    Loco Moco

The place is always bustling with energy, creating that lively brunch atmosphere that makes you excited before your food even arrives. The Sizzling Stonepot was hands down my favorite, served piping hot, packed with flavor, and every bite was absolutely delicious. The Loco Moco was rich, savory, and perfectly satisfying with its comforting combination of beef, rice, egg, and gravy. And of course, you can never go wrong with their Dirty Ube Latte, the perfect balance of bold espresso and sweet, creamy ube that keeps me coming back. If you're looking for a vibrant brunch spot with incredible food and drinks, Sweet Maple Palo Alto is always worth the visit!

A long wait during brunch but you check in on their kiosk and they text you when your table is ready We ordered the candied bacon flight and got to try 4 different bacons. The fried chicken croissant waffle, the omelette with crispy potato's and fresh salsa, and ube latte Indoor and outdoor seating and the meal and vibes were enjoyable

We've been here a few times now and I appreciate that we have never waited more than 2 minutes to be seated with a reservation. I absolutley love the various plants and succulents that adorn the walls soaking up the light that comes in from the big windows. The service is consistently on point and the food presentation is always picture perfect. Portions are also good and the flavors are definitely there. This visit, we opted for the raspberry lemonade (yumm!), ahi salad and blueberry moffle. 10/10 all around! Will be back again, for sure!

Came here on a Saturday around 9:30 and it was already busy! We were seated right away as a party of two with a high chair, but the restaurant filled up quickly after we arrived. The service was great from start to finish. Everyone was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. The food did take a little while to come out though. We ordered the chicken wings, chicken croffle, and blueberry moffle. The chicken croffle was easily the star of the meal! The croffle was crispy, buttery, and full of flavor, while the chicken was nice and juicy. The chicken wings were also delicious, and we really liked the rice cakes that came with them. The blueberry moffle was our least favorite, but it was still good. I just wish it came with a side. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

One of my favorite spots for brunch in the Bay! I stopped by with some friends to catch up over brunch. Service was quick and friendly and the restaurant's atmosphere is bright and comfy. It's definitely on the pricier side but when I've been the food has been consistently tasty and fresh. What we tried: - Millionare's bacon sampler patter - comes with the original, citron, cinnamon, and rosemary flavors. This was my first time actually trying their millionare's bacon, which is a thick cut bacon coated in a sweet and mildly spicy glaze. Definitely a fun dish to share and sample - Tornado galbi omurice - soft scrambled egg over veggie fried rice, galbi, and demi-glace. Overall a solid dish, the egg is cooked to such a soft and silky texture and the galbi was so good - wish they were a bit more generous with the galbi portion size - Big hip - deep fried French toast topped with butter and fruits. My first time trying this dish as well and I really enjoyed the texture of the French toast - hearty but not overly heavy. It's quite a large portion size so great for sharing Parking: street parking or in the nearby public lots

Everything was really good! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was nice, and the service was great. Overall, we had a really good experience and would definitely come back!

Visited on a Saturday morning and the place was packed! Waited a short while in line at 11 am, but didn't see an empty table anywhere through the time we dined Great service from the staff and nice ambiance - there's a surprising amount of tables inside. Food was decent, but looked a lot more delicious than it tasted. Corn and French toast were good, but the other fusion foods were just ok especially for the price. Portions were great though!

Sweet Maple is just around the corner from me! They seem to specialize on giving an Asian-inspired twist on classic American breakfast food and are ALWAYS packed. I came here for brunch with some friends. They do an annoying thing where they won't take reservations (first come, first served) and won't seat your party until EVERYONE is present. I felt bad for being a few minutes late and my friends had to sit outside because the restaurant would not seat them! I get they want to maximize profits, but if 2/3rds of the party is there, I don't get the point of not seating them. It's just not good customer service, in my opinion. In terms of the food, it is VERY rich. Delicious, but rich. The kind of rich where you won't be hungry for a solid 5-8 hours afterwards! For my drink, I got the Ube Latte--very comforting! It's bright purple but tastes like sweet milk! For my main dish, I upgraded it "For a complete meal" where I got the Marinier (French toast) and the Millionaire's Bacon. All very decadent and rich! My friend got the Matcha Moffle and also liked it. Overall, this place does creative Asian twists on brunch and does it well. It is VERY popular....almost too congested. (So they're a victim of their own success). I am deducting one star for not seating us when a majority of the party was there and for the overall congested, busy energy...it just makes the experience a bit harried and loud (you actually have to raise your voice to talk to your friends given the general volume from all the people), as opposed to relaxing. Total for all our meals (for 3 people) with drinks and tip came out to $138.20--(so expect to pay around $40-$50 for a brunch with a drink here!)

