Looking for a kid friendly pet friendly winery with live music? This is the place to be. There are free range pet chickens. For wines, they have a very unique Vermentino that is worth trying and during summer their frose will cool you down. Service is customer friendly and family friendly. It's the best of both worlds for parents who want to drink and have kids with them.

The staff member behind the bar greeted us with a blank, deadpan stare (otherwise known as a "GenZ Stare") that made the whole interaction feel awkward from the start. When we mentioned it was our first time visiting and that we were excited to be there, there was no warmth, no enthusiasm, and no effort to tell us about the wines or the property. Even the pours seemed careless. I know this is Gilroy and not Napa, but I still expected a welcoming experience and better wine service. Unfortunately, both the service and the wine itself were disappointing. The best part of this place was definitely the beautiful grounds, which would make a gorgeous wedding setting. Maybe this place is better suited as an event venue than a wine tasting destination, but based on my experience, I would not return. The two stars are for the beautiful grounds.

When…read moreyou think of wine, you often think of heading to Napa or Paso Robles, but you'll never think that deep in the hills of Gilroy (borderline Morgan Hill), there's this small and beautiful vineyard. I haven't been to Italy but having seen it in movies, this place sure gives you the feels of having traveled that far for a glass of wine. It's a small vineyard with such an intimate and relaxing setting. The owners, Drew and Tiffany, are friendly, chill, and easygoing. Even though we've met them for the first time through a mutual friend, my husband and I felt comfortable talking to them as if we've known them for some time. They're very personable and well versed with their wines, and I love the stories behind some of the names for their wines. You'll also be greeted by their sweet and gentle black lab, Bear, who walks around saying hi to the guests. My husband and I both did the Estate Reds tasting as we love reds, especially Cabernets. I'm not a wine connoisseur at all, but I do like to enjoy a glass of wine here and there. The reds were delish, though I enjoyed The House (light) and Vino Nona (deep and bold) best. However, given another couple of years, I think Vino Nona would have an exceptional taste. And oh, you must try the Frozé (Frozen Rosé) or that I hope you get the chance as I heard they do run out of it fast. Such a yummy adult icee that is so refreshing with a good taste of the Rosé wine. I have 2 young boys, so I always love places that are kid and family friendly! This place is big enough for the boys to run and explore with areas for pictures and games. There's also a cute swing for anyone needing that nice picture to post. And one more thing, the portable bathroom is amazing! I'm never a fan of portable bathrooms, but this one is not a bit scary at all. It kinda reminds me of the bathroom on the airplanes but much nicer. Great escape for a few hours to enjoy with your significant other and/or with friends. Definitely nice place for small events. P.s. There is also a menu for light snacks, which I forgot to take a picture of.

The family style table with traditional butcher paper was casual and elegant at the same time, somehow. We made new friends with the couples around us, too. The crab boil was delicious, a twist on traditional southern style with yummy artichoke along with endless crab legs, sausage, corn and potatoes. The salad grazing table was artistic and chock full of locally sourced vegetables and fruits. California Inspirations always sources has the highest quality fresh ingredients, and it showed. The Shawn Yannis duo played such a broad ranges of genres, the perfect background to a casual and friendly vibe. They were a vibe. And can't forget the amazing wine! Our choice of a glass of wine was included, and we got another bottle between the 3 of us for dinner. And making friends meant we were invited to "help" them with the bottle of wine they didn't want to finish! Can't wait until next year!

The food was okay, but the crabs were quite small and the servings seemed limited. The ticket included only one small glass of wine, and any additional drinks had to be purchased separately. At $150 per person, I didn't feel the event provided good value for what was offered. While the entertainment was enjoyable, I personally would not attend again at that price point.

Lion Ranch specializes in Rhone and Provence varietal blends so expect unique blends of red and white wines along the lines of Viogner, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Mourvedre, Terret Noir, and more. All very clean, smooth, and tasty. MOST OF ALL - I liked that the wines had less sulfites (no more headaches for me!) There are 3 flight tasting options - white, red, and mixed (which includes a rose). All three are great options and value at 6 tasters for $20. If you choose to purchase a bottle they are all mostly around $26-45. I loved that this place allowed you to bring outside food as it was the perfect picnic spot but if you don't, they also have a mini fridge of charcuterie items to purchase. The winery itself is intimate, but with ample outdoor seating. A small babbling fountain, corn hole, and umbrellas for shade round out the ambiance. It was perfect for a lazy Saturday afternoon. Also thank you to Jen & Mike for making the tasting so special and fun! I loved their knowledge of the wines and hospitality. Highly recommend a visit with friends :)

I started my membership back, thought we'd utilize the wine tasting. First time back in over 6 months they did not bring us a menu, did not tell us what we were tasting and that was not a good feeling. On out third pour same day- fist day back we were accused of trying to get an extra pour Aaron asked what pour we were on, we didn't have a response because we didn't have the menu, we were accused of getting any extra pour? Not our responsibility to keep track, and if you did an extra pour what is the big deal? The comment made us feel uncomfortable, we stayed and purchased a bottle from their reserved red wine. This Saturday we went with another couple and my granddaughter. All was fine untill our third pour, we paid extra for the reserved tasting and it was a splash not a tasting pour. We discussed if we should say anything at all, and we decided to ask for a decent pour. My husband went in , talked to Aaron, he declined and dismissed us. Aaron said we had a decent pour, even though he was not around to see what was poured?? Typically a winery allows more than the 4 or 5 tasting, how else will you know if you like it enough to purchase a bottle. If a winery treats members that way it's time to end membership, and we did. Staff is like family at S V, we got the cold shoulder once my husband spoke with Aaron. We paid for our tasting, tipped our server. We will not revisit this establishment again. We had our choice of indoor and outdoor seating, and opted for the nice covered outdoor patio. They had a good amount of seating in each area, and had a lot of shade outside, which is absolutely necessary in Gilroy. The patio and grass area was very pretty, filled with lots of plants and even a sculpture. The property is also next to a plant nursery, so that added to the beauty even beyond their property line. We were helped by Melissa, and she was great! They had two tasting flights of 4 wines to choose from on our visit, one of which included a white and reds, while the other was all reds. They did also have some extra bottles open, so they were able to make an all white wine flight for one in our party. The pours were a good size, enough to really get a feel for the wine and share a taste with others. Two of us ended up taking home the same bottle of pinot noir.
