We were…read moreinvited to a party nearby, so we were just looking for a nice place to stay close by that we could hopefully relax and enjoy while visiting friends in the area... Well we got so much more than we expected! Everything about this place is just stunning, the historic house, the meticulous gardens, the gorgeous Victorian gazebo, the private sandy beach, all of the spa-like amenities, the list goes on and on! We stayed in the Tower Room, which had a very comfortable bed and a convenient half bathroom. The main shared bathroom was well equipped with a multi-head shower, jacuzzi tub, and steam room! There is a beautiful roof deck with comfy outdoor furniture and a perfect view of the grounds and lake. We took the pedal boat out to the lake and swam in the crystal clear water! We lounged on the sandy beach and relaxed in the in-ground hot tub overlooking the lake! The breakfast was home-made by our amazing hosts, Roy and Claudette, and was delicious both days. After learning about my gluten allergy on the first morning, Roy specially prepared gluten-free Belgian waffles for us on the second morning! They were absolutely delicious and I was so overjoyed that they went out of their way to make a special breakfast for me! The house was immaculate and we had everything we needed and more. We booked this B&B as a convenience, however we ended up with a totally rejuvenating experience. We were able to relax, refresh, and reconnect. In the future, Chateau du Lac will be a weekend getaway destination for us! I really cannot recommend it highly enough. Roy and Claudette were unbelievable hosts and I very much hope to be back to visit them and their wonderful bed and breakfast very soon!

When people have asked "How was your wedding?" My answer has been, "More beautiful than I could…read morehave ever imagined!" and that's thanks to Wendy and the Phineas Wright House. Seriously. If you're considering an event here, book it now and you won't be disappointed. First off, the property is stunning. The house has beautiful rooms to get ready in with great light; the facade of the house makes for beautiful photos; the barn is iconic and warm; the gardens were stunning in full bloom; there are fences and paths through the woods galore. We had our ceremony at the top of a hill overlooking a scenic New England field and pond. The reception was in a beautiful field under a big tree for shade. And for those worried about unsteady grandparents, there were easy ways to help them get around. Everything was beautiful, a real classic New England farm. Then, the decorations! Every small detail was perfect. All of the flowers were fresh from Wendy's garden and the arrangements were PERFECT. The signage and table settings were gorgeous and involved freshly stripped bark with calligraphied names of all of our guests. There were blankets on the back of all of the chairs for when it got chillier at night! Seriously, Wendy thought of everything. And last, but certainly not least, Wendy! You couldn't ask for a better planner, friend, and kind soul. She has been a wedding planner for decades and now she and her husband run the Phineas Wright House. I didn't stress once on the day of the wedding because I knew Wendy had it all under control. From the moment my husband and I started planning the wedding, she was alongside us supporting and cheering us on. I would often say "I'm so grateful for Wendy!" We had started our wedding planning with Wendy when we were going to have a 100 person wedding elsewhere, and by the end we had a 12 person, socially distanced wedding at her home, and honestly it was absolutely perfect. I still dream of the Phineas Wright House and our magical wedding day. I wish you the same joy!

Most places offer pastries and coffee only. Ours included home made muffins, biscuits and scrambled eggs. Delicious! The owner informed me they had recently acquired the business and were in the process of improving the website. Our room has its own entrance and was lovely. We made arrangements prior to check in for a late checkout due to our schedule. When we arrived we…read morewere charged for a late checkout-- which fine, but also as Hilton Honors members have never been charged for late check out before. The Hilton app very clearly stated our checkout was at 2pm. The front desk started harassing us at 1:20pm about vacating the room. Were even further delayed by no hair dryer in the room (which is listed as an amenity & expected in a hotel room). Staff stood right outside our door and conversed loudly for 20+ minutes as we rushed to get out of the room-- which we PAID for until 2pm!!!! Never made mention of the gangs of boys (10+ kids at a time) in soccer uniforms running at full speed & screaming through the halls unsupervised for at least an hour+. Would probably have been a better use of staffs' time to take care of that situation. Do not recommend!