Spinach and cheese scramble (super fresh eggs) - LOVE the brussel sprout and potato side. Wow!

Food was hot and very fresh. The eggs were especially fresh and delicious. Service was friendly and plentiful. Casual and every table was filled with a line out the door. Thank you, will definitely be back again and again. Very attractive clientele

New obsession! Croffle and fried chicken. The idea of waffle and chicken , but croffle ... crossant, waffle and fried chicken is to die for. When we first put our name, we were the 50th.... it took about 45 min to go from 50th to be seated. Not bad, we walked around the block, checked out stores and walah!

We didn't need a reservation here. Walked right in for brunch and were seated as a party of two. Staff were nice and attentive. The place is clean and spacious. They seem busy but we had zero complaints with service. Food came out quickly and it was so fresh. Our entire experience was about 1h (knowing this as we received a message from the street parking meter) and we did not feel rushed once. They were just on top of things. Freshly squeezed orange juice, can't go wrong. I had an order of scrambled eggs and potatoes with a side of fried chicken. The eggs were nice and fluffy. At first glance, we thought our toast would be a piece of brick but it was surprisingly warm, soft, and delicious. Wish we had more. The wings were pretty tasty as well. I ended up packing the rest of the wings to go as a snack for our mini road trip. Overall good brunch spot.

The food, service, and atmosphere are all wonderful! We had an incredible experience from start to finish and will definitely be back. You will not be disappointed!

Quaint little nook with Asian inspired breakfast. A lot of tasty options here and the bacon is a must! Gives a different take on bacon. Loved their Ube Lattes, Benedicts, and Skilets. Potatoes were crispy and cooked to perfection. It is a little pricey. Although the food was good, I thought it was overpriced for what we got. The service was also a little slow. It was crowded when we went, so possibly just backed up. But I had to personally ask for refills on my water and wanted to order another coffee, but they hadn't come back to our table for 20 min after our food was out. Again, I do say they get busy. Also we were near the door during a windy day. We asked if we could close it because it was cold and they denied our request.

    Sweet Maple Scramble. Delicious!

Ask the Community - Sweet Maple

    Do they accept reservations?

    No, wait list on site

Hi, is there any vegan friendly option in the menu?

Yes, there are several vegan options and plates that can be modified to vegan. I googled it but the answer is too long!!…

Do they still serve gluten-free waffles or gluten-free pancakes?

    They do moffle gluten free.

Is sweet maple no longer open for dinner time?

I know for sure that the Palo Alto location is no longer open for dinner. I have a feeling that this is the same for all the other locations. The waiter said that they can't seem to put together a dinner menu that is "consistent with their theme."…

Dairy allergy here. Does the chicken and waffles have dairy in it? Like milk or butter?

    Does this place allow reservations?

Sweet Maple is walk-in ONLY, at least that's been my experience and what's listed on their website. I've typically been seated for parties of 2 or 4 without too long of a wait. Depending on the day and if you have a large party, you can contact them…

How do i make a reservation?

    In person only

Is there yelp wait ahead list still? Used to have it when they first opened....

I don't think so as I tried to join the wait ahead list the other day and it wasn't available sadly.

    Is there online reservation?

No online reservation for the Palo Alto site.

    Are the dog friendly?

Their features section says dogs allowed! Indoor/outdoor seating as well.

Until what time do they serve breakfast?

They serve breakfast until 2:30pm when they close for a break before dinner.

    Do you guys take reservations?

They do it for dinner- not for breakfast.

    Are the moffles gluten free?

Is the restaurant (small) dog friendly?

What's the usual wait time to get seated for brunch on a Sunday?

One hour and 40 minutes usually between an hour to a two

    What's the dinner menu? Thanks!

Would be too much to type here, but a few people uploaded pictures of the dinner menu. Look at the upper right hand corner of Sweet Maple's yelp page, click "See All Pictures" or "See 739 Photos" -> Menu -> Look for pictures of dinner menu.

    Is it nut allergy safe?

There were walnuts with the chicken and waffles.

What is the outside seating like? Can you hear people to have a conversation?

I went on a Saturday around 1:30. We sat out front and we were not close to hear other's conversations and we could easily hear people at our table. We had shade, but some of the tables did not have an umbrella and they got very hot and wanted to…

    Are there any vegan options?

Is it crazy busy on weekends...if I just want to get a drink to go?

