This was my third visit to this restaurant, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We made a reservation, arrived on time, and were seated. At that point, there were only two other small parties in the restaurant. We were initially seated directly next to a group that was clearly enjoying themselves and being somewhat lively. Since most of the restaurant was empty, we politely asked if we could sit elsewhere. We were moved to another small table, and then asked if we could have one of the empty booths instead. The server said he would check with the manager, but the manager declined, even though approximately 90% of the restaurant was empty. We then placed our order. My wife ordered the salmon, and I ordered the mussels, along with the beet and strawberry salad. When the salad arrived, my wife noticed there were no beets in it. We pointed this out to the server, who said he would speak with the manager. The manager eventually brought out a corrected salad. Shortly afterward, however, the server informed me that they were out of mussels. This was especially frustrating because the mussels were the main reason we chose this restaurant--we had enjoyed them on a previous visit and specifically came back for them. To make matters worse, about ten minutes later, two families with children were seated directly next to us, despite the restaurant still being largely empty. Given the abundance of available seating, it felt unnecessary and made the dining experience less enjoyable. I arrived a couple minutes early for my 7:15 pm outdoor reservation on a Saturday and was immediately sat by the kind hostess even though it seemed pretty busy. The waitstaff were extremely attentive and professional, I appreciated the checking in, and even boxing our leftovers for my friend and I. We ordered the Umami Fries to start, followed by two Miso Linguinis. Everything was absolutely amazing! I have not stopped thinking about that pasta. The restaurant is located in a busy area of Town & Country Village, but surprisingly it was one of the few places that wasn't packed when we visited. This place has a trendy, stylish atmosphere that feels perfect for date night, drinks with friends, or a nice night out. The space itself was probably my favorite part of the experience. The restaurant leans into an elevated New American menu and cocktail-bar vibe. As for the food... it was okay. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. I remember feeling like some of the dishes didn't taste as fresh as I was expecting, especially for the price point. The menu sounded more exciting than the actual food ended up being. The biggest thing I remember is that it just wasn't very memorable. When I think back on the meal, I remember the nice ambiance more than any specific dish. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but for the price, I was hoping for at least one "wow, I need to order that again" item. I got the Fried Chicken and Waffle with matcha butter + matcha syrup, and the waffle and fried chicken was delicious. My bf and I asked to sit outside to enjoy the perfect sunny weather. But that was probably a mistake because the service was so bad. After taking our appetizer order and giving us water, they forgot about us outside and didn't come to take our order for another 20 minutes. A lot of the servers inside kept staring at us through the glass but no one actually came out to help us or check in on us. After waiting so long to order, once we got our food the waitress set our food down on the edges of the table and didn't bother to place the food properly in front of us or rearrange the table. My appetizer was literally off the edge of the table and I had to move it to place it in the center myself. I don't know if I'm paying attention to little details, but Horsefeather looks like a nice restaurant to dine in and I would expect good quality service. After eating one meal for some time, our server was nowhere to be found and no one had come to check in on us if we needed anything. Then once more parties starting showing up then they remembered to come outside and ask us how the food was before attending to the new guests. For it to be really slow, almost dead inside I would have expected more attentive service. I will not be coming back here. Food was decent, I genuinely liked the miso linguine. I thought the miso butter was perfect and not too overpowering. I did have to pair it with a side of seared chicken which was actually really good and juicy. My friends and I did family style because we wanted to try multiple dishes. We usually order steaks medium rare because we rather have our steaks under than overcooked. I had their chicken sando with fries as takeout and their cheeseburger as eat in during lunch - both were pretty decent, though I'm knocking .5-1 star for the price and the speed of service (restaurant was 1/3 full) when I ate in. I understand it's PA and things are just more expensive here, and the burger and side salad were quite good, but it's still hard to justify $30 for a run-of-the-mill burger. Still, my server was fairly attentive and brought me a nice big carafe of water, which I really appreciated. I love going to Town & Country Village, so I was excited to try Horsefeather. I'll admit I was a bit wary at first after reading some of the reviews, but I'm glad I went. I was initially looking forward to trying their duck fat fries, but learned that they have converted to umami fries instead. The fries came with a curry ketchup which was fantastic. The quantity of fries was also a heaping amount! They were good, but I wish there was more of the umami dusting on the fries -- I do usually order my fries extra seasoned though so it's probably just a me-thing. My friend and I both got the double cheeseburger and agreed that it was delectable. It was everything you want in a craft burger; soft brioche bun, extremely flavorful + juicy chuck and brisket, smoky caramelized onions for that hint of sweetness, and a zesty sauce to bring everything together. Since the burger was so juicy, it was very messy to eat and I ended up having to eat part of it deconstructed, but to be fair I think this is normalized behavior when eating