I've been a big fan of The Breakfast Club's San Jose location on San Carlos Street for a while, but I actually had no idea they'd expanded into several other locations across the Bay Area! I was venturing into Mountain View the other day when I randomly spotted this location and decided to stop by. Based on the decor, I'm guessing this is one of their newer spots. Personally, when it comes to breakfast, I tend to prefer a more traditional, old-school diner vibe. Just classic, good old omelets and pancakes in a cozy setting. I'll take that comfort any day over those overly glamorous, trendy, Instagram-worthy spots that serve tiny portions and leave you walking out hungry. The Mountain View decor definitely leans more toward that trendy side, which honestly makes sense given the demographic and the sheer number of gyms and yoga studios right next door! However, I was super happy to find that the food itself remains excellent. It still delivers that comforting, homey feeling and generous quality I look for, so huge kudos to them on keeping the food legit. Our server (didn't catch his name) was also fantastic and took great care of us throughout the meal. Overall, it was a great experience. Even though the modern decor isn't my personal preference, it's a beautiful shop, and the food and service easily warrant 5 stars. Amazing spot for brunch. Super cool interiors, trendy and modern, definitely one of the better looking brunch spots in Mountain View. Crab cake Benedict and tiramisu pancakes were my absolute favorites, both stood out. California French toast is next level too, loaded with so many fresh fruits it's basically dessert. Everything on the menu felt like it had some kind of twist to it, not your typical brunch spot. Portions were generous and everything came out fresh. Service can be better and faster though, a bit of a wait for a weekend brunch spot, but the food more than made up for it. I've now come here twice. I first came here on a Sunday around 10:30. Parking is always a bit tricky but if you drive a bit, there are a few different other spots to park in, including a garage. We had about a 35 minute wait for a table. I got drip coffee and breakfast nachos without the chorizo. Service wasn't the best, I kept repeatedly getting offered coffee but we were unable to get water refills despite asking multiple times. The second time I came was on a Friday mid morning and it was much less busy, no wait for a table, but the service was still lacking. This time, we had two waters dropped off but our coffee order was completely wrong, we had to wait about 20 mins just to order, food came out about 15 mins apart (only 2 dishes) and one of our sides never came. Then we discovered the bill was wrong at the end and we were over charged. The food is ok, not as good as the San Jose location and with the service, I'm not sure I'll be back. The Breakfast Club at Midtown in Palo Alto is an absolute must try! I love a good eggs benedict, and the eggs benedict that I ordered exceeded my expectations. I ordered the Midtown Duo since it offered the best of two worlds. One side was crabcake benedict, and the other was steak and shrimp. There was an up-charge for the steak and shrimp, but absolutely totally worth it! The crabcake benedict was delectable. The crabcake was nicely crisp on the exterior, and so incredibly flavorful. It's everything you want from a crabcake. It was so delicious. I could eat this every day. The hollandaise sauce was made perfectly, and it pulled together the flavor of the crabcake, and the lightly toasted English muffin for the perfect bite. The steak and shrimp were mouthwatering. Both super tasty and properly prepared. Did I mention how delicious the hollandaise was?! Over the steak and shrimp, it definitely was setting me up for food coma, but in the best possible way! The eggs Benedict came with hashbrowns that were prepared the way you'd expect to find them in a diner. Perfectly salted, crispy, and definitely worth eating. I originally was planning on ordering a soft drink to go with my meal, but ended up grabbing a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was underwhelming. I definitely should have ordered the soft drink. Victor is the reason this review starts with five stars. The food was good, but the service is what we'll remember. Victor was friendly from the moment we sat down, and the rest of the team was just as attentive. Someone was always stopping by to top off our coffee or check if we needed anything, without it ever feeling like too much. The restaurant has a relaxed neighborhood feel, surrounded by yoga studios, gyms, and other wellness spots. It fits the area perfectly. I ordered the Trio with the Cookie Butter, Peach Cobbler, and Tiramisu pancakes. They looked even better than they tasted, which isn't a bad thing - the presentation was beautiful, and the pancakes were still enjoyable. My breakfast companion ordered the Santa Cruz skillet with grilled salmon and cleaned his plate. We'll definitely be back. Easily my favorite breakfast spot. Original location in SJ on San