I went at 11am on a Saturday and the wait was 1.5 hours long. If you show up later the wait could be 2+ hours. The best time to go is before 9am so you don't have to wait that long

And then somehow ordering them AGAIN. At some point I think the fries just became part of the family. We also tried the deviled eggs with tobiko, which were SO good! But let's talk about the drinks because this is where things got dangerous. Our server Sam was AMAZING. He was attentive without hovering, knew the menu, and gave us recommendations that were genuinely spot-on. We trusted him completely by the end of the meal, which is how we ended up trying several cocktails. My favorite was the Low rider because I'm a mezcal girly and the espresso martini was especially good definitely one of the better ones I've had. I loved the different ingredients they use, including Ola Coffee, which gave it something a little different. And then Sam recommended the whiskey butter cake. That cake was the perfect ending. Every recommendation he gave us was a hit, so at this point I would probably let Sam plan my entire brunch menu. We had such a fun family brunch and genuinely left talking about how much we enjoyed everything. Great food, great cocktails, great service, and a staff member who clearly knows how to make people have a good time. The ambiance was also such a vibe. The interior is really cute and we got seated in a booth, which made it feel extra cozy and perfect for hanging out and enjoying brunch. I could totally see this being a great spot for family brunch, drinks with friends, or even a cute date. Definitely a family style dinner, order multiple things to try! Made a reservation couple weeks in advance for a week night dinner for 2. Celebrated our anniversary and couldn't be more happy we came to Ethel's Fancy. Service was great, everyone was friendly and explained the menu and process. Helped making some personal recommendations and the food came out quickly. The only dish that came out very slowly was the dessert, we did wait about 25 - 30 minutes just for the softserve, but all other dishes came out in a moderate time. Rouge de Bordeaux Milk Bread, comes with cultured amazake butter and some salt. Comes out super warm, puffy, and soft. Very nice pull and the butter is super decadent. Very great take on a japanese shokupan, we were hesitant at first, but it makes for a good appetizer 5:5 Warm Sesame Pancakes were like those mini sesame mochi pancakes at chinese dim sum, but the texture was slightly airy. The sauce to accompany it was unlike anything i've had, smoked trout, avocado and yuzu. The avocado was not over powering and the cream on top was whipped. Amazing pairing. 5/5 Sashimi of Kanpachi, japanese cucumber salad as the base and dressing with the kanpachi sashimi. I will say this was the weakest dish of the night. While still good, it was a bit too tart, it overpowered the other natural flavors. Fish was still very good, tender and not fishy, but again, over powered but all the tartness in the dish. 3/5 Yellowfin Tuna on sushi rice - this was a great shareable plate of upscale poke. The tuna was great, no fishy taste, perfectly seasoned and the smoked kira had an amazing pop of flavor. Very rich and decadent dish, absolutely loved the harmony of a slight smokey flavor to the nice rich, umami savoriness. 5/5 Crispy Caledonian Prawns - Absolute star of the night. We could not stop talking about these prawns. Big plump prawns, fried perfectly, where the prawn itself was not dry but the shell had a shatteringly crispy exterior definitely slightly coated with a starch to give it a nice crunch. The chili ramp sunomono was a great touch, not spicy at all but added a great touch of flavor that complimented the crispy prawns. Could devour plates of these! 6/5! Sword-Fish Katsu Style - A great take with sword fish, flakey but not overcooked, great thin crispy katsu. Accompanied by kumquat and cauliflower, helps cut down the greasiness. The sauce with it was a buttery tart sauce. This was a lot better where the tartness helped the fried fish. It was like eating a fried fish burger without the buns. I really enjoyed this one. 5/5 Lastly we ordered a softserve with peaches, shokupan croutons and a caramel dressing. We had to wait about 25 minutes just for the small softserve so we were a bit surprised as other dishes came out relatively quickly or in an orderly fashion. It still tasted great as a little small dessert but definitely was surprised by how long it took. 3/5 Overall, we were very happy with our experience at Ethel's and it definitely lives up to the standard it sets. I can't wait for other new dishes to try and come back in the future.

They were huge with fresh whipped cream and a biscoff sauce. There was also maple syrup. The combo was out of the world and would definitely recommend one to get this when visiting! We were able to split this so everyone in our table was able to enjoy. Overall, really good experience here with fresh food and nice vibes. Would definitely go back again!