a burger like this. Service was good; we appreciated our server who was patient with us since we were busy yapping and weren't ready to order for awhile. It was one of those situations where when we were finally ready to order, it became hard to get their attention, but totally our fault to begin with. This was a tough one to rate. I really enjoyed my burger, and splitting a plate of fries and having a burger each would make for a fantastic meal. The fries were a huge serving, seasoned with a really umami blend of spices and served with a really nice curried ketchup dip. The burger was on a soft fresh brioche bun, both patties were crispy on the outside while just a bit pink (I asked for medium so done perfectly). Maybe sit at the bar... that'd be the move. What didn't go well.... First off water. Look, I get you're trying to sell bottled water, but giving us tiny glasses and a carafe of unfiltered tap tasting tap water at room temperature was not a great first impression. I was a little parched when we sat down and I was looking forward to a cold glass of ice water... and I get it, I'm picky about water and have an expensive reverse osmosis system for drinking water. But dang, this was a letdown - I'm so used to restaurants having at least filtered water that I was a little surprised how bleh the water was. And the Caesar salad. The dressing might have had a hint of anchovies, but it was heavily vinegared and lacked Parmesan cheese, romaine lettuce, or croutons. If I took away the expectation, the salad was ok, but I hate fennel, and I'm not a fan of radicchio when it is a main. To be fair, all of this was in the description but I expected the dressing to overpower? It was a 3/5 or maybe 4/5 salad, but it was a 0/5 Caesar salad. Wasn't horrible, but was not what I wanted when I ordered a Caesar salad. The poke bowl vaguely looked like poke. It did not taste like it - out of season hard mango, flavorless mushy tuna, and none of the savory or sweet flavors a poke bowl usually has. It had these huge chips that looked sort of like seaweed and shrimp chips, except they tasted like deep fried paper napkins. And the rice was overcooked, mooshy and halfway to congee, so was really off putting. Usually the staff is friendly and allows me to use the restroom, but the last time I went inside, the guy at the host stand looked me up and down before telling me the restrooms are for paying guests only. The ambiance felt a little weird coming in. Entering we already felt an odd mood from the staff. It didn't feel too warm. We didn't have a server check in on us for a while but we were helped by a friendly staff member taking over the section we were at. It felt odd because we wondered who our server was. We finally ordered our cocktails and entrees. We planned to share a salad, fried chicken and mussels. The drinks took a while to come and they apologized. The drink was delicious. I got the noche buena which actually tasted very similarly to their egg nog drink. Our foods came all at once and I kind of wish they brought the salad first then the other platters. We noticed they did the same for the other tables which is kind of awkward, especially when the table is small. I noted this to one of the staff and he asked me if I asked for it staggered and I said most restaurants usually do that or ask. He was pretty defensive and later said that maybe it was the dishwashers fault or the server taking the order. I don't know if it was sarcasm but that's not what I meant at all. I told him it was nobody's fault. Just a suggestion. I just called it out if they want to maybe ask folks next time since it can be overwhelming to customers too if your foods all come in at once. Plus the hot food can get cold. It was more of a constructive comment but it didn't deserve the comment of saying "oh it must be the dishwashers fault then". I felt the person was projecting. Maybe the staff are not treated well. I hope the staff in the back are treated with respect but it was an odd comment. Overall I felt the vibe was super weird. There was a weird atmosphere where people didn't seem genuinely happy to work there. The food was okay. I'd pass on the salad. The pieces of pear or stonefruit were big. The quinoa was unremarkable in it. The chicken was juicy but the flavor didn't stand out. I think some honey was put on top but maybe the flavor didn't come through. Same with the corn. I was expecting more flavor that was unique. We enjoyed the mussels and the bread. You can skip the coconut rice. I went with my kids and they loved the food: the street corn with the chicken was spicy and wish that was shared, especially since spice levels were discussed when ordering the umami fries. Well crap. I think I promised the staff I'd write a review and the months got away from me. Came in late fall, because this was a central location for the group to meet. Our friend put in a reservation on the same day, and we got in pretty quickly. We ended up doing more of a western-style where each of us got our own dish...but we still took a small bite of each others dish if we were interested. The best of all worlds. The cauliflower appetizer was solid, nothing to rave about. The risotto was really creamy and good. A solid choice Miso linguini was also great and is a staff favorite. I can tell why. The staff here were also attentive and friendly. We were well taken-care of, while not having them hover over us. Overall a great experience. read more

I got a sample of their Golden Hour drink! - Golden Hour -- got a sample of this drink: turmeric honey gin, amontillado, masala brandy, toasted coconut water cordial, lime, madras tincture, acid phosphate; not my usual type of cocktail since I tend to prefer simpler flavors, but this was still a unique and creative concoction with a complex flavor profile. The interior is clean and modern, accented with warm wooden tones and a stylish bar counter for cocktail seating. Great spot for a large party gathering! The servers were extremely attentive and friendly. The umami fries and double cheeseburger were a hit. My friends raved about the fried chicken & three dish as well. Simple yet hit all the marks. It's fairly easy to find parking in the lot.