Carlos had terrible parking. Only went once, must have been 10 years ago by now. This location is in a very nice plaza next to all kinds of other restaurants and shops. Parking is plentiful and free, whether private street parking right in front of it, or tons of huge parking garages surrounding it. The place and food are all very chique and delicious. Lots of instagram-able entrees that look incredible and taste as such, too. They also have Pepper Plant hot sauce which is one of my favorites. The place has a really nice vibe, and everyone working there was friendly. I got a regular coffee and the turkey sandwich. Sadly, the sandwich just wasn't for me. Everything kept falling out, so I ended up eating it with a knife and fork. The turkey also didn't seem fully cooked. I wasn't that hungry, so I didn't say anything. On the other hand, the homemade hash browns were probably the best I've ever had. My friend got the gluten-free pancakes, and they looked amazing. The coffee was really good too. Expectations were very much higher but hey you wont know until you give it a shot. Place itself looks really nice inside and out. Was seated for breakfast on a Friday and tables were quite full. Server came and took our order but what confused me was the menu not stating what the omelettes come with for sides unless I missed it. Latte was very bland and not sweet when I initially asked our server if it was. Ordered the chicken sausage omelette and although the portion size can be shared between two people, it was very mediocre at its best. I would expect the taste to be a little better but it wasnt. The hashbrown were just awful and so oily didnt even finish eating it. Our server wasn't really attentive and checked in once and i had to flag him down for to go boxes and receipt. Not to mention I asked for whole wheat toast twice and he brought me sourdough. Would I recommend this place? Probably not, the other reviews speak the same as the food is very plain, nothing special about them. You definitely have better options nearby like Good Morning Cafe that offers quality. read more

The wait is insane during the weekend. We got here at 11:15 on Sunday and had to wait for 1:15. We probably wouldn't come had we known the wait is so long. The breakfast club is a classic. We've been here so many times. Our go-tos are the Korean style chicken waffle (honestly I found the waffle too dry but the Korean spicy sauce makes up to it and the midtown trio. The pancakes are really good and what they are known for probably. Their French toast is always too dry at all three locations we've been (MTV, SJ, and Campbell). Our surprise find this time was the Carnitas Benedict, it's got a good balance in flavor: tasty and not too much that you get sick of it after one bene. Survive and vibe were ok. Not bad overall. The customer service is friendly and the food is generally good, but there are several minor improvements that could be made to elevate the service and experience. The host area is quite small and too close to the door. It's a bit of a squeeze to get in, wait in line, and get back out. You have to walk by the busy kitchen to get to the bathroom, and I know that this is not uncommon, but this particular setup feels like there's an accident waiting to happen. I ordered a veggie hash, which according to the website, comes with avocado, but not in reality. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my dish came with toast or coffee cake, but they forgot about it, so I asked to bring the coffee cake home. When I got home, I was disappointed to find a small slice compared to what I had seen other people getting served, but I guess it worked out because it was a bit dry and the taste was "meh ." The raspberry cream cheese french toast was good but way too sweet! When one of the servers was removing a plate, he dropped a dirty fork in my lap and retreived it. Accidents happen, but next time, let the customer retrieve it if it's in their lap! I liked that the friendly manager was helping out and that the servers were kind and had good hustle. Came here for brunch on Thursday with my husband. Parking was easy in a nearby parking garage. Hadn't been to other The Breakfast Club locations, but this location was huge, and a bit more upscale than your usual mom-and-pop brunch places. Inside, they had a bar near the entrance, booths against the opposite wall, banquette seating along the back wall, high tables near the front, and plenty of regular tables in the middle. They had an outdoor patio as well. They weren't too busy around 9am on a weekday, and we're able to get the last booth. Service was friendly, and our food came out really quickly. I had Earl Grey tea and a Farm House Omelette with herb potatoes and wheat toasts. It was well prepared, even though nothing really stood out. Toasts could have been toasted for a little longer. The slice of orange was dry, maybe it's more of a decoration. Not a big deal. The omelette was a bit on the bland side, but they had plenty of condiments at the table to compensate that. Portion size was good. I was