Not a terrible brunch spot, definitely worth the visit! But I did have some concerns…read more We ordered a special churro dalgona coffee, 5minutes of Heaven Shake, the OMG sandwich, and a half stack of the cookie butter pancakes! The food was very good to say the least, this amount of food was perfect for us. Though not too much of an issue (if this is the case) but the pancakes to me taste very very very similar to pancakes made with the Krusteaz brand pancake mix, I only say this because I had pancakes that used that specific brand's mix not too long before eating here. Regardless, the food was very delicious. For me and my girlfriend, the drinks were OKAY at best. To me, the coffee didn't have much "churro" taste in there besides the little churro treat that was added in the drink as a topping. The 5 minutes of Heaven shake threw us off a little because we weren't expecting the drink to be almost room temperature, we would have liked it to be cold like how our coffee was! Overall not too bad of a visit, definitely would come back if I'm ever in the Palo Alto area again.

A poultry restaurant with more fish than poultry. Ended up being good but nothing to write home…read moreabout. Apparently the restaurant sources nearly all of their ingredients very locally I overheard a waiter tell that to a different table though not ours which would be a great thing to hear. heritage ham - Really weird for $22 it was served like prosciutto and just the ham alone again is a bit weird just a sauce or some melon could have made this really good. farfallone d'estate - Great the best thing of the meal the smokey tomato taste was great, and the pasta was great too. smoked wolfe ranch quail milanese - Rather good, the corn was especially good and very rich. The quail was nice. grilled short rib a la caesar - Everything was good. california golden chicken basquaise - Was good. paris-brest - The dessert was very good for most of it though 1/4 of the pastry was extremely salty from too much salted caramel. Online the restaurant talks about being a bird focused restaurant but that dosen't seem to be true. One of the people dining with me said to a waiter they were expecting more chicken and they were told there was poultry, but there is 3 poultry related items with 4 fish ones. So this restaurant is actually a fish restaurant? We were told that everything is meant to share though it really didnt feel like it. A lot of the dishes felt like they could have been for one person. The waiter as well was just okay for most of the night. The ambiance of the place is very nice and well decorated. Ultimately once they actually get more poultry on the menu, and just tighten up I would probably come back.

This place popped up, and once we parked, we realized it was right by the farmers market... so clearly we had made the right choice. We got there right when they opened, so no wait, and grabbed a table inside near their very pretty bar. I had already stalked the menu a bit and had my order figured out for both of us: pistachio pancakes and the chicken mole breakfast tacos. And honestly, both were excellent and exactly what we needed after a wedding the night before involving a few (too many?) cocktails. The pistachio pancakes were delicious, but DO NOT skip the syrupp. I'm pretty sure there's cardamom in it, and whatever they're doing, it takes the pancakes to another level. And the chicken mole breakfast tacos? I've never actually seen mole incorporated into a breakfast taco before, but it totally works. A little unusual, very flavorful, and definitely not your standard breakfast taco. Hubby also wants to add that the coffee was very good!

Because of timing for other errands we came at 10:30 am and they were open on time and ready. Sitting outside or inside is amazing, outside you get the crowd and the sun. Inside you get amazing interior design. My overall feedback is this is one of the rare "fancy" Mexican places that justify the price and justification. Everything is above average in taste and execution. Brunch Tacos mole: chicken mole poblano, scrambled eggs, huitlacoche, tortillas, epazote crema, fried shallots & avocado. Perfect portioning and the salad that came with it had a fantastic dressing. I pulled some chicken out and gave it to my wife and then it was perfect, a bit too overstuff before. The mole and overall taste were quite good though. Chilaquiles: tortilla chips sautéed in chile de árbol-guajillo salsa, topped with queso fresco, cilantro crema, and an egg. My wife loved this so much it made her question every time she didn't order it before. Fried egg sandwich: two over easy eggs on house baked brioche bun, chipotle aioli, avocado, bacon, cheddar cheese, fried shallot. Kids loved this and happily ate the leftover after. Iced Mexican Cafe: delicious iced coffee with a distinct Mexican taste. Distrito Verde: mezcal, basil, lemon, and falernum. Simple but refreshing brunch cocktail, really paired well with the mole tacos. Chips and salsa: These are not free but worth the price. Both the chips and the 2 salsa are of extremely good quality and preparation. Abnormally tasty and the kids went crazy eating it.

The God answered my prayers!…read more This place is a Caribbean food gem! I've been looking for some good jerk oxtail, and apparently the Lord heard my prayers because this hit the spot. Everything is freshly made, the portions are generous, and the meat is packed with flavor. The oxtail was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the jerk pork was ridiculously juicy and flavorful. I also tried the jerk chicken and NY strip. The chicken actually stole the show--the steak was good, but the jerk chicken had that extra something that made me keep going back for another bite. And of course, the coconut rice and plantains were the perfect companions to all that rich, savory goodness. My only wish? Give me something fresh and refreshing on the side! A little salad, slaw, or something with some acidity would balance out all that richness beautifully. Overall, though, everything was delicious, portions were big, and my Caribbean food cravings have officially been satisfied. Definitely coming back!

