelry that the chain was fake gold plated. I could not believe it so I took the chain to two other jewelry stores and a pawn shop they all told me the same thing. The chain was fake but stamped 24k. The guy at the pawn shop told me it was a really good fake and whom ever sold it to me was in the business of selling fake gold. I called David Horowitz store and spoke to this man and I explained my issue. He said he would give a message to the owner.. no returned call. There was always rumors that this store did shady business and switched stones to repairs but I hoped it was not the case. I lost money on this. The biggest issue I had was how long it took but I can't blame them for covid-19 causing delays. If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband took in a watch band to be replaced. David, ripped off the band and said he'd have to make a new one and it'd be ready in about 3 days. My husband returns in 4 days, to pick it up and then was told the "sick" story. A week later, still not ready because he had to order the band from from Japan. During the first attempt to pick it up, I dropped off two rings to have some stones replaced. The son, was stating all that "he'd" have to do to it and gave me a quote of $225 and they'd be ready in a week. Husband returns for watch band, hasn't come in it. Rings, haven't been able to work on them because his dad was sick. Weeks later, the watch band came in but it was missing the pins and he'd have to make them, another week. I received a call from the son, about my rings a few weeks later and I was told he'd have to do extra stuff and the cost would be an additional $50 and next week they'd be ready. Next week, they were not ready. After a month and a half with the watch band and my husband telling them, how he was frustrated with the run around as to when it would be ready. I asked for my rings back, the son stated he didn't know where they were and that it's one thing he doesn't do is go through his dads things. The son did state that he even agrees that his dad has horrible customer service. So, weeks and several stories and excuses later I finally get a call that my rings are ready. I go pick them up and I paid $400. This place is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! I Wouldn't trust these crooks and liars to repair a fake piece of jewelry. read more

My fiancé dropped off her engagement ring for a simple resizing and decided to have a second, silver ring resized at the same time. They told us it would be done three days later, and when we came in at the END of the day it was meant to be finished only one was "complete" and we were unceremoniously told by a man in a football jersey to come back the next day. No call to let us know we shouldn't come yet, no apology, no discount, nothing but a disappointing waste of our time. Upon looking at her engagement band it was entirely unfinished and the soldering point had not been refinished. After returning to pick up the second ring my fiancé is upset because the setting is now visibly crooked and off-set at an angle from being over heated, the original position is even visible, the emerald is chipped and damaged, and the silver at the base of the band is pitted from over-annealing. I have a mere couple of semesters of metal-smithing as an elective and feel confident that I could have done a better job. I understand difficulty with some resizing, but this jeweler should have told us that he was not confident with doing this so we could have taken the ring elsewhere instead of damaging the ring which was a gift from her father. I am relieved that the issue wasn't with the heirloom wedding band, but that feels like luck rather than expertise. Don't take your jewelry here if it is meaningful and cannot be replaced. read more

Customer service is a big part of owning your own buisness in my book. My fiance and I went in July 5th to fix the latch on a silver necklace. They said it would be done that weekend (3 days later). The owner got pneumonia, which I'm sorry to hear and I hope he feels better. I feel like they could have communicated to us a little more about tge status of thd necklace and explained the delays to us instead of us having to keep calling in. Every time we would call in they would give us a new date that it would be ready by. We called about 2 weeks later to see since he was still sick if we could take it somewhere else, they said it was in the safe and they could not get it until the owner came back, so we requested for them to give us a call when he was back in. Never got a call. So we were patient and gave it a few weeks. When called on August 2nd, they said they would have to order that part and it would be done Tuesday, August 8th, thats already more than a month from when they first got it. Well August 8th comes and goes we don't hear anything from them again so we call again two days after it was sippose to be done once again. So today August 10th I called the store a lady answered and told me she would check on the status, thats when David Horowitz came on the phone right away he was very rude he said how many times do you have to call the store I've already explained to your fiance that I had pneumonia and that I would get it done. In response to his very downgrading tone I asked if he could not speak down to me like that and that I would like the status as to when it will be done because it's been over a month and if it wasn't done by this weekend I would like to come in and pick it up. His response to that wasn't an apology for the delay or him trying to understand the situation he simply told me to come pick it up by the end of the day and that he wasn't going to fix it and that I could go somewhere else and wait another month somewhere else. So thats what I did. This necklace was my fiance's dad's who passed away a few years back and my fiance has been wearing it ever since. So him not having it for that month wasn't just no big deal it was a piece of his dad. I want to thank the lady outside of Mitchell's who recommended Leonardo's Jewelers they had it fixed in under 30 minutes and for half the price that Horowitz Jewelers was gonna charge me. I wish we known about Leonardo's Jewelers sooner and my advice to Horowitz Jewelers is to have a better communication system on the status or delays of items with their customers and a simple apology can go a long way.