really stuffed after finishing everything. Our coffee and tea were refilled promptly. Overall, it's a really solid brunch place. I liked that the environment was relaxing and comfortable, and their menu was pretty extensive. From the moment we entered and were greeted warmly by Sara to the time our server Sandy came around with the check, we felt like we were dining in someone's home. Scott came and checked in on us periodically as well and we only had good things to say. I got an avocado toast with a side of herbed potatoes (as recommended by Sandy) and my daughter got the banana pecan coconut waffle with caramel sauce and a side of bacon. The poached egg on the avocado was absolute perfection and the herbed potatoes complemented it well. My daughter's waffle was crispy on the sides and soft inside. There is limited parking at the front and more in the parking structure. Its a new spacious contemporary table, booth and bar setup. Service was excellent. The music was not very loud featuring 80's-90's pop and soft rock. There are two TV screens at the small bar but are obscured by the light fixtures. I had the Loco Moco with a medium rare patty. It was the best I've had, the patty was huge, a little salty covered with two sunny side up eggs with a rich mushroom gravy over slightly sticky rice. The macaroni salad had a light dressing and the Kimchi wasn't that spicy. Very upscale Cafe 100. The breakfast menu is extensive with lots of dishes I'd like to try in the future. I was so excited to see The Breakfast Club open in Mountain View since my friend and I love trying new breakfast places in that area. It was a little tricky to find at first, but that was probably more on me--I expected it to be among the other restaurants and shops, but it's actually tucked between the apartment buildings. Just a little FYI for first-timers. We went during opening week, and since this franchise has become one of my favorite breakfast spots, I was especially excited to check it out. The inside felt even more upscale than the San Jose and Campbell locations. They had balloons out front, and the whole place had such a fancy, elevated vibe for a breakfast restaurant. We were seated in a cozy corner booth and greeted right away. I could tell our server was new because he had to check on whether I could swap ingredients in my omelette, but he recovered quickly, was very kind, and made sure everything was handled well. The food was just as delicious as always, which is exactly what I was hoping for. What really stood out was the overall experience. The manager came by to check on us and actually took the time to engage in conversation instead of just doing a quick walk-by. She stood in front of us with a blank stare and asked if she could help or if we needed anything and scoffed under her breath after her sentence. We told her we checked in with the other waitress and then she showed us to our table. We ordered espresso martinis, the loco moco, carnitas Benedict and the mixed plate Benedict with the Californian and the carnitas. I asked for my hash browns to be extra crispy. The food came out fairly quickly, but our drinks came out roughly 5 minutes after we started eating. The hash browns were not done extra crispy, but this wasn't a deal breaker for me. The carnitas Benedict was really good and I added the house chipotle hot sauce to my dish. My wife said her Californian Benedict was ok but really enjoyed the carnitas. My friend said the loco moco was solid but needed more gravy. Overall, this was a very solid brunch spot with a great ambiance, so I'd come back here again. read more

On a return visit, while the service was wonderful, I discovered the food was not. I brought home leftovers and placed it in the frig for the next morning. Let me start by saying the food was good. However, I'm giving this place three stars because the service wasn't great. First, we were a party of four, but the host took us to a table set for three--only three chairs and three sets of utensils. She left us standing there and proceeded to seat two other parties while we waited for another chair. We eventually had to ask for one, and she asked us to help lift it over other guests to bring it to our table. They don't offer iced coffee, but instead of informing us, they poured hot coffee over ice and served us a watered-down, lukewarm drink. The server was also rude during the ordering process. Both our table and the table next to us had to ask for toast because it didn't come out with our meals. When it finally arrived, it wasn't even toasted, and we only received one plate with two slices, even though three of us had ordered toast. We also ordered a pancake, but it never arrived, so we ended up removing it from the bill. I'm hoping the service improves because the food itself tasted great. Lastly, they seated a woman inside the dining room with her dog. I love pets and have pets myself, but they don't belong inside a restaurant dining area--especially when outdoor seating is available. I'm not an expert, but I would assume that's a health code violation. read more