I came back after many years and also tried the San Jose location. Back A Yard is a good introduction for people who are new to Jamaican food or want something familiar. It's not quite like authentic Jamaican food cooked at home, where you get more of those bold spices and seasonings, but I understand they're cooking for the masses. Overall, the food is decent, the service is always good, and the portions are okay. Definitely not a bad choice when you're craving Jamaican food.

Anniversary dinner!…read more Wife and I enjoyed exploring the gallery and getting ideas until it was dinner time. I had made a reservation online. Super easy process, had no issues. Mentioned in the reservation that it was our anniversary, what wine was our preference and nice seating - whatever that may be heheh. My only problem is that they ask for this information and yet it felt like they didn't proactively, beforehand, do anything with it. Oh well. Beyond that, Philip was a star, great host. Very attentive and timely. Took pictures when we requested and was just overall delightful I guess to be expected, but all portions were very small (reference pictures for more detail). But although small, they all had BIG flavor! Every single bite was savored and enjoyed.

A bit over hyped !…read more The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. The ambiance, decor, and overall atmosphere were definitely the highlight of our experience--it's a very lovely place with a sophisticated and inviting feel. We visited to celebrate my birthday, and while our server was friendly, I felt the service lacked attentiveness throughout our visit. When we were seated, we were asked again what the occasion was, so we were expecting perhaps a small birthday gesture or acknowledgment. Unfortunately, nothing was done for my birthday, while we noticed the table next to us received a nice birthday gesture. It was a little disappointing, especially since the occasion had been specifically mentioned. As for the food, there were definitely some hits and misses. My mom ordered the chicken sandwich, but the bread was extremely over-toasted. When I took a bite, it was so hard and sharp that it actually cut my gums, which was definitely not something we expected. On the positive side, the salmon and truffle fries were delicious and probably the best part of our meal. However, while they were good, I wouldn't say the food overall was quite at a 5-star level. Overall, I think this restaurant has a lot of potential. The setting is gorgeous and the ambiance is beautiful, and our server was kind, but the lack of attentiveness and some issues with the food made the experience feel more like a 3-star visit for us. I would consider coming back, but I would hope for a more attentive experience and better attention to the small details next time.

Love to try out new steakhouses when I get the chance and Labor Day was the perfect chance to try…read moresomething new. [[ Parking ]] I personally think parking is pretty difficult in general in the downtown Palo Alto Area. It's near an indoor parking area (first 2 floors are non-permit parking), outside parking lot, and lots of street parking. However, when we went almost everything was full. I luckily one open street parking spot and luckily my car is super compact and I was able to squeeze in. I probably would be more stressed if I were driving a large SUV or large sedan. [[ Restaurant / Service ]] I thought the restaurant was pretty beautiful inside and in a good location (corner side). They have plenty of seats that look outside and also a ton of indoor seating in case you want more privacy. - One con was that we were seating in a I guess a "bad booth"? It was in the corner and the padding seemed to have sunken in so I had pretty bad support the whole meal. I got use to at the end but next time I'll just choose a chair. Service was really good. Our server checked in frequently, filled our waters, and was relatively attentive. No complaints here. [[ Food ]] I thought the presentation was beautiful for each dish and there was some standout things: 1.) The complimentary bread had delicious butter and mint/cilantro sauce(?) Not 100% sure but it tasted really good. Unlimited bread too as we gobbled up the first round pretty quickly. 2.) If you get a steak (which I hope you do), I love the little flamethrower presentation when they melt the butter on top of your steak. I thought that was a nice "wow" touch for the dining experience. 3.) I really enjoyed the crab cakes and thought the balance of taste and cook was on the spot and gave a really strong start to the rest of the meal. The okay things: 1.) Surprisingly the steaks were just okay in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, they taste good but I wasn't blown away by either the filet mignon or the dry-aged rib eye. It's solid steaks but nothing too memorable. 2.) The sides in my opinion were a let down. The Mac & Cheese was SOO watery. I took a picture of how much liquid was after getting through the top layer. I wish it was more melted/gooey-ness cheese rather than the watery consistency. The truffle fries were alright but my wife wish it had more truffle taste. [[ Conclusion ]] Great business place to get food as well as a nice dine-out experience. It's a solid place